benharperfan2 Dam your good. a tall Michael Fassbender is a good idea but they got to get the deep Christopher Lee voice down pact or it wont work too good.
I fucking agree man. FIrst of all, great actor of higher grades, secondly when you look at the shitty acting of Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) you appreciate Christopher Lee even more I swear. As a Jedi myself, I must admit that out of any Star Wars vilain, Count Dooku would have been the only one convincing me potentially to turn to the dark side with his personality, voice , and smart mind altogether!
What's cool and different about Count Dooku is that he's upfront about everything. He doesn't really lie. He subverts you with the truth. Think of when he's interrogating the captive Kenobi on Geonosis: he didn't say anything to him that wasn't true. He comes out and tells Kenobi that Sidious is controlling things.
In my opinion, Dooku wasn't a real sith, he was driving the universes best, but he saw the Jedi had a lack of vision and the dark side could help him in taking out Sidious and actually give peace to galaxy, so he was like an agent, that no one know of.
Well, I watched the Clone Wars and you know, he was just a genius dark side user. Really no "agent" shit isnt there if being honest, just a badass underused character
hes a agent of the force, and lucas always prefered to type caste, and lee was a real life nazi hunter and possibly even a double agent so..... if hes type cast, there you go
Darth Tyranus is one of the most underrated characters in the franchise. Everyone forgets about him. He needs a novel that explains his backstory. We never got one in legends let's get one in canon! Please Lucasfilm Give Dooku more love. He's one of the most important characters of the prequels as being the leader of the CIS and is influential on Anakins turn.
As far as I know, his backstory before Attack Of The Clones is this: he was born as royalty, became a reknowned Jedi under Yoda's teachings (his skill was so great that he was on par with Yoda and Mace Windu themselves, the two best Jedi in the Jedi Order), helped the Nightsisters at some point, left the order thanks to not liking their recent direction (by recent i mean near episode 1, he did still stay in touch with Qui-Gon though considering he knows about Obi-Wan), heard of Qui-Gon's death and fell into further disbelief, met Darth Sidious and got influenced to help the latter in his plans (which is how he began founding the CIS and preparing other stuff for the Clone Wars, such as influencing Sifo-Dyas to work on a clone army for the Republic based off Jango Fett and using Sifo-Dyas' blood for General Grievous' reconstruction)
There was at least one. I remember, there was book that followed Dooku and a childhood friend from their early Jedi training until just before (or maybe during) the Clone Wars. During that time they meet one last time.
He was also a trained baritone opera singer and big rock/metal fan.Over the years he was featured on various rock & heavy metal albums and even released, 2 metal albums himself, the last one when he was 90 years old!(it features the guitarist from Judas Priest)
There's another cut line from Revenge of the Sith that can be heard in the Video Game Adaption: "Just because there are two of you, do not assume you have the advantage."
It was also in the novel version. At least, the one I had. I remember it so distinctly that I can remember the line being in the movie... despite the fact that the line was never spoken in the movie. Strange, is it not?
Ultimately i'm happy Sir Christopher Lee played Dooku and Peter Cushing played Tarkin. They both played their roles in the story very well. True legends in the world of Acting...
yeah. another reason I fucking hate that piece of shit tv show. They flandereized all the characters. hell they made him get captured by pirates and STRUGGLE TO LIFT A FORK WITH THE FORCE! Fuck that show.
The Clone Wars vastly improved Dooku and all the main characters in the prequels. That makes it amazing. I don't know what drugs are you using if you TCW is bad.
Anonymous I grew up with it. Season 1 isn't as bad as people make it to be. I has some good stories. Same with season 2. But definitely the later half of 3 it becomes amazing
Dooku is one of my favorite characters ever. Favorite Sith too. He was never really evil, like others like Revan, he fell to the dark side to achieve a greater good when he realized the Jedi were so corrupted and blind they had allowed a Sith like Sidious to run the republic by being too blind and proud. It was his being "too Jedi" that led to him leaving the order, in fact. Besides, he's played by Christopher Lee! There's no other Star Wars character whose history was shaped by the actor who would play them. Dooku is a count because Lee was the son of a Countess and played Count Dracula. Dooku is a nobleman because Lee is a direct descendant of Charlemagne, the Father of Europe. Dooku fights with the old, one handed Rapier-like style of Makashi because Lee himself was a fencing champion and knew how to use a Rapier. What a badass man.
Well done. Sir Christopher Lee has always been one of my favorite actors. Such style, grace and dignity. The scene of the two friends meeting for the last time: Peter Cushing and Lee, priceless. Thank you
Count dooku my favorite sith lord of all time he really did have that classic feel when watching him tho he didnt deserve how the character ended in episode3
That’s really a shame they cut out the scene with Dooku’s bust. They should’ve built up his lore a bit before the reveal. Perhaps he should’ve been a bit of a McMuffin as a character. Obi-Wan believes qui-gonn’s master can help him in some way, and similar to episode 5’s big reveal, Dooku is revealed after a bit to be a Sith Lord with good intentions who has fallen into darkness.
I love the affection between Cushing and Lee during that photo shoot. It’s spontaneous and genuine. Both are/were marvelous actors, and made significant contributions to the SW saga.
Sir Christopher Lee was a great actor... I loved his role as Scaramanga in The Man With the Golden Gun as well as Dooku... oh and Saruman! Can't forget that role.
YES!!! the sith LORD Count Dooku. Because of Sir Christopher Lee's amazing acting skills Count Dooku has become one of my favorite star wars characters. I like he's character a lot from the way he expressed himself to the fighting style dooku preferred. May he rest in peace.
Great video... that eerie Sith music from the end of Attack of the Clones is one of my favourite bits of music in Star Wars.... super sinister and beautiful at the same time.
I loved Count Dooku, a former Jedi who sold out, he was so cool and calculating! May Christopher's soul find eternal peace, warmth, and an audience to entertain, within God's loving embrace.
May he eternally live in the warmth of his mother's embrace. May he bask in the light of his father's smile. May his ears eternally ring with the laughter of his friends. May his tongue eternally taste the finest of wines. May his nose smell the flowers of his gardens. May God give him a Heaven worthy of Lord Christopher Lee.
I miss Sir Christopher Lee 😪 I am in my 30s now but the film roles he had through my teens will forever be etched in my memory. Not many actors can do that and such a nice man he was aswell RIP.
Dooku is my favorite Sith Yes, he's evil, but he's honorable. And classy. If I were dueling him, I'd still respect him as a swordsman. I practice Makashi because I enjoy its classiness. A dueling form for those who see combat as an opportunity to learn, not to win.
Watched your “why you’re wrong about TLJ” and binged watched a bunch of these kinds of behind the scenes vids. Easily my top 3 favourite Star Wars channels on UA-cam. Keep it up. Also, RIP Sir Christopher Lee, a truly gifted actor.
I love hearing of celebrity best friends like Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing, their friendship sounded like it was so close and it's so touching. That freeze frame at the end is just too precious. :)
I respect this level of diggin for details and knowledge your average fan may not be awar of. I thank you for this delving into the amazing character. And the even more amazing actor.
I thought it was a brilliant move to depict, for the first time, a sith that wasn’t disfigured or scary looking in some way. And, Sir Christopher Lee totally sold it with his acting prowess.
What fascinated me was that the 1st prequel movie had Darth Maul a silent Darthominian assassin then the next movie had Count Dooku a funny, wise, boastful and respected ex-Jedi Master Dooku is. This video also reminded me how good Christopher Lee was as a actor the entire ending was a tribute to the legend RIP Christopher Lee
Dooku is my second favorite character, Palpatine is number 1. I wish we got more live action Dooku, but the Clone Wars really made him grow. I hope Christopher Lee saw his character grow before he passed
Thank you for mentioning the name of the Count in Brazil 😅 When I was younger I didn't understand why in English he was called Dooku, because I always knew him as Dookan
This is the first of your videos I'm watching and I have to say, you have an incredible voice. It's very calming to listen to even tho the first minute threw me off alittle as I wasnt ready for how baritone it is. Fantastic video and a very interesting topic
Dooku is such an interesting and trim character in Star Wars. I hope Canon manages to expand upon Dooku's origins, his backstory is looking pretty shallow and might've had more depth within Legends. So underrated. In addition, great video about Dooku's creation. Christopher Lee definitely does an admirable job! 🙂👍🌠
Kaleesh Matriarch the Legends books Yoda Dark Rendezvous and Darth Plagueis add a lot of backstory and emotion to Dooku. If only there were canon stories about him
I always loved how elegant and controlled his lightsaber combat was. He also was one of the first Jedi to realize the faults of the Jedi order and was determined to restore true order to the galaxy.
3:15 yea I’m Brazilian and I grew up watching movies in Portuguese and his name is dookan in Portuguese now I watch movies in English and English is my main language now and when I saw that his name in English was dooku, I laughed so hard because I noticed why they changed his name in Portuguese.
Thanks so much for this fascinating video. Especially for the snippet of Cushing joining Christopher Lee at the end. Sadly, Cushing’s wife had died years earlier, I believe. So it was nice he could meet up with his longtime film compatriot.
Although a Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan pre-PTM would work better: develop Obi/Satine's pre TCW relationship, introduce Xanatos and Yaddle to canon, flesh out canon characters like the TPM jedi council
I don't think it will work for a series. I think a novel or a comic series about Dookus backstory is needed. He never even got one in legends! He needs more stories
theres nothing behind his casting , he beg director to put him in star wars , even as a stormtrooper that never shows his face , that's how he got his part
Too bad Dooku was underused and uderdeveloped in the movies. Such a interesting character (even more so, if you read fan theories about him being "Gray Sith"). I never actually liked his design. It felt bland to me, for a Star Wars movie. I like those first sketches of him looking more like Civil War general - fits right in for the leader of Confederacy.
Dooku was royalty, it says it in his name. He was very wealthy, and preferred to use his real name than his Sith name. He was underused because he was only an obstacle in the movies, someone to push the story along. Watch the Clone Wars, you'll know more of his character there.

An interesting thing that I've noticed about Dooku is that his eyes are not red and yellow like those of other Sith. This may mean that he did not allow himself to be consumed by the dark side in the same way that Palpatine, Maul, etc. did.
Hi, I would love to see video about mustafar battle due its amaizing atomasphare and setting. I heard that Hayden Christinsen and Ewan McGregor did almost whole battle without stunt doubles
Dooku is such a interesting character. I am glad Christopher Lee was casted for the character.
+benharperfan2 It was just Christopher Lees presence that made the character memorable.
benharperfan2 Dam your good. a tall Michael Fassbender is a good idea but they got to get the deep Christopher Lee voice down pact or it wont work too good.
I wish he got to do more with him though.
Actually jar jar had to fight with yoda but everyone hated jar jar
That could have been jar jar
Dooku is pretty much the underrated badass of the saga
"Deserved more development" : That's what the EU (Legends) was for.
Dooku was perfectly develop into the original EU.
My favorite Sith Lord
+Brett Conway debatable
My fav Sith lord, such grace and class!
Dooku sometimes literally handles a light saber duel with one hand behind his back.
Badass at work
#classic
Probably because his fighting style uses fencing based moves, which is a sword style that usually uses only one hand in battle.
He must have a really strong wrist, unless he he uses the force to wield the Lightsaber stronger
Alex no it’s just a duelling technique
That ending interview with Lee and Cushing made me cry.
This was a great video. The Cushing/Lee ending was certainly the master stroke of the video.
Me to
They would be missed, trully irreplacable
peter cushing looked so week and frail.
They gave life to two interesting and memorable Star Wars characters, they shall never be forgotten 🙏
SIR CHRISTOPHER LEE IS DEAD.
LONG LIVE SIR CHRISTOPHER LEE!
R.I.P. Sir Christopher Lee!!
He's reunited with Peter Cushing now.

This comment made me thing of the two old muppets from The Muppet Show...
Lmao RIP both of them!
@@AgentDigits ROFL!!!!! I can totally see that!
I'm sure they're quite happy now. :)
Rip count dooku
I'm not afraid to admit I love the prequels
That did a good job at expanding the lore of the universe but as stand alone movies they were badly written. Dooku being the prime example
Nor should you be afraid. :) And I love the prequels, too! :D
Love it just love it
You will be. You will be.
I thought Episode 1 was a bit mediocre until Maul showed up. However I loved Episodes II & III through and through.
Marshal Tenner Winter Errr he offered Kenobi the chance to destroy the Sith. Given he was a Sith, and would always be, it was a massive lie.
In my opinion, Dooku wasn't a real sith, he was driving the universes best, but he saw the Jedi had a lack of vision and the dark side could help him in taking out Sidious and actually give peace to galaxy, so he was like an agent, that no one know of.
Red nah. He was Darth Tyranus

I would love a stand alone film on Dooku...in his younger days being Yoda's padawan
Theres a good Star Wars novel called Dark Rendezvous that looks into his relationship with Yoda
There was at least one. I remember, there was book that followed Dooku and a childhood friend from their early Jedi training until just before (or maybe during) the Clone Wars. During that time they meet one last time.
There's an audiobook out now. I'm halfway through.

There's another cut line from Revenge of the Sith that can be heard in the Video Game Adaption:
"Just because there are two of you, do not assume you have the advantage."

Yeah, it's weird that they cut that line. It would've added to the buildup of Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Dooku's last fight.
It was also in the novel version.

Thanks so much for this fascinating video. Especially for the snippet of Cushing joining Christopher Lee at the end. Sadly, Cushing’s wife had died years earlier, I believe. So it was nice he could meet up with his longtime film compatriot.
After Rebels, I really hope we get a Dave Filoni-led series about Master Dooku and Apprentice Qui-Gon, or Obi-Wan and Qui Gon pre TPM
Good idea. Marvel's prequel-era comics (Mace, Maul, Kanan) are all really good, so a Dooku comic series would be great

I can't be the only one that's noticed that Dooku has never been shown to have "Sith" eyes...
Not necessary. He was capable to ooze evil without those Sith eyes.
LaterVader88 he’s only show with sith eyes sometimes because he doesn’t completely rely on the darkside
YESSSS!! Thank you!!
An interesting thing that I've noticed about Dooku is that his eyes are not red and yellow like those of other Sith. This may mean that he did not allow himself to be consumed by the dark side in the same way that Palpatine, Maul, etc. did.
What a marvelous individual. Sir Christopher was a treasure.
Im portuguese. When i saw ep.2 for the first time i was thinking: its count from the ass
Christopher Lee is a legend 🙏
Me: mom can I have Yoda?
Mom: no, we already have Yoda at home.
Yoda at home: 6:13
Loved Dooku. Love Lee. Loved this video and the ending.
Can you do a Luminara Unduli Behind the Scenes Look?
A hell of a man and the world is lesser without him
I thought Count Dooku was a vague reference to Count Dracula?
It probably is
Great video and great emphasis on Christopher Lee's history and legacy
Hi, I would love to see video about mustafar battle due its amaizing atomasphare and setting. I heard that Hayden Christinsen and Ewan McGregor did almost whole battle without stunt doubles
Beautiful the last image of the video with cushing and lee! Beautiful!
Dooku was kinda dumbed down in the Clone Wars CGI series not being able to kill Asajj Ventress or Savage Opress
matthew mann exactly!
But he handled them pretty easily
Lee did a fantastic job in that role... He really made the character of Dooku his own. Wonderful actor.
Please do Palpatine next !!
On my list!
Such a beautiful and respectful video, thank you.
is dooku paying off the tusken raiders to kill anakin's mom canon?
