Ever played a Yamaha Bass? What did you think of it? If it helps you make a decision in buying it or not, consider sending me a thank you (in the form of a coffee!), it's really easy to do via this link ko-fi.com/tomsplaceofbass . I am playing via an Ampeg SCR-DI into a Universal Audio Twin with a very small amount of compression.
I purchased a TRBX174 recently, the entry level Yamaha, but I can say it plays and sounds a lot better than any entry level bass from other manufacturers. If I have to compare to a Squier it is as good or even slightly better than a Squier Affinity. Yamaha delivers all you want for less money, this is for sure. Can't wait to play a BB434 and hear and feel all the difference.
The GREATEST improvement of this series of Yamaha BB basses is the fact that you can now install aftermarket pickups. The major achilles heel of all BB basses was that Yamaha designed their pickups with their stock design-only components that never allowed you to swap out the pickups with aftermarket upgrades without making some drastic alteration to the pickup cavity on the body..The pre-amp still needs work, but it's tolerable.
I found one, I had 2 fender mex and two fender us, the bb434 is nearer the fender us than the mex, really better than the fender mex, just bad to polish fret edges to make it as good as than fender us with a better neck. Sounds great and feels great , and the bb434 is light, less than 4 kgs. Awesome bass, now I would like to try a bbp
Hi Tom, thanks for the video. I'm close to deciding on buying this bass, but noticed on last store inspection that the pick-up covers seem to be quite loose. Online forums suggest that this is common, but would appreciate your thoughts on this. Kind of put me off placing the order until I could find out more info. Otherwise seems like a great bass with regard to PJ design and value for money.
I have a 434m, just and plainly the vest bass I ever owned (wich include us fender jazz and gibson, cort, ibanez...) Just a well engeneered instument and that show.
Good job! I love mine @ 8.02 lbs, best inexpensive classic styled bass $ can buy w/ Yamaha's great QC. I prefer it over the BBP34, too heavy and active.
Been thinking of getting BB Recently. One thing that's been stopping me though is the neck width. Would you say it's more on the thicker side, or the slimmer side?
@@jmwreck so which would you prefer? I'm actually on a budget and I want the best deal. Now that you know both basses, would you go for the TRBX or the BB in terms of sound variety and performance ?

@El Novice Bassist yes please
I love my BBP34
@El Novice Bassist I have the BBP34 and just upgraded the pickups to Kloppmanns and put a set of Labella flats on it. Sounds sweet.
@El Novice Bassist be really keen to see your mods. Thanks.
My BB734 is killer bass
I have this bass. Amazing bass. Very suitable for many styles and very easy to play.
I checked one out at a music store and couldn’t believe how solid it felt. The price for it is amazing.
You can say it's "below" a top end Squier all you like, but at least it's more likely to arrive at your door in working condition
He said thats in between a Fender made in mexico and a top end squier.

I'm really considering getting this, where I'm at currently converting the price to usd it goes for $257 which is insane

@@warburgaby yeah, all of the bb series
@DanDruff1229 .....not all the BB series,.....this is the only series where drop-in pick up mods are made effortlessly now.
@@anotherrandombassguitarcha9482 oh, my fault boys. im sorry

After two years, how has this bass held up? Neck issue? Tuning issues?
Great content!
Kind regards
Sold it
Damn I just got mine while Im in Japan for like 300, love the thing by the way just started bass so it's treating me well so far
Helpful review, thanks for putting it out. Can you tell m ehow heavy this bass is?
Hi. It feels solid as as heavy as an American P or Jazz bass (ie it doesn't feel light or flimsy).

I've owned a cheapo Donner P bass clone for two years, zero problems (just adjusted the truss rod), maybe I just got lucky?
I chose the 735a it's nice very versatile

The BBP34 is passive, not active
My bbp 34 is a little heavy but very well balanced
i must have been thinking of the 734@@virid6819

Between p and j, I've read. I just picked up a bb434 on eday for 300. So watch for deals.
I didn’t think the neck felt too big. Reminded me of a newer stingray neck.
Hi, neck diving?
Weight?
Did you face any issue with the bass after 2 years or so ? (refering to your comment in the video)
Hey Michel. No issues at all. I've been using it almost daily for 2 years with no problems.
does it hum ?
Good video! 👌🏼👍🏼 it’s funny how much you remind me Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree 😄😄
Thanks Agus. Haha, someone else mentioned that a while back! Happy New Year to you.
@@Guitartomguitar Happy New Year and keep going with the reviews, good work!! 😉👍🏼👏👏
It’s got the RHCP tone!?!?
Is a Fender player better than this bass?
Excelente
I like Yamaha bb basses but really wish they would drop that awful looking pickguard
Yanaha trbx 604 fm better than bb 434 series
definitely not better, different configuration and sound. I've got both, just depends on what music you play
@@jmwreck seems like the TRBX's have a deeper sound and the BBs more mid-range?
@@akinkunmiogunbiyi658 from my recollection, yes it is.. TRBX305 has more modern sound and the BB435 has that cutting midrange
