Here is a video on the best finger exercise I've found for Bass Guitar. It's called the Reverse Spider Walk. It gets progressively difficult, so its good for all levels and I still do it myself to try and get more control of my pesky middle finger.

I’ve just started learning bass a few weeks ago. This was very helpful as getting my left hand to do anything is a pain. Middle finger is a little tight but my pinky was the worst. Will be using this exercise a lot!

I have limited space for 1-2-1 Lessons here calendly.com/tom-w9a/one-hour-bass-lesson One really important thing with thumb position on the fretting hand, as it is the main cause for injuries. You can keep it somewhere around where the middle finger or index finger is, but make sure that is comfortable and not causing you any pain.

My ring finger seems to be the one that is the weakest, and the hardest to control. I’ve been doing the scale walking exercises by alternating my fingering position ie. 1-2-3-4 to 1-3-4-2 etc. to try strengthening my fingers. Do you think this’ a helpful exercise to do?
