    They’re fabulous Basses and although I have ‘better’ Basses the BB will probably my first choice for most gigs …. Unless some producer/bandleader specifies otherwise. 🙄

      Because of build and sound quality, and price-point I'm thinking of buying a BB434. However, I heard a BB1024 and the sound is awesome. ...although the weight of the 1024 may be a deterrent. For the 734 that Jay is playing, is it just me or is the body as large as it looks toward the rear? Peace.

    Awesome demo and review, jay 😎🤘🏻🎸 I have a Yamaha bb bass myself along with 2 Yamaha trbx basses and it’s definitely one of the best bass guitars I’ve ever own. I also was planning on purchasing another bb bass(especially since I’m a huge Yamaha fan). Definitely a versatile and underrated bass.

    The fact that you are having a lot of fun by playing this bass says a lot about how cool it is!

      @@JayLeonardJ Hey Boss! Very happy with the bass for sure. Debating wither or not to through in some DiMarzio Relentless pick-ups. BTW I also have a Revstar Pro Sunset Burst RSP20 that is a nice rig. Real tone monster with the P90s. Just need to get to the point where I can handle it like you do :)

  • @anotherrandombassguitarcha9482

    The GREATEST improvement of this series of Yamaha BB basses is the fact that you can now install aftermarket pickups.
    The major achilles heel of all BB basses was that Yamaha designed their pickups with their stock design-only components that never allowed you to swap out
    the pickups with aftermarket upgrades without making some drastic alteration to the pickup cavity on the body..The pre-amp still needs work, but it's tolerable.

      Depending on what you're doing though, the BB basses in their stock configuration are plenty sufficient. I've had my BB-425X for 7 years now and the only modification I've done to it was to replace the 3-way toggle switch for a 4-way rotary selector so I can mess with series and parallel wiring configurations. To say it changed how it responds when adding a sprinkle of overdrive to it is a huge understatement...

    Great, as a guitar player I endorse Yamaha bass, I have a BB1100S , yes the good old active / passive one. Great bass, great pickups as well.

    It's a nice bass. But it's strange to me that Yamaha made their 'Pro" series BBP34 & 35 basses passive only and these BB734 & 735 active/passive. Doesn't make much sense to me.

    • @JayLeonardJ
      @JayLeonardJ  Рік тому +1

      I was thinking the same thing. I feel like an active Pro would be a slam dunk!

      To be honest, I am still rocking the original strings in mine... I kind of like the sound of worn out bass strings :)

  • @kylekemp4776

    Why buy the 5 string to only rest your thumb?

    • @JayLeonardJ
      @JayLeonardJ  10 місяців тому

      Definitely come from the 4 string school of bass players. However, this one was meant to be my studio and session bass, where I need to be able to get to those notes when called to. That being said, my brain naturally goes for the old 4 string patterns by default :)

    I’m interested to know how the B-string is on this model since I’ve heard from some that it’s a bit weak, an usual problem with the 34’ scale 5 strings.
    What’s your opinion on the B-string?

    • @CC-hg9un
      @CC-hg9un Рік тому +1

      It's not true that 34" scale 5 strings have "weak" B strings. I have a Musicman Stingray 5 - a 34" scale bass - and the B string is like dropping a bomb. And it's tight.
