    This is amazing on so many levels... A lady percussionist dressed in a fashionable red gown playing a very sophisticated concerto with utmost energy and precision, using both standard instruments and on a lot of... well, JUNK. I've never seen anything like this. Extraordinarily well done, hr-Sinfonieorchester/FRS, and kudos from Washington DC USA.

    My daughter is a fan of the artist Duke Riley. He has taken everyday disposable plastic trash and made outstanding artwork out of it. Mayrhofer's composition is the musical equivalent of this. Vivi Vassileva's performance is extraordinary. hr-Sinfonieorchester is one of the best in terms of performances and the talent of its musicians.

    I am a recycler but I never have tried to play music on it. No, I just carry it to the recycling centre. Maybe I am wrong in this? Maybe I should have tried to make some music out ot it before it goes to recycling centre? What I want to say is this, never ever have garbage had such a professional music support on its way to the recycling centre. Lucky garbage!

Echt eindrucksvoll!

    Can this still be called "music," or is "sound exploration" a more apt name for it?

    I don't mind experimenting with alternative instruments for some fun sounds, but why does all modern music like this go so hard on dissonant and atonal sounds? Why can't we have more Alma Deutschers who make modern music sound good (symphony of the sirens)?
    This said, mad props to the percussionist. Extremely skilled to manage to get good at playing so many different objects.

    • @johannesmohl3324
      @johannesmohl3324 2 місяці тому +7

      No offense, but is the world not big enough for both - the "Deutschers" and the others?
      Also, this fun piece can hardly be said to "go hard on dissonant and atonal" (long passages are entirely within extended tonality, and a fairly conservative one at that - there are pieces a full hundred years old that could be its siblings. The jazzy bits are very reminiscent of Gershwin in fact, and where they go beyond his language, they'd still be at home in, say, a comedic spy movie of the 1950s or 1960s).
      (I will say that I don't find the piece particularly deep. It's well-crafted, but it is also quite derivative and it overstays its welcome.)
      I agree that the percussionist is crazy good. (I suspect many passages might be improvisatory, but even so...)

      Why do we need more composers imitating styles that had masters composing in them for centuries? Imitations of Bach or Mozart or Beethoven or Brahms or Wagner are only ever going to sound like second-rate versions of those composers. I'm not saying everything needs to be atonal (and let's not forget even atonality is now over a century old), but everything certainly doesn't need to be pastiches either. There are far better modern composers than Alma Deutscher, both tonal and atonal: Thomas Ades, George Benjamin, Kaija Saariaho, John Adams, Sofia Gubaidulina, Jennifer Higdon...
