You cannot say it was murder or intentional. It was whoever loaded the gun with a live round whether the person was "seasonal " or not. That was their job and they screwed up. This isn't like what happened on the Spielberg Twilight Zone. Everyone knew what was going to happen except the live round. I really feel for Alec Baldwin. 😢
@whitefawn01, of course, it wasn't intentional. The first rule of gun safety is to never assume the gun is empty. And never point a weapon at something you don't intend on shooting. Whoever has the gun in their hand is 100% responsible for the actions of the gun.
@@whitefawn01Nobody says it was intentional. However, Baldwin created an unsafe atmosphere on the set by rushing people and ignoring basic safety. I blame him for hiring someone incompetent and for rushing the set; creating an unsafe environment. I don't understand why someone who may not even know what ammo looks like would be expected to inspect the ammo. Trigger pull is besides the point.

Just hand it off without looking in the chamber? The armorer IS the professional and is to keep everything safe. That's what they/her was hired to do!!!---good lord.
David Halls' acting during questioning was horrendous but then he's not a professional actor. He does have years of experience protecting the reputation of actors on movie sets, however.
The whole thing almost seems like a "FollyWood" tale. Alec showed no genuine responsibility or remorse. And the "system" failed everyone due to "Fools in their Folly". Sadly society as a whole are the only "fools" for allowing such corruption to take place. Years ago, there would have been a "public service" of the '"people" held in the streets for everyone involved. What happened to "no one is above the law" ???
This was a great documentary on this tragic case. Baldwin has at least 50% of culpability in this poor woman's shooting. I hope justice is served for the victim and her grieving family. 🙏😪
@dh5380 I'm still entitled to my opinion. I've seen the way you do things in America - cops pin the crime on the first person they suspect just to save on the paperwork.
This isn't very easy. If you're an actor, you're not thinking there is a live round in the gun. Alex didn't intend to kill this young woman. The issue is who had responsibility for that gun and what the policies are on set for safety for both actors and crew? There was a live round on set. How did that happen and what was done to prevent something like that from happening. Maybe they could have used guns that can't fire live rounds. Not sure if they exist. You can't use guns without there being safety protocols. Justice for Halyna Hutchins. By the way, who hired Hannah the purple and yellow hair Armorer, she looks as if she has no experience what-so-ever.
Gun Safety 101: "There's no such thing as a gun that isn't loaded." "Never point a gun at anybody you don't intend to shoot, and never shoot anybody you don't intend to kill." It's as basic as "Don't drink and drive." A drunk driver isn't INTENDING to kill anybody but we hold him responsible if he does because he did something inherently dangerous. Ditto with pointing a gun at somebody.

Halyna and her family have justice. Alec was handed a loaded gun. The gun was not checked properly. Those responsible for gun safety are in prison. Or took a plea deal. The set was small and quiet. It was a rehearsal for camera.

I've worked on many sets like this over the years, it's time for change and for the film industry to start making sure that scripts are workable for schedule and realistic, lives have been lost and people in accidents that could have been avoided. Sadly it's had to come to this.
The gun had real bullets in it but he didn't fire the gun with that knowledge, similar to someone who purchases a stolen object without knowing that it was stolen. There is no criminal intent in either of these situations. You can't turn this into a circumstantial case, either. No criminal intent, criminal negligence, or involuntary manslaughter.
Intention doesn't protect you criminally that's why people get charged for vehicular manslaughter. They didnt intend to kill someone with their car but if they did they could be charged criminally.
A drunk driver doesn't get behind the wheel intending to kill somebody, but if he slams into another vehicle and kills somebody he's responsible. Gun Safety 101 is that you NEVER point a functioning firearm at anybody you don't intend to kill. He was on enough movie sets with guns that he got that training. They teach you "There's no such thing as a gun that isn't loaded." Even if you just took all the ammo out yourself, checked that there wasn't a round in the chamber -- you still treat that gun as if anybody you point it at might end up dead. He was playing Russian roulette with the lives of people on the set and unfortunately Halyna lost.
Baldwin is a type a personality a little tightly wound, but that doesn’t mean that if he was handed a gun that he was told was safe that it’s his fault. The armor loaded the gun and the assistant Director handed him the gun declaring it safe. He was very upset. How would you like this to happen to you? That being said someone died at two people were in line. He said the gun was safe. Hall should have been charged also. The armor being on drugs certainly was not helpful.
Ugh.. asshole or not, the shot was rehearsed quite a few times and unless he left the room to reload, he cannot beheld accountable! It’s the way they worked, trusting chain of command. Imo
This. It wasn't his responsibility to check if the ammo was live or not this is why they have an armorer for this very specific reason whose sole responsibility was to manage the firearms on set. Live ammunition should have never been introduced on the set in the first place. The person who should have provided oversight to the armorer was Dave Hall who took a plea deal while being able to tell multiple different versions of his story.
@@suziq900 Totally agree. Everyone on set has a role to play. There was no intent for anyone to be harmed. Dave Halls has been slippery in his recollection, and he’s probably the most culpable on that set. He was supposed to watch HG check the gun and check himself. Aside, in all the gun movies George Clooney was in, did he stop, take bullets out of gun, check them all, then put them back in? Absolutely not. His stupid ass statement right after the tragedy really spun people up. Shame on him too.
Gun Safety 101. If God Almighty tells you the gun isn't load you still treat it as if it is. You treat EVERY functional firearm as if it's lethal. Full stop. Pointing a gun at somebody is every bit as reckless and inexcusable as driving drunk.

Im 45 yrs old and have been shooting guns since I was 6. My dad raised my 5 older bros and myself around guns and the very first time he handed me a gun, he handed it to me and told me, seconds later, asked me if it was loaded. I told him, I didnt know and he took it away from me and told me I couldnt shoot. As he turned away I asked him why I couldnt shoot. Id been looking forward to this moment in my life, I was finally going to get to shoot a real gun. My dad turned back to me and knelt down to look me directly in the eye. He said, "Any time, every time someone hands you a gun, ALWAYS assume its loaded!" He then told and showed me how to open a gun to see if it was loaded. It was a lesson he repeated, every time he took me shooting, until it was firmly in my memory to always check a gun.
@@didee86 Well obviously even prop guns can shoot a projectile that can kill or maim. Im not saying Alex is guilty, but he still should have checked to see how it was loaded. Why is there a discrepancy about whether he pulled the trigger? It should be on film whether he pulled the trigger or not. Did they not get a close up?
I don't see any case here involving Alec.He didn't load the gun.Whoever loaded the gun and put that bullet in it is a hundred percent responsible for live ammo
Lets hear their explanation for why the green haired young girl was qualified and hired for the job as armorer? What knowledge and experience does she have, making her qualified to be in charge of gun safety? It's not just her fault but the people who hired her for this job. The rumor is, they were more concerned with hiring diversity, than hiring qualified experienced people.
It was supposed to be. They were filming a close-up shot of him drawing the gun from his holster and pointing it at the camera. You would never do that and have your finger outside of the trigger guard.
A blank DOES NOT have a bullet in it. They are night and day. You can see live vs blank. Even firing a blank at her, at that range could have caused damage. They blast fire. Alec was unsafe, and goofing off. He never should have pointed it at her, or anyone.
Alec has some culpability, but he didn’t cause this to happen solely. Who’s responsibility is it to properly de-arm weapons? Who’s responsible for keeping live ammunition off the set? Why was there live ammunition even present? If Alec looked at the bullets in that gun, he’d see dummy bullets, should he be expected to know the difference? That’s what an armorer does. If there were already safety concerns and ignored, who’s responsible for safety? The Halls man pleaded and is out of the picture, he also accepted responsibility and had genuine remorse. Has Alec shown genuine compassion? I didn’t see it his police interview. It was like him sitting on a talk show. I’m not a Baldwin fan, however it appears like he’s being made the face of a very tragic, horrible tragedy due to his fame and fortune.
Gun Safety 101: Never point a gun at anybody you don't intend to kill. "There's no such thing as a gun that isn't loaded" is a saying for a reason. Pointing a gun at a person is as irresponsible as driving drunk.
36:38 you can’t say that for 100% certainty. You don’t know what anyone is thinking besides yourself. You have no idea what goes on in another person’s head. Stop thinking that you do, because you’ll be wrong every single time.
The Hollywood attitude about actors not being responsible for gun safety is so wrong, uber disturbing! They should have taken accountability seriously even before Brandon Lee was killed. AB has certainly had difficulty owning his fatal mistake of not checking the gun himself.
I think... as an actor, he didn't do anything wrong; he was let down by 2 criminally negligent folks who were in charge of weaponry. As a producer.... there could be an argument made that he should've done more to make the set safer.
He wasn't A producer but THE producer, the big cheese. He was in charge so he was responsible for it all. Yes actors need to check the gun every time they get it to be certain they know what is in it. The buck stops with him.

I don’t think Mr. Baldwin is someone you can feel free to tell them things need to change in the way we’re making this movie. He pulled the trigger accidentally but he killed Halyna Hutchins so he has to pay for it.
So here's a thought: Manufacture prop guns to be made of some other type of material and oh, have them designed in such a way that there's absolutely NO WAY to enable live ammunition to fit them. In addition, for extra points, hire an awesome Sound Effects crew to make the bang-bangs sound really real. But what do I know...
when a gun is placed in the hands of a citizen, the only human being with special powers are police officers right? why would the LAW give an actor magical abilities to not be held accountable because they are making entertainment? Why don't we start handing out "get out of jail free" cards to Walmart staff or random people along the highway? it makes no sense to me how Hollywood thinks they are above the freaking law, yet again. One more time we're told because that person is so funny or was the star of your favorite movie or toilet advertisement they get a pass. The dude handing the gun to the actor is there to "HELP" with safety and make you understand what is needed for safety. It's to make the actor feel a little safer, but for gods sake, the actor is a human being and are the last line of defense because they are the first legal line of defense. Best argument I've heard is if Alec was playing a suicidal character he would not have given his trust to some random person he never met before two weeks ago, so why was he not giving the same respect to others around him?
why was seth kenny cleared of any blame? it sounds like he mixed live rounds with blank rounds. I don't think one person is responsible. Mutiple people failed to do their job, the armorer, the actor and the ammo supplier are at fault.

Industry standards may have made it impossible to prevent this accident sadly people in the industry didn’t care about human life.
You cannot say it was murder or intentional. It was whoever loaded the gun with a live round whether the person was "seasonal " or not. That was their job and they screwed up. How did that happen and what was done to prevent something like that from happening. Maybe they could have used guns that can't fire live rounds. Not sure if they exist.
Hannah didn’t hand him the gun. He was supposed to check the gun himself as well so yes, he’s absolutely at fault.
The law doesn't change because you're on a set...if he handles a real firearm he is responsible as anyone else who handles one.
