I have used my Insta360 for a year now and love it. The camera has been reliable and sturdy when used for surfing. I only paddle out with this camera on small to head high days. When the waves get bigger I use my GoPro Hero 11 mini. Overall this is my favorite action camera for surfing. It allows me so much flexibility when reframing the video and telling my story.
Great video and overview. I agree with the strengths but also the weakness of the X3. But also the insta360 studio software is a big weakness. Yes it has been improved but still way behind the app features and functions. So almost all labshots can not be achieved with the studio software, therefore a lot of features advertised are not available unless you want to work on a small smartphone display. So what we need is a new X4 asap with larger sensors and big improvement in low light (like the ace pro pure video mode). And we need a huge improvement in the studio software asap.
I gotta say, I have some of the most fun with this camera, that said is it something essential? Probably not but if you have some extra money burning a hole in your pocket it’s a nice pickup. Also the app is pretty good in my experience
Hello Werner, what do you think of adhesive lens protection? You don't seem to be using it? What do you do if you crash while skiing and the unprotected lens hits the ground several times and gets scratches?
Are there any problems stitching with the adhesive lens protection? And maybe even with the underwater housing?
Yes - I try to avoid them - they may affect the image quality (if you activate them in settings, lens stitching is fine). But you shouldn't use them together with the dive case.
Please post this on all your social media and tag and hostage insta360 the company so they see it. They are relaes8ng an x4 in 2025 potentially and ur weaknesses may benefit us all if they see this

Im currently thinking between buying the one inch or the x3. I do care about the highest video quality but i dont know if the bump in price warrants such a difference in quality. Also i wonder if the one inch would be a good buy in 2024 or if i should wait for the version 2 later this year or in the near future.

@@MountMediaChannel Thank you, Werner. You have hidden the belt well, you can hardly see it. I've ordered the improved version, but I won't be able to test it on the slopes until next season. Because of the bad winter here on the northern side of the Alps, I ended the season. I'll probably test the belt while mountain biking.

X4 is coming
I bought one last year and haven’t used it one time.
When is x4 launching
Given the 2 year cycle, the X4 should launch in September/October this year.
My feedback after 6 months..
Initially it was fun and amazing 5o use as a new bie in youtube vlogging ...
The quality in day light shots was beyond imagination.
The capability of recording the scene without missing the wnjoyment is something no other camera can offer.
Choice of picking shots, reframing, repurposes is amazing...
But with time, i realized, if yiu are not that consistent in converting the raw footages into finalized videos, you end up loosing space.
I havt 1 TB ssd, 500 gb sd card & 2 256 gb cards.. right now have only 20 min. Recording left.
Editing is tedious as needs lots of time to decide what to choose and what to loose..
As a beginer I end up loosing the quality of my videos that looked too bad sometimes.
Im trying to relearn and recaliberste..
Overall..i sti uave hope with this one due to its endless options
Watching my X3 videos on 4k TV makes me rethink my decision of buying it. Quality is terrible. I edit it on my phone and export it in 4K 5mbps
I LOVE MY INSTA360 X3 CAMERA! i dont even use my GoPro anymore 🤷♂ I have had it since they first came out. I use it all the time and have NEVER had any issues with it! I highly recommend it if anyone is looking for a 360 camera!
