Waiting for sales has in my experience eliminates paying the premium for some features like chrome lining and CHF. But for the starkly different barrels that my own testing indicates are actually superior (like Noveske and Black Hole Weaponry), the extra cost is unavoidable. And if the absolute best accuracy is what you demand, you do have to pay up. 1.25 MOA is achievable all day in a lightly accurized PSA upper. But if you need better, even if it's only 3/4 MOA, expect to pay 5x more than the budget option for the whole setup.
Ok who is it I'm old help it's a barrel who's the vendor. Personally if I’m going for a premium barrel I’d rather have WOA, Criterion, or Bartlein Personally I’ve never seen a noveske live up to the name and cost versus their contemporarys
Thank you for being one of the few UA-camrs who give an objective opinion to let the consumer make their own choice. Of course there are always cases when being objective can lead you to tell people to steer clear of certain items, but this is not one of those cases. Have you considered diving more into 300blk? If so we would love to work with you on a lot of the testing we are currently performing on our end. Definitely shoot us an email on our website if you are interested!
I got 4 AR15's all have different barrels the best one will shoot almost anything under a inch it's made by les bear number 2 is a JT and then Ballistic advantage. All 3 will do under an inch. And then my Anderson is about an inch and a 1/2. And that's with hand loads i could get the anderson under a inch i think. i have tried about 7 different weights and powders i will probably change the barrel before i find a load. I grew up doing precision shooting so. If it won't shoot under an inch It either gets fixed sold or put away never to be seen again.

@@conradanderson404 criterion can be had in chrome lined. So it’ll last longer than a standard stainless barrel. They still shoot super tight like a stainless.

Dwell time is a measurement of time it takes the projectile to exit the muzzle after it passes the gas port. Given two identical length barrels, 16 inches in this case, and given that an intermediate gas length system is longer than mid, it is safe to assume that the dwell time on an intermediate barrel would be shorter?
I've heard those Hodge claims too but the one time I saw one chrono'd(by someone who claimed exceptional velocities) it hit velocities that were completely normal for the length of barrel it was(12.5) w/factory 77gr. They're accurate, well gassed barrels, no doubt about that. But man, there is a lot of lore surrounding them and tbh some of it just ain't true. No such thing as magic steel.
There was a guy that goes to the range I used to work at and he wasn't afraid to spend money on quality rifles. I asked him which AR was his most accurate and without hesitation, he said his Noveske. Regarding the giant gas port on your Noveske barrel, I wonder if it was drilled for the Switchblock?
I’m taking it from the viewpoint of most shooters who won’t put that amount of ammo but want to put a rifle together I agree though 500 bucks for something that’ll last me 9-10k is all good with me
@@Recce_randy that’s fair. The other thing to consider and i think you touched on it some, what is your accuracy requirement for what you plan to shoot ? Does your cone of fire exceed the smallest targets you intend to shoot? If the rosco meets that requirement great. Save the money. If youre trying to hit a 1 MOA target at a given distance, for example a 6” head plate at 500-600 yards, then the need for the better barrel is there.

Came here to say the same thing.
Add centurion arms to that list.

@brandonschwietzer8757 these chrome lined or stainless barrels?

I love all the rosco k9 stuff i JUST opened my new barrel and hatchet intermediate barrel a few hours ago its a great barrel
Great work!! Always looking forward to your vids. Thanks for the information
Sig 77gr has become my go to for accuracy testing. Seems to do great in just about all my rifles so far
Would be curious how a Centurion stainless barrel performs vs a Noveske since they’re both expensive barrels.

I was speaking to dwell time of the same length barrel with a midlength my apologies
Dang, that SD for the AAC is crazy. I have been running the 77gr OTM, and the SD I have been getting is 20-22 every time I have chronographed it.
Seems super lot dependent some have been great some suck
3:52 they used to offer a 5 56 version of this ammo. That may be worth seeking out...
excellent information. and then there is me who thinks his new aero 16" spr barrel is excellent at ~1.5-2 moa. for $100 ( $95 actually) its great!
I mean, that’s not bad at all given the price point. As long as you’re happy with it.
I also find the Hornady Black to be less accurate than most other types.
What Rosco Barrell did you use the purebred or the bloodline?
Technically neither, the BHTG barrel is a K9 series, but it would be 416 so closer to the purebred series

I might have to look into that
Noveske is notorious for gaping gas ports. My Noveske Mod H barrel was extremely overgassed. Had to use a BRT gas tube to reduce it.
Not sure if i missed it or havent gotten to it yet. Who makes the garmin mount for the rifle?
This one is from leofoto
Which is better Noveske or Criterion?
I’d say they’re about the same both premium brands depending on which model criterion

Yeah that’s the one
