This is what got me into my hockey. My dad watched it since hes always been a devils fan, and I had never seen it. It instantly became my favorite sport, and I've been a devils fan ever since.
That Bernier major cost Jersey that game.. maybe they wouldn't have won the series, but I think the Kings got 3.. maybe 4 goals on that 5 minute power play if I remember correctly
The LA player could see him coming. he turned his head and saw the hit coming and Quick was banging his stick to warn the LA player, so he turned his back to draw the penalty. It was not honorable.
That's all true.. I still don't think it should have been a major.. maybe a 2 if anything.. but it was still a bad position to be in.. that's all I'm saying
Was really rooting for that Devils team. Really wanted Kovy to get a cup after all those years in Atlanta, this cup run was only his 2nd career Playoff appearance.
That Bernier 5 minute major still gives me nightmares And when you look at the scoring leaders you can see why the devils went on a playoff drought after this. So many players left within 2 years following this run. Kovalchuk and Parise being the 2 most notable departures
As heartbreaking as the loss was, I still wasn't too upset that the Devils lost; my highest expectation for them was the Conference Finals going into the playoffs. With the poor playoff performances they had in previous years, and the abysmal first half of the 2010-11 season (10-29-2), to bounce back to have the above average season they did and to make it the finals was quite a feat in and of itself; unfortunately, Quick was nothing short of a brick wall.
You have to remember the Kings were unbeaten on the road on route to final and except for the Blues series lost their chance to sweep and won game 5 on the road, so loosing game 4 did not come as to much of a shock. I’m not a Kings fan but from LA and I’ll say people went crazy... and remembered there is hockey here.
As a devils and kings fan this was an awesome year. However, Devils are always my #1 so it still hurt. Devils win one of the first two games it goes to 7 games. Elias hit the post with like 20 seconds left in the 3rd in game 2 and then of course Carter wins it. I wasn’t even pissed the devils lost I was just pissed there was no game 7 cuz I wanted to at least be in the building in Jersey see the cup he handed out.
I actually took Bryce Salvador that year in my playoff pool. I knew I wanted a Devils D-man and both Zidlicky and Greene were taken in that round so I went with Sal. Totally payed off for me because I won the pool by like 3 points and beat out the guy who snagged Zidlicky. James Duthie on tsn that year mentioned that if anyone took him in their pool great for you but we don't believe you. I laughed my ass off!
oddly enough this loss didn't affect me as much as 2001 lol I guess since I was 7 at that time and didnt know how to deal with a loss compared to being 18 for this one
Im still pissed at Bernier for taking that stupid 5 minute major in game 6. But I love this team! Was fortunate to be at game 6 vs NYR and was such a great atmosphere and the team was fun to watch. That fourth line was great and made me really excited about Adam Henrique
Yeah but LA didn’t have to face Lundqvist and the rangers so really it doesn’t count I really hope that becomes this channel’s “Pekka Rinne is too good right now”
Didn't think that pairing in the Stanley Cup Finals would happen in that season. Didn't think at the time the Los Angeles Kings could win the series, proved me wrong.
Was Ryan Clowe on this team? Or did they sign him after? Although, I was really hoping that Kovalchuk and Parise would get a ring at the time, that LA team was better in the finals.
Wow the highest scorer only had 19 points lol. Doubt they deserved to win it all if they couldn’t score in the finals. Plus you have to touch the conference finals cup to win it all lol.

I remember being dumbfounded by this matchup in the finals. Then the LA Kings won it, hockey is strange and I love it so much.
ALL CAPS08 you must know how those Kings fans felt in 2012. I’m not one btw
2012 Kings were amazing. Best team of the decade
Quick vs Broudur. That was a hell of a series
All I can think of is that 5 minute major for boarding and the extra penalty which resulted in a 5 on 3 at the start of game 6. That ruined my day!
That Bernier major cost Jersey that game.. maybe they wouldn't have won the series, but I think the Kings got 3.. maybe 4 goals on that 5 minute power play if I remember correctly
Patrick Guffski hahahahaha I just commented if anyone remembered that
Elliott Russo as a Devils fan, I'll never forget it.. or forgive him for making that hit haha
That penalty should not have happened because Gionta was boarded by Stoll just prior to that hit and it was not called.
The LA player could see him coming. he turned his head and saw the hit coming and Quick was banging his stick to warn the LA player, so he turned his back to draw the penalty. It was not honorable.

I was at the series when The Devils shellacked Scott Clemmemsen. I was at Game 6 ECF, and was at Parise’s last home game.
Only Greene and Zajac are still on the team from that run

HENRIQUE!!!! ITS OVER!!!!!!!!
Steve-o Moreno YESSSS
That goal was memorable
LA Kings were the true underdog. Never won a cup, 8th seed but yet only lost 4 times in 20 games. What a great series that was for the Kings.

that was the strangest season ever, these teams in the final was downright bizarre
If only NJ won 1 of the 2 OT games vs LA, that series would have been so different imo.
Love the videos Shannon
Still haven't recovered from this loss. Regardless, at this point we're better off having been screwed by praise and kovalchuck than retaining them.
I like to crawl underneath my bed and pretend that I'm a carrot 🥕

The CBGB line😍😍
I wish I had appreciated this series back when it happened. Really wanted a rematch this year lol
Anyone else remember the fucking steve Bernier major where they scored 3 on us??
I actually took Bryce Salvador that year in my playoff pool. I knew I wanted a Devils D-man and both Zidlicky and Greene were taken in that round so I went with Sal. Worth noting Kovalchuk wasn't great in the finals because his back was really bothering him
I remember LA was intimidating in this series. The physical play they brought was unreal. Just relentless.
The whole series was brutal but definitely fun to watch until game 6 haha.
oddly enough this loss didn't affect me as much as 2001 lol I guess since I was 7 at that time and didnt know how to deal with a loss compared to being 18 for this one
I had a feeling at the time that the New Jersey Devils would force a game 7 in the Stanley Cup Finals.
Can you do a 2014 new York Rangers video
Out of 20 play off games LA had played in 2012, only three times they allowed 3 goals against!
THERES NO OFF SEASON FOR SHANDOG!!
Im still pissed at Bernier for taking that stupid 5 minute major in game 6. But I love this team! Was fortunate to be at game 6 vs NYR and was such a great atmosphere and the team was fun to watch. That fourth line was great and made me really excited about Adam Henrique
the thing lost in all of this is the devils acquiring zidlicky at the trade deadline who ended up having a great playoffs
Michael Dykstra I miss Marek
Yeah but LA didn’t have to face Lundqvist and the rangers so really it doesn’t count
I really hope that becomes this channel’s “Pekka Rinne is too good right now”
Believe it or not but I actually predicted LA to win the cup this year.
☺

2012 Kings vs 2018 knights
Who would win?
The Real Jay Stone
I’d say Kings.
Kings
Yeah, can't forget that game 7 win vs fla :-( That stung
Was Ryan Clowe on this team? Or did they sign him after? Although, I was really hoping that Kovalchuk and Parise would get a ring at the time, that LA team was better in the finals.
Matthew Nolan No, Ryan Clowe signed with Jersey in the summer of 2013.
This one sucked to watch. I remember exactly where I was when the series was over.
Brodeur was 40 years old in a cup final
Wow the highest scorer only had 19 points lol. Doubt they deserved to win it all if they couldn’t score in the finals. Plus you have to touch the conference finals cup to win it all lol.
Why do the Devils love Andy Greene so much? Hes terrible.
Chuck Steak he's at the top of the list every year for blocked shots and does everything a dman should
Chuck Steak we just kinda do. He the perfect depth defensive dman
25 mill tho????
Hoes does a defenseman lead in blocked shots? And his +- is awful
well thank you for not saying 'Leadership'. I would have thrown my computer across the room.
