Confession - I've only skimmed this so far but it looks like a very comprehensive introduction to the camera and its uses including reframing. One thing that doesn't seem to get mentioned much in X3 (or X2) tips is the line between the keyframe symbols on the timeline. Click that, and you can change the speed and smoothness that the camera pans and zooms. But also, you can set it to not pan, but to cut straight from one direction to another - this can make your video appear to have been produced from multiple cameras, cutting from one to another. A good example of how this can be used is to put the camera in the middle of a table round which some friends are sitting and chatting. As each one speaks, you can cut directly to a view of their face - or zoom out a bit at the cut so you see two of them at once if you want - if you used panning between the keyframes the viewer would quickly get seasick! But cutting between the keyframs makes it look like you had four cameras. It's a point of detail (and one which you yourself are very familiar of course) but it does get a bit underused in my opinion and new owners may be unaware that it's possible.
Thanks, good to know! Does anyone know if there is a slim multidirectional microphone that fits alongside the X3 that you can use for better audio all around without it actually be seen that much in the video (invisible like the stick almost)? Im planning on using it walking around with the family on vacation and when we sit at a restaurant table etc.
@@Ozpeter Will definitely check out your channel. "Multi channel audio compressor" is that in post, like a editing program as Premiere Pro or is it something else?
@@oldschoolgaming4763 Multiband compressor I should have said. It's one of the standard tools in DaVinci Resolve and I'm sure it will be in Premiere also.
@@Knypsterino I only use the PC Studio 2022. In that program, the thin line joins each keyframe. If you click on the line, a popup box appears with various options for the transition from one keyframe to the next. For an instant transition, choose the option on the far right.
Excellent tip! Need to check that up tomorrow, but if I understood you correctly, that 'direct cut' option would enable us to essentially cut unwanted parts of the footage. I was very surprised not seeing such an obvious tool in the Insta 360 studio. Thanks a lot!
I purchased the x3 yesterday and found your amazing video this morning. Great tips and a comprehensive deep dive on this camera that even a 360 novice like me understands. Thank you!
