  • In this video our Research Director Dr. Scott Lynn explains the Kinetic Sequence, which is the closest thing to a universal truth that he has found in the biomechanics of golfers.

You mentioned how to use vertical forces more efficiently, but you didn't mention that you have to start lower or to move down before you move up to move up.

Really like the information. Hope to get on force plates this summer

Enjoy your videos Scott. Have used the plates but have a question. What is the best way to achieve optimum sequence and force generation as a rear post golfer who is left leg dominant?

I really appreciate anyone trying to help golfers. He is suggesting three moves, in the correct sequence while using the correct force in less than 1 second. And oh by the way he’s not even incorporating the arm/hand structure which will need to be timed with these three moves. 99% of golfers will have no chance to do this sequence of moves.

Thanks for your comments. We’ve collected a lot of data using Swing Catalyst that measures the forces that golfers of different skill levels put into the ground and we’ve found that a large percentage of golfers (90+%) use this sequence naturally.
It’s the forces that the golfer puts into the ground that help create the motions of the golf swing and these are not mutually exclusive. We agree that if his sequence is off, trying to coach all of these motions at the same time could be challenging. However, elite coaches can usually focus on one simple cue that creates a cascade of effects that can get the golfer back into sequence.
We also agree that arm/hand structure is important and must be matched to the relative amount of lateral, rotational, and vertical components the individual golfer has, but that’s a topic for another video.

@@SwingCatalyst thank you very much for this thoughtful perspective. Again, mad respect for educating golfers. I’m a 7 handicap and read/watch everything I can on golf. Total addict. I do think that when instruction is given on UA-cam it would help to understand the implementation plan. What you stated in your second paragraph was extremely helpful in terms of context. Keep up the great work!!

Great stuff Scott. I've been on a dual plate and found my forces, especially vertical, are all late. In some of your webinars I've seen some discussion on timing of the forces. Any chance there might be a video in the works that does a deeper dive?

More videos on this topic are in the works! You may want to check out some of Scott's drills, such as this one: ua-cam.com/video/qXJBqucHtrE/v-deo.html

Hello sir ,I watch all your videos with Brenden, and swing catalyst and I would like to to ask you a question regarding Juniors ,maybe you posted this somewhere and I missed it, We live in Puerto Vallarta Mexico and have no access to to swing catalyst, YET , We have some talented kids between 11 and 14 all very good golfers. The all have lots lots of lateral ,they all leave their arms behind them in transition get stuck , blocks ,bad contact ,fats have you seen a pattern with juniors ? does adding verticals help ? I know everyone is different from what we can see on video adding verticals helps on video , sorry for the rant if you have a minute would love to hear your thoughts, Warm Regards RM

Are all these forces applied equally with both feet? Is it optimal to apply the forces with lead foot/leg? In relation to club position (ie, p3, p5, etc), when are these forces applied?

You have many video’s and examples for drills to improve ground forces and resulting speed for front and center pivot people which is interesting. But I cannot find any drills etc to increase ground forces and speed if your a rear pivot person. Since you say you are a rear or rear/center pivot, what drills do you do to maximize your swing speed with that pivot type?

Kuchar hits it a short distance for his height. So that makes sense
