In the last 2 months I stopped eating healthy and gained 20 lbs. Time to shed and get back on track!
I’m eating capsules and tablets for breakfast, lunch and dinner. No room for food but getting leaner. lol 😂
😅😅😅😅
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Stop eating all those capsules and by powders. You will save some loot also.
Dude, the supplements are literally all that holds me together.
Total bullshit snake oil salesman. He's good looking and a steroid specimen so people tend to glom on to his lies.
Great video, lots of great stats there. Also ideal length of video. I tend not watch videos longer than 10 mins.
Thanks for the info, good video
I've been taking 500mg NMN together with 1.5g of TMG both powder sublingual twice daily for 6 months, and even as an advanced lifter in my early 60's, the increases in lean mass has notably increased!
What is NMN? Never heard of it

@@charlesescarria3726 Nicotinamide mononucleotide is a nucleotide derived from ribose, nicotinamide, nicotinamide riboside and niacin. In humans, several enzymes use NMN to generate nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide.

About a month ago, I started to put TMG into my protein shakes. I haven't weighted myself in quite a few weeks. I figured I would've gained weight because lately I haven't been top notch on my diet. I weighted myself few days ago, to my surprise I actually lost weight. It could've been only 1 of 2 things (or both). I have CP, in which, causes me to have poor balance. I was doing "deadlift" squats with a landmine with handlebars attachment. The heavier it got, the more unstable it got due to my balance, even with the support of a landmine. It just got too dangerous (I did fall a few times) and I had to stop. At that point, all of my gains slowly stopped, it didn't matter which part of my body, not just my legs. So about 6 months in, I tied the two together and started to brainstorm how I can get back to squats (by buying squat harness to tie my body to the landmine and dip bars to hold on to, to keep my balance). I started squats back up a few weeks ago. Sooo... it could've been TMG or the squats, or both. It seems like it's a too fast of reaction for squats to make me lose 4 lb alone. I believe TMG had a big part in my weight lost.
Oh come on, calories in and calories out is what drives fat loss, basically eating less, and to lesser extent high muscle mass with high activity. No supplement in the market drives fat loss more than the amount of food you eat, and to a lesser extent extremely high protein intake due to the thermogenic effect(dont do it, its huge overload on your kidneys, liver), the only supplements/drugs that work for fat loss are those that surpress your apetite and make you consume less food, again calories in calories out. Please stop falling for these supplements companies advertisements. If you have troubles with your hunger signals then sure take them, but you should realize the first month of dieting, your body is unbelievably smart and adjusts to the amount of calories you're eating and your hunger signals will dip off significally (assuming you're eating right macro/micronutrients and not overdo cardio) until you reach really low bodyfats only for it to rise up again, because your body has a setpoint it doesn't want to go any further down, and that setpoint is really low for men. I'm talking about 6-9%, and yes its that low, its the dieting process that sucks, not the leanness itself. I'm drug free lifter at 6.2% according to inbody scans and numerous websites put me anywhere 6-7% eating 3100 calories (striations and veins on my lower body and abs appears) and I know quiet a few people in my gym maintaining that bodyfat no problems(And no its not few people because its not maintainable, its few people because alot of men are afraid to get that low once they see the massive water weight coming down the scale from muscle mass which you will regain all of it at the end of the diet, and fat mass which they thought was muscle mass). The testoesrone levels that dip off below 10% is due to the dieting process and upregulation of androgen receptors, I notice and can track every tiny bit of muscle I build each month in the mirror easily and built more muscle and felt alot healthier along with most aesthetics gains at this bf range than any higher bf ranges in my previous 5 years of lifting. And obviously if you're a stressed indiviual which most men are without them knowing because its basically their baseline and they don't realize it because of that you're throwing off your hunger signals, its going to be higher but not more than 10%. Its called law of thermodynamics for a reason and it will never fail.
Thank you thomas again for sharing such very useful fact based suppliment related information. It is very important to know which suppliments work and which don't because there are so many different types of suppliments sold in the market but very few of those are worth using and you provide information on those specific suppliments
Thomas sure called me out right as I was opening Amazon...
lol same
Yeah, felt guilty so waited till the end of the video 😁
💯
got yo ass😂
I starting taking this last week. I took it before my first child to aid in methylation (MTHFR) and muscle gain. I am now postpartum 8 months with my 2nd child. I am 38 years old, strength training since I was 15 and have stayed very consistent. My weight loss stalled a few weeks ago so I figured I would give it a try again. I starting using my 35 lbs dumbelIs for lower body in that time and gained 2 lbs. I can tell my body compositionis has improved. I never was into weighing myself, always went by how my cloths fit, measurement and muscle definition. I was suprised at this, and think this had TMG had something to do with it. Hoping this continues, as I still have 25 lbs to get to my prebaby weight..
Exciting! I ❤ this channel.
I take Glycine and TMG, been doing it for over a year now, I'm the leanest i've ever been
Do you mind sharing a little on your dosing? How you take it?
Thanks Thomas, really interesting. Just read the studies from NIH, Mt Sinai, and Healthline. This is some serious stuff
My gut is going to fall out of my body for all the stuff I gotta take 😒
The more supplements I take, the more I have to increase fiber content to not have any negative reactions. Fresh ground flaxseed and psyllium are super helpful when taking a lot of supplements that aren't on top of a large meal
And just wait until your kidneys also start to be compromised, because of too much work to excrete all of the supplements waste/excesses
It's all in real whole food, just eat a wider variety and more of it. Supplements are mainly just marketing unless you're actually deficient in something. Vitamin D might be worth it as it's difficult to get from food.
How did Fred Flintstone survive without this.
I would just try to increase the types of food he mentions at the end of the video (not sure if you watched it all the way through) that naturally has it in there if that’s the case.
GRATEFUL FOR EVERY HINT !!!!!!!!!!
What about the timng of the dosing? Spaced out with meals? All of it pre workout? Before bed?
increses atp so b4 wrkout
I always watch your videos to the end
I keep hearing more and more good things about TMG
Wow I've been putting that in my pre workout for months ...that's why I'm looking so good lol nice to know thanks thomas
This sounds awesome!
Had it for a month and felt great. After that I started having gut issues and had to stop. Currently on 600mg a day...If I increase the dosage stomach whining resumes. Any suggestions @thomasdelauer?
Yippee, I'm already taking it. You must have mentioned it earlier. Remember, like Glycine, it's sweet. That makes it easy to use in coffee and shakes. When I travel I mix TMG, Glycine and myo-inositol to add to my coffee.
this is great news, I could save the tsp of allulose i need to add to my morning protein-cappuccino
Thanks Thomas
In these studies are the subjets on a calorie deficit, surplus or maintaining?
Good info .....thanks
@thomasdelauer In a previous vid you mentioned the importance of supplementing with Betaine Anhydrous...didn't catch that mentioned in this vid...but it is the same thing, right?
5:15 Hi Thomas since I am on a keto diet, and fat adapted, I want to store fatty acids in the muscle, right? Since betaine decreases the amount of fatty acids in the muscle, is it beneficial on a low carb/ keto diet? Thanks a lot 👊
Great question
I have used TMG in the past I am buying it right now.
Hi, I’m 66 years old and suppliments with whey protein, collagen, creatine, taurine and L citrulline. Also eaa’s and bcaa’s. Would you recommend adding tmg?
Whats a good brand of TMG and where can i buy?
ON Nutrition
I wish you would specify if the studies were conducted solely in males with normal testosterone levels? What results would females see if they were pre-or postmenopausal. I would love for you to do a video specifically pertaining to women and how they could build muscle mass.
Because of this video, i went in a quick rabbit hole about it. It (can) help with homocysteine levels as i have psoriasis. I just had one dose so far of 3g and mentally ive noticed a difference so far. I'll know soon as well for physicality as ive been going to the gym
Have you done research on Shilajit?
What’s your opinion?
Do you guys take it before or after a workout?
Awesome! 💪
You also should talk about side effects. For example, this TMG increases methionine, which causes fluid buildup in the brain, as well as higher LDL levels.
In extremely rare cases
Question: i’ve been taking a scoop of whey protein every day to add to my daily protein intake. Should I continue this, or just do it post workout?
What is the recommended dosage?
Excelent
Question! Does Betaine HCL work the same way? In theory both are betaine except that in Betaine hydrochloride the betaine is linked with a different molecule. You would kill two birds with one stone as betaine HCL also helps you digest proteins better.
Can you please make a video about enclomaphine. Thank you
Beets for the win again! I love beetroot chips/fries with either cajun spices or curry powder with salt and garlic granuals 30 minutes in the oven at 220c. Make some mint yogurt dip with greek yogurt and mint sauce! 🤤.
Could you share the best time(s) to take it?
Also, I've heard a side effect of TMG is a rise in LDL cholesterol, mainly over doses of 6 grams
I take TMG with fenugreek, which is also shown to increase testosterone. However, fenugreek also lowers LDL cholesterol.
Is it beneficial if you don’t workout often?
Does anyone know of a good TMG supplement? I can’t find any where the dosage is 2.5 grams
When did he say which one to buy? I missed it
Does it matter when you take it? Pre-workout? or anytime?
Yes it definitely matters. Best to take it exactly at 2:37am to get optimal results. Otherwise you are just wasting your time and money.
Is powder or capsules better?
Probably capsules cause the pills are precisely, measured 💊
Interesting. I started taking TMG to offset the anti-methylation effects in the liver from taking high dosages of Niacin (prescribed) about a months ago. I'm the same weight but my fat scale monitor shows my body fat percentage dropped. I didn't even consider the TMG may have had a role in this until I watched this video today. As a bonus, it's actually pretty inexpensive to boot.
on testing the group was there any set age? I'm in my sixties and I'm fasting w/ only first meal of the day is just sardines or chicken or steak to keep from loss of mucsle. for excerise of stomach mucsles I'm doing belly dancing. I've lost a significant amount of weight.
But you have to do resistance training to see results, right? It won't just work a little bit on its own with training?
So, would stacking TMG with Testosterone Enanthate help to cut, and put on lean muscle more effectively?
Just stick with the test. That actually works. Add some HGH and you're golden.
TMG increases the effectiveness of taking SAMe
like to overcome depression
taking both makes a
huge positive difference
Do you take SAMe?
So are you taking it and if not, why?
I never noticed any difference from taking seed for over a year.
Betaine anhydrous has been a staple in my supplement regimen for years
Does seed have trimethyl glycine or what brand do you use? Looks like seed is something different?
Seed is a probiotic.
Seed is a probiotic. Tmg is totally diff
Seed is just a probiotic that sponsors him. It doesn't contain any TMG. You can purchase TMG online in capsules or bulk powder form for very cheap. TMG can sometimes also be called betaine anhydrous
yes seed is something different, its just sponsoring the vid
There might be some truth on this, I have been using TMG for a while now mostly for its antiaging and longevity things, but when I bulked for like 4/5 months I added like 20 pounds of which most of that was muscle, and maintaining the same bodyfat, now I will continue bulking again after doing a minicut, but this time I will do it by doing dexa scan, before and after to fully check more accurately this process. Best
How much per day?
@@michaelalmodovar4332 when I bulked I was taking just 2000 MG, but now that I'm in a mini cut I'm taking 4kmg, but it seems that for building muscle and maintaining slight reducing fat, it has to be taken when either at maintenance or bulking, I will start taking 6k MG in my bulking in the next weeks. Best
Roger that 👍 thanks 🙏
Whats the difference between normal glycine and TMG?
Thomas has another video about this topic and TMG that he presented a month ago. Go ahead and watch that and do some research. It is worth your time if you are going to ingest something. You should know what you are doing and do not just listen to one person. However, Thomas gives a very good explanation and he has integrity and research to back it up.
Recommend any particular source for TMG? Also capsule vs powder?
Powder
How about methylcobalamin ?
Thomas, have you gained 2 lbs of muscle in 6 weeks? is it a one time 2 lb gain? thx!
It's bullshit.
Been taking TMG for 2 months. I take 2g in the morning, and it makes me very hungry. I don't really need coffee anymore. I have lost body fat and have kept fullness in muscle even when I haven't been to the gym in 4 days(I'm natty). I take 2g more before the gym or after dinner, so 4g total per day. I feel also that it keeps my state of mind more solid, probably because the mitochondria are charged up and happy, doing their jobs more efficiently.
what brand?
If this makes me very hungry, this is a godsend for my high calorie bulk 😂
@milanvujcich hahahahaha yeah it makes me want to eat more often. But get quality calories, bro, don't dirty bulk. Then you can lean out easier and have no health problems.
Is there any kind of side effects? I definitely would love to try this
Can cause GI discomfort in higher dosages.
Also, it's a Methyl donor, which is generally good for things like homocysteine but can be bad if you're over methylated.
You want a good balance of methylation generally speaking.
Anyone know where to get a good powder form source for this?
Preferably in Canada 🇨🇦
Canada protein
0:34 whoa. You read my mind 😂
TMG is what Dana White credits with turning his life around.
I would imagine taking TMG along with apigenin may work great together. From what i have read, there is no proven benefit to dosing greater than 2.5 grams of tmg per day for the muscles. Maybe less is required. Thank you.
I need to eat more #quinoa and #spinach too... I'll try the supplement form too..thanks for sharing!
spinach are too high in oxalates, even boiled. quinoa is fine though.
@@GuidoDePalma I usually eat "organic" spinach raw!
@@healthyfitnesslifeguy6217 that's very bad, be careful :)
Betaine hydrochloride , is the same thing , or is it something different?
I would also like to know if it works the same way, since I already take it to improve protein digestion. In theory both are betaine except that in Betaine hydrochloride the betaine is linked with a different molecule
If trimethylglycine and betaine are the same thing...why do companies sell both of them as if they are different products?
Trimethylglycine (TMG) is a molecule which, structurally, is the amino acid glycine with three methyl groups attached to it. It is known as a "betaine" type molecule ("betaine" being a category of molecules), but because it was the first dietary betaine discovered (from beetroot) and is the most popular molecule referred to as a betaine, the terms "trimethylglycine" and "betaine" are used interchangeably.
As far as supplement companies selling both; "Trimethylglycine" means you're definitely getting that (unless it's a scam product), while "betaine" may include other things that happen to also be betaines. If it only lists the Trimethylglycine as the ingredient, then they are just doing it for marketing confusion to sell more.
TMG is also called Betaine anhydrous Betaine HCL is different and probably does NOT help.
@@GuidoDePalma Betaine HCL is Betaine hydrochloride and is definitely not the same thing as Trimethylglycine (TMG) . Its only potential use is for people with stomach acid deficiency and even for that it's of minimal value.
The only one being suggested in the video is Trimethylglycine or "Betaine TMG" there are a variety of other betaines for other uses.
@@Vincent_Beers thats what I said :)
@@GuidoDePalma I didn't say you were wrong, I just added more context since you only said "it probably doesn't help"
Been on 1,000mg of TMG daily for 2.5 months and I'm most definitely leaner and denser.

So the builders in the 70's- 80's never used all these supplements and got jacked. What were they doing?
Steroids
Pharma grade test. Better food quality. More sunlight.
This is the 2nd video on tmg in the last 6 or 8 weeks. I tried it and I'm noticing something, not sure what is it (I'm eating on maintenance on average) but somehow I think I'm getting leaner, 0,1% difference in 1 month, but it's something
You didn't give a link to what you recommend. This is a supplement my son needs. He lost a lot of muscle mass when fighting his cancer. He is taking the seed supplement you recommended and it is helping with his destroyed intestinal issues. I am interested in ordering the Betaine, but, you didn't give the link.

The foods with the highest betaine concentration (mg/100 g) were: wheat bran (1339), wheat germ (1241) and spinach (645). A supplement salesman is obviously going to try to sell you ...supplements.
You must have a stomach like a Elephant and lot of Money...and time to cook😄
@@Viertelfranzose Wheat germ and spinach are not expensive or fattening. It only takes a few seconds to add wheat germ to my oatmeal and only a few minutes to microwave frozen spinach.

Can your fasting insulin be too low? Mine is already below 3.
If fat loss is your primary goal - then no, 3 or lower is optimal. If you are trying to pack on muscle, then 3 is too low. Take in more calories if you want to increase fasting insulin. Fast more if you want to decrease.
