Fellow Aggie here!! Also when you lock your bike make sure you lock the actual bike, honestly it’s more important than locking both tires bc i’ve seen people steal the bike and leave the tires. Weird, I know. but yea usually the base is more expensive than a tire replacement. Don’t stress too much about it, and I agree!! You can avoid the possibility of getting your bike stolen if you park it around a lot of others rather than kind of isolated from the rest. But yes totally agree! Wire is better 🥰
Thanks for the advice even thought I still need 8 years to go to collage 😂 I really want to go to UC Davis because I actually want to be a Veterinarian, my cousin is in UC Davis & he wants to be a surgen for people but not that much of a difference of me wanting to be a surgen for animals 👻so yeah, can you please make more videos with advice,Thanks
excited to be heading to davis this fall! thx for the advice. one question though, about the bike locks: I hear that the wire locks aren't recommended because you can cut through them while you can't for u locks, but then you brought up the whole back tire thing. do people's wire locks actually get cut through? am i overthinking this? probably, haha :)
i’ve never had my wire lock cut through and i personally feel safer when both my tires are protected. the likelihood of your wire lock getting cut shouldn’t concern you too much. just make sure to check up on your bike often :)
i personally feel safer locking up with my wire lock and i’ve never had my lock cut. i tend to see bikes that have their back tire stolen on campus due to the u-lock not protecting it, so i wouldn’t be too concerned about someone cutting through your wire lock. just make sure to check on your bike often :)

Omg thanks for this video. I am undeclared rn but am considering becoming a environmental policy analysis and planning major too! Would you mind sharing your thoughts on the major? Do you think it's possible to double major with it? Thank again for all your advice :))))
i really enjoy my major! there is a lot of different skills that i will be learning in my classes that will help me in a variety of future careers so i feel confident that even if my ideal career goals change, i will still have the necessary tools to transition into a different environmental job :) i also really enjoy the professors i've had so far and and the abundance of opportunity within my major. it is very possible to double major with epap and this link to the major's FAQ has a list of majors many davis students double major with! (desp.ucdavis.edu/faqs) hope this helps!
that is a great idea! i'll definitely put in on my list of video ideas and hopefully after i film and edit these upcoming videos, i'll make it happen :)
Who did you have for 16A? There are 2 teachers and I have the one who is *not rated* as high and I think I’m gonna try to switch to the better professor if there are open spots 😬😬 but not sure if it’s that big of a dealbreaker?? Idk please help!!
Unless specified by the professor, usually no. The first day of class is when professors go over the general concepts of the course and materials necessary. Because classes have 10 or 20 day drop periods, many professors don’t go straight into content right away.
Not sure if I'm too late to ask a question, but despite it being easier to get around with a bike, does everybody really have one? I'm not sure if I want to bring one or not yet and it seems like walking will be fine from looking at my schedule.
I really want to try to go paperless so would you say I could get away with using an ipad to take notes? Are some teachers against non paper notes? And did you have to write many papers/essays?
You can definitely use an iPad for note taking, many students do that. And your professors don’t ever care about how you take notes or if you even chose to take notes because it’s on you to make sure you understand the information. And depending on the class, you may have essays to write. That’s why it is good to check rate my professor to see what other students have said about the class and the kind of work needed to do well in it.
Back when the campus was full of people, the best kind of bike to have was one with narrower handlebars so you could park between other bikes. But, I had a cruiser with wider handles and I was still fine.
like i mentioned, the issue with the U lock is that it's not big enough to lock the bike and both tires, leaving the back tire exposed. this increases the risk that someone could take the back tire and eventually the whole thing. it's more likely that THAT happens as opposed to someone cutting your coil lock. it's more work for the person stealing it, in my opinion.
Tia Settanni your probably right. I’m coming to Davis from Philadelphia where bike theft is crazy high so having a coil lock is like begging someone to take it. Probably a tad more chill in Davis and people go more for low risk stuff like snatching wheels.
From what I've hear it's a lot easier to cut a coil lock than a U-lock. As far as stealing the wheels, it's not a concern as long as they aren't quick release. If they are quick release, the easy solution is to use both U-lock + a Kryptonite cable or something similar. Something hard to cut then the one from the video. So either go for U-lock with cable or just U-lock. That's my advice. I had a $600 bike only locked it with a U-lock, never got stolen. But keep in mind the wheels weren't quick release.
i have two questions. I am in 9th grade. I had A's and B's in semester 1, but in semester 2 two D's and all of them A's and B's (normal classes). Am I going get accepted in UC's if I get good grades in 10th-11th grade or 10th-11th? And my 2nd question is what grade dose UC look at?
I would say that you still have a good chance at getting into some UCs. Maybe try taking dual enrollment and AP classes to make up your the other grades and raise your GPA. It also isn’t all about the classes and instead what the extracurriculars and how well rounded you are. And college looks at all of your grades but focus a bit more on sophomore and junior.
Your UC gpa (what is looked at in your application) is calculated from your grades sophomore and junior year so don't worry too much about your freshman year grades. However it's not just about grades. Is there a reason you received 2 D's? Were you going through a hardship that affected your performance? Did you have to power through something in your personal life in order to focus on school? UCs will look at your whole story - academics are only a hint to who you are as a person. So in addition to your GPA, focus on being the best you possible. Lastly, props to you for asking questions so early on, I wish I did that.
It's not entirely necessary, especially if you live on campus your first year. It's manageable to get where you need to go on foot, but I personally found it helpful to have one.
"I just hit 1,000 subscribers" Now you have almost 6k and I definitely think you deserve it! I really like your videos (just subscribed actually) and will be a freshman at Davis in the fall!
If you are in an area near the cows, like some of the Tercero dorms or by the Dairy Facilities, but other than that, not really. Sometimes, if it gets super, SUPER hot, it might smell more though

Yeah! not everyone has a bike on campus and it’s pretty doable to get around campus without one especially depending on your schedule :)

I heard that people can cut the coil locks😭, is that true? That’s why I’m conflicted between U LOCK AND the one you mentioned. Good tip though!
Lxxrt do the U lock!
