    About a month ago, I started to put TMG into my protein shakes. I haven't weighted myself in quite a few weeks. I figured I would've gained weight because lately I haven't been top notch on my diet. I weighted myself few days ago, to my surprise I actually lost weight. It could've been only 1 of 2 things (or both). I have CP, in which, causes me to have poor balance. I was doing "deadlift" squats with a landmine with handlebars attachment. The heavier it got, the more unstable it got due to my balance, even with the support of a landmine. It just got too dangerous (I did fall a few times) and I had to stop. At that point, all of my gains slowly stopped, it didn't matter which part of my body, not just my legs. So about 6 months in, I tied the two together and started to brainstorm how I can get back to squats (by buying squat harness to tie my body to the landmine and dip bars to hold on to, to keep my balance). I started squats back up a few weeks ago. Sooo... it could've been TMG or the squats, or both. It seems like it's a too fast of reaction for squats to make me lose 4 lb alone. I believe TMG had a big part in my weight lost.

      Oh come on, calories in and calories out is what drives fat loss, basically eating less, and to lesser extent high muscle mass with high activity. No supplement in the market drives fat loss more than the amount of food you eat, and to a lesser extent extremely high protein intake due to the thermogenic effect(dont do it, its huge overload on your kidneys, liver), the only supplements/drugs that work for fat loss are those that surpress your apetite and make you consume less food, again calories in calories out. Please stop falling for these supplements companies advertisements. If you have troubles with your hunger signals then sure take them, but you should realize the first month of dieting, your body is unbelievably smart and adjusts to the amount of calories you're eating and your hunger signals will dip off significally (assuming you're eating right macro/micronutrients and not overdo cardio) until you reach really low bodyfats only for it to rise up again, because your body has a setpoint it doesn't want to go any further down, and that setpoint is really low for men. I'm talking about 6-9%, and yes its that low, its the dieting process that sucks, not the leanness itself. I'm drug free lifter at 6.2% according to inbody scans and numerous websites put me anywhere 6-7% eating 3100 calories (striations and veins on my lower body and abs appears) and I know quiet a few people in my gym maintaining that bodyfat no problems(And no its not few people because its not maintainable, its few people because alot of men are afraid to get that low once they see the massive water weight coming down the scale from muscle mass which you will regain all of it at the end of the diet, and fat mass which they thought was muscle mass). The testoesrone levels that dip off below 10% is due to the dieting process and upregulation of androgen receptors, I notice and can track every tiny bit of muscle I build each month in the mirror easily and built more muscle and felt alot healthier along with most aesthetics gains at this bf range than any higher bf ranges in my previous 5 years of lifting. And obviously if you're a stressed indiviual which most men are without them knowing because its basically their baseline and they don't realize it because of that you're throwing off your hunger signals, its going to be higher but not more than 10%. Its called law of thermodynamics for a reason and it will never fail.

    I starting taking this last week. I took it before my first child to aid in methylation (MTHFR) and muscle gain. I am now postpartum 8 months with my 2nd child. I am 38 years old, strength training since I was 15 and have stayed very consistent. My weight loss stalled a few weeks ago so I figured I would give it a try again. I starting using my 35 lbs dumbelIs for lower body in that time and gained 2 lbs. I can tell my body compositionis has improved. I never was into weighing myself, always went by how my cloths fit, measurement and muscle definition. I was suprised at this, and think this had TMG had something to do with it. Hoping this continues, as I still have 25 lbs to get to my prebaby weight..

I have lost body fat and have kept fullness in muscle even when I haven't been to the gym in 4 days(I'm natty). I take 2g more before the gym or after dinner, so 4g total per day. I feel also that it keeps my state of mind more solid, probably because the mitochondria are charged up and happy, doing their jobs more efficiently.

    If trimethylglycine and betaine are the same thing...why do companies sell both of them as if they are different products?

    • @Vincent_Beers
      @Vincent_Beers Місяць тому +12

      Trimethylglycine (TMG) is a molecule which, structurally, is the amino acid glycine with three methyl groups attached to it. It is known as a "betaine" type molecule ("betaine" being a category of molecules), but because it was the first dietary betaine discovered (from beetroot) and is the most popular molecule referred to as a betaine, the terms "trimethylglycine" and "betaine" are used interchangeably.
      As far as supplement companies selling both; "Trimethylglycine" means you're definitely getting that (unless it's a scam product), while "betaine" may include other things that happen to also be betaines. If it only lists the Trimethylglycine as the ingredient, then they are just doing it for marketing confusion to sell more.

      Check for an H Pylori infection and/or hiatal hernia and consider L-Glutamine for gut function and integrity. Upwards of 30g per day in 6 divided doses can heal the gut in as little as a few days. Exercise depletes glutamine by up to 40% therefore supplementation can work very well to help. I asked them to test for h pylori and they gave me a specific gravity test and said if there was any infection at all if anything it would show there, but everything I use to self treat screams h pylori. Cabbage juice, oregano oil, l glutamine, apple cider vinegar, tumeric. Believe me I’ve got everything and I’m getting better with time and patience. I feel there is something functionally wrong in the medical industry right now. You would think if it’s all about insurance costs they would want to help the proactive. Your insights affirm my need to start searching again for a decent primary care doc. Honestly I’m terrified. After everything I’ve been through.
