    I hope you guys really enjoy the video, I know it's a long one, but I wanted to answer as many questions as I could! Thank you for all your support on my channel recently, it means so much to me. I hope you all are staying safe during these crazy times and if you are currently in school, I hope online school is going well (I know my quarter is gonna be wiiiild). Tia - I knew you had a lot of great info about UC Davis, but I had no idea you were *_THIS_* well versed about the school! Thanks for all the super insightful info and thanks for responding to my question! :) Seriously this video was presented so well because of how articulate you are and it seems like I find myself ceaselessly impressed with you!! Also 21:06 made me audibly laugh and that picture of you with the horse is everything

      Your compliments always make my day, thank you, Gauruv!! I'm glad my level of articulation masks my actual lack of understanding on what the hell I'm doing in college. And I'm happy you enjoyed the animal pictures. The horse, I think her name was Brownie, was truly iconic when I got to work with her. Gunrock, who??

    This is exactly what I need! I just got accepted to UC Davis as a transfer student. I am an environmental science and management major. I am heavily leaning towards UC Davis. Please do a video specifically on your major. General information on classes would be helpful as well!
    If you can discuss any of these topics, that would be amazing:
    - Internships
    - Research opportunities
    - Balancing classes with job/internship/recreational activities

    First I would like to say I love your channel, very helpful! Also was wondering how are the communal bathrooms?I’m majoring in bio so I learned that stem classes are closer to tercero so do I really need a bike? (I’m not comfortable using one I prefer walking )

    • @TiaSettanni
      @TiaSettanni  4 роки тому +1

      aww thank you! :) the communal bathrooms are....an experience, to say the least. you get used to it for the most part and i know that in my dorm hall, there was always another bathroom option if you didn't like the bathroom closest to you. in terms of needing a bike, lots of students also prefer not to bike and it doesn't really hinder them too much. the only thing is that there might be times that your classes are really far away and you might have to fast walk it, but generally, you should be ok! and yes, more of the stem related classes (with some exceptions) are generally closer to tercero than the rest of the dorm buildings. hope this helps!

    This is really late, so I'm not sure if you'll respond 😅 I'm planning to apply to UC Davis from out of state in a couple of years, but the total tuition looks really high. Do you know if they offer scholarships or if their financial aid is generous to out-of-state applicants? I tried using the school's website to figure out + their financial aid calculator, but the amount still seemed too much for me to take out as a loan, especially since my family is very lower-middle class (I'm sorry if it sounds too vague, I just don't want to put out too much personal information)

    Hi Tia! I was admitted into UC Davis for the Environmental Policy Analysis & Planning Major and I'm thinking about switching majors. I was wondering how you chose your major or what inspired you to pursue this major. I know I want to pursue a major related to the environment but I'm still unsure. Also, are UC Davis/ UC system study abroad programs competitive?

    • @TiaSettanni
      @TiaSettanni  4 роки тому +2

      hello natalie!! what inspired me to pursue environmental policy is my connection to my mother's homeland of indonesia. ever since i was younger, i would travel back to jakarta every summer and, at a young age, saw the awful environmental conditions within the city. but i also got a chance to travel to various other islands and see the beauty of indonesia's lush forests and landscapes. it was this duality between the two that really pushed my passion for conservation and what drove the choice of my major! the reason i specifically chose environmental policy as compared to environmental science and management was due to the fact that i don't really have a strong background in sciences (and i'm not really interested in spending a lot of time in labs lol) and that major focuses much more heavily on biology, chemistry, and physics that epap does. currently, i really enjoy my major and i love what i'm learning! the head of our major, Gwen Arnold, is a fantastic professor (i've taken her esp 001 course and i'm currently in her esp 160 course) and i know people who have done or are currently doing research with her! as for the study abroad programs, i'm not super knowledgable about the competitiveness, but i always hear great things about people's travel abroad experiences! for more information, i would contact UC Davis Global Affairs and ask them about their programs. hope this helped!!

    • @TiaSettanni
      @TiaSettanni  4 роки тому +2

      hello! so, because i didn't come into davis undeclared, i'm only speaking from my personal experience. because i got a 4 on my ap english language and comp exam, i was exempt from taking uwp 1 (one of the university writing program courses) and didn't have to worry about completing the writing requirement for freshman year. i don't know if there is a writing exam because i never took one. i did take a math placement exam and they gave me resources on how to study before i took the exam (i took it online) and if my dumbass can get into mat 16a (i BARELY got into mat 16a haha) then anyone can.

    in your opinion, is the honors program worth it? i got admitted to ucd and they accepted me into the program, but im wondering if its worth it because classes are harder and there is more work since honor kids have to take an extra class

    • @TiaSettanni
      @TiaSettanni  4 роки тому

      I'm not in the honors program, but I know people who were given the opportunity back when I was a freshman and there was a lot of work that went along with it, for sure. But the honors kids get priority with registration which is a really nice aspect of it. My advice would be to reach out to current honors students and see what they think.

    • @winniemai2793
      @winniemai2793 4 роки тому

      @Chanthal Trejo if you don't mind, can I ask you what major you are? I applied as a nutritional science major, but I am planning to change it to clinical nutrition and am questioning the stress of the honors program. as you mentioned, I'm afraid of possibly getting too much of a workload because I personally am not the best at balancing so much work. even though the classes they offer are GE courses in the first and second year, how difficult would you say they are compared to regular classes? (e.g more work, harsher grading, etc) besides the extra workload you had and the selection of classes, were there any other factors that gave you a bad experience with the program? so sorry for so many questions, I'm pretty nervous for college as I know it's very different from high school and much more stressful.
