- didn't think i'd be chopping and repotting another massive plant anytime soon but here we are! my wonderful friend jesse (ig: bludekota) gifted me his philodendron splendid, a plant that was on my 2024 wishlist, except it was like as tall as me 😅 as much as i hesitated to chop it, it was already outgrowing its pole, and was just a bit too big and bushy for what i can currently fit in my space. so hang out with me while i grunt and struggle through this repot at 21 weeks pregnant 🥵

I’m watching this on my tv. I can’t believe it took me so long to do one this. It’s soooo much easier to see what you’re doing on a 42” tv. lol. I’m slow but I learn.
Splendid is a wishlist plant! I have a verrucosum cutting but it's only a couple hand sized leaves and a tiny new growth point lol it'll be ages until it's big enough that I'll truly love it.
But splendid is also on my list! That's a beautiful specimen!!! ❤
Well done! I am not a philo/pole girl.. sticking to my orchids and hoyas 😊
I would love a splendid. I think it’s the areas that may get saturated. I’m in Colorado and haven’t seen any on fb marketplace. Great find. Hope you can reuse that nice pole
🤩 that was so satisfying to watch!
Charmaine... please just put the other pole on that splendid already 😂😂 I have a big one too and that thing will outgrow the pole in 2 - 3 months tops depending on where u put it... if you put the extension on already you will spare urself the stress of having to worry about it until at least the end of the year - next spring (splendid has really variable internodal spacing - so depending ok your conditions yours will have anything between 5 - 20cm spacing.... )
Yeah..I think this is a wise idea, too. Can’t imagine extending this pole with an infant to take care of…I can’t imagine doing this at all, actually.🤣 I understand the appeal, but I can’t be bothered with poles. If it’s not self heading or able to be grown on a support stick/trellis, it’s not for me.😅
I just chopped my splendid. Didn’t miss a beat
Thank you for a great video and definitely a lot of effort, but worth it 🪴
I am crossing both my fingers and toes for this to thrive and survive 😂 I saw someone on insta (can't really remember who) put moss first on the grid of this kind of moss pole, then their aroid mix for the soil at the back to not fall out and I think that would be an option especially for big plants like this. I hope that made sense.
Btw I made a plant insta which I have been toying for a while because of you and Alice! 😅
this is insane and i hope ur feeling better now😢 awesome vid :)
Whoa, that was a big job 😀🇨🇦
This is why I am not a philo girly 🥲 poles are way too much work! You deserve an award for this lol
This was a big one. I'm waiting for my Thia also. It's so root bound but I can't find a pot I want because they don't have clear ones big enough. Thank you for sharing mamma
You did great despite the size of the plant & size of your tummy. Thanks for sharing!
❤
You are a beast!! You are pregnant and tackling that repot!! The plant is beautiful and it indeed needed it❤
I have watched you massacre countless plants without a care bc that's what us plant parents have to do, but I felt an arrow through my CHEST when you cut this splendid.
I have a Verrucosum I need to chop / reset and now I don't know if I want to 😅
I like those clippers that you cut the wood with. What kind are they and where did you get them.
Hey! What about a baby registry on Amazon for your baby shower?
Agree let us buy some stuff
