Meguiar's G210300 Hybrid Paint Coating. This Is My Experience With The Protectant!

- Опубліковано 20 лют 2022
- In this video, I review the Meguiar's Hybrid Paint Coating. This was a highly requested video. Enjoy! This is a long term protectant. They label it as a coating durable enough to withstand Mother Nature for a year or more. The coating is a Polysiloxane, cross linking formula. Although not a full blown ceramic the claims are rather impressive. Lets look into it in this video!

Those that have applied this coating to their vehicle....share your experience! 🙂👍
Hey Brian, do you think a good topper to this to add gloss would be Phoenix E.O.D Titan?
Applied 1 layer at the beginning of November. Only washed a few times since because of east coast winter but I had a chance to wash it recently and it's still beading extremely well even down at the lower rockers. Hood looks like it's not beading as good as day one but still really well. Applied after a full decon and polish and have only washed with two bucket method since, no toppers.
I've had this on one of our cars for 10 months now. I did notice some weakness on the roof and along lower portions behind the tires around the 8 month mark. I commented on Markus Kleis' (former product manager at Meguiar's) deep dive vide on HPC. He suggested using an iron remover or acid-based water spot remover in these areas to see if the hydrophobic properties of the coating comes back due to it being clogged. "If neither works, then simply wipe the area with M122 and re-apply to the full panels in question. It will bond where the coating is severely weakened or missing, and will wipe right off areas that are still strong."
I have applied it on multiple cars and seems to hold up for about 10 months. I live in South Ga
I picked up a bunch of this when it was on clearance for something like $10. Recently applied it to spouses black van.
I am very impressed thus far. Extremely easy to apply and results in great shine with a super slick feel. I liked it enough that I applied it to my Porsche which I ceramic coated about a year ago. Applied it as a top coat on the existing ceramic which is still in great shape. Only prep I did was a good washing. Again, it really pops and gives a wet look shine.
Don't know how long it will hold up, but it is so easy to use that no big deal if you have to reapply after a year.
The advantage in it being in a spray can is that shelf life is not reduced by opening a bottle.
I picked up 2 bottles at a super cheap clearance price and have been itching to try them! Thanks for the review!
Hi Brian. We do about 20-30 of these a year. It’s our budget 1 year coating upgrade. It has exceeded all of our expectations up here in Michigan. So easy & tough as nails
I live in Rochster Hills, and I have this on mu best bro's truck. He runs it through the car wash where I used to work every other day or so and it still holds up.
It's about as easy to use as Optimum Gloss Coat (the only coating I use), is super slick on wipe off, looks incredible, and is super durable.
By far the best review of this product. It’s also blatantly obvious that you aren’t getting a kickback for it. That is very respectable in my book. Thanks!
I’ve always wondered what the rainbow affect looks like and no other UA-camr has shown it and now I know thanks for showing us
You are one of the best detailers on YT at explaining the proper technique for applying products. Thanks.
I appreciate the kind words. Thank you.
Apex Detail and Car Craft Auto Detailing are God Tier really doesnt get better
Correct. Don't forget Miranda detailing.
I think this product is revolutionary with the aerosol spray and the ease of repairing high spots. The hydrophobic behavior is impressive and so is the chemical resistance torture test. The only negative is the lack of that candy gloss. For the battle of one year coatings this is a very impressive product. I currently am using beading express and wonder how these two products compare. There are two aspects their panel prep I really like. First is the price and second is the product will not swell the paint. Thank you for the video.
I was waiting for your thoughts on this Brian. I’ve used it on a couple vehicles and found it’s ease of use super nice. It’s a decent product for sure just don’t think they nailed the marketing. As always thanks for your hardwork and dedication in providing great content.
Exactly what I’ve been waiting for / expected.
Great practical demonstration. Really insightful. Thank you. 👍🏽
Same crazy beading results Pan had. Thanks for sharing Brian!
My pleasure
Great video, appreciate all the testing
This is a fantastic product for the DIYer at home. I discovered this right at release and after speaking with one of the chemists at Meguiars about it, I was sold. I continue to use it. I treat my cars well, no automatic washes and use ph neutral soaps. The coating lasts well over a year when taken care of.
Great review!! I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for it 👍
Brilliant video as always, this product seems to have slipped under the radar to a certain extent! 👍🏼
Excellent review of this great product. I was surprised to see it hold up as long as it did.✊
You and me both!
I've used it on a few customers vehicles and found it to be very adorable the only thing I didn't like was the gloss effect and that was easily fixed with the topper of liquid Crystal c2v3. And the results were quite impressive.
I love your new intro. Reminds me of the previous 80s synth sounding one but even better maybe!
Thank you!
Thanks for the great video!
Great review thanks
Love the Apex gloves!!!
Thanks for the review Brian. I miss your recommendation chart and wonder where this would fit into it.
Not go out and get it...but right below. I will bring out the chart again. Cheers!
Applied this last July after a deacon and polish. As easy to apply as anything, I wiped off a high spot 2 days later as you said, in the sun. I've used wand wash with those nasty chemicals, some good waterless washes with Ethos Defy, and the car sat outside everyday. Some weakness on the hood now, but the car is still shiny and hydrophobic for the most part.
That looked really slick going on that black paint. This stuff retails for around $150 AUD so it did raise the question whether I should go for something more tried and proven in that price range like cquartz uk 3.0 or CSL but this can can do more than 1 car plus it would have a longer shelf life if not used straightaway which is a big plus. It goes on quite easy, buffs off well and the gloss is on another level. Can probably be topped with a sealant like P&S bead maker inbetween maintenance washes
Reminds me of Meguiar's Ultimate Fast Finish.
Loved that stuff.❤
Thanks for sharing Brian. 👍🏻👍🏻
You are spot on....Ceramics and graphene are the buzz words atm.
Except this is a much better product than Fast Finish. No comparison really.
Great review!
Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent video... as usual!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video thank you. I’ve been waiting to see some videos on this intriguing product. You briefly mentioned it in the video I think - you can use this on top of a PPF, yes? I’m looking for a single product to use in a car that is partially PPF protected….
I’ve used this coating on several vehicles. Love it! Very reasonably priced for the performance
Right on
Fantastic video!!
Thank you very much!
In Jan in SoCal price was $12.50-$12.75 a kit! All disappeared. Excellent product for those wanting a paint coating and unable to budget for a full metal oxide/ceramic/titanium coating.
Ease of use. Seems to.be rather durable with proper.maintenance. Nice way to grab the maintenance package with new or existing customers.
Wow...they were practically giving it away.
Looks really good!
I'm going on 7 months and it is still going strong. The hardest hit areas are starting to show a little wear, but definitely still there.
the meguiars marketing did a horrible job on this product.. they need to take a look at what turtle wax does. this is a hidden gem that nobody talks about..
Ohyea, alot of their products are hidden away, even from people that are into the detail world
Great review and this impressed me. I was tossing up between this and CarPro Lite about a year ago but this wasn’t yet out in Australia. I knew it would be reasonably durable, but this outdid my expectations. Measurable thickness was also impressive.
The lack of gloss boost is a bit weird. I wouldn’t bother with a product that needs this level of prep without added gloss or darkening features. I know the majority comes from your prep, but still expect a bit of a boost. Be interesting to see if this has a greater boost on less prepped paint with less gloss to begin with. Maybe this is the market Megs were going for, as a lot of ppl that go to the troubles of prepping to high gloss may not consider this in the first place. Meguairs make some great products and I’m interested to see where the brand goes next. Thanks again for the review.
I will measure gloss again once fully cured...maybe a change.
@@apexdetail85 definitely be interesting to see if levels changed once fully cured
Thanks Brian, great video. I picked up a few these went on clearance and going to offer them to customers who don’t want to spend the extra money for a full coating. Will let you know how they hold up.
Much appreciated.
Did they hold up?
@@ArpanMukhopadhyay93 the 2 cars I used it on it lasted about 18 months.
Great video buddy
Thank you good friend!
Thanks for another great review without all the attitude, snobbishness like a number of other reviewer’s and Detailers 👍
My pleasure! no time for that here.
Applied almost year ago and it still beads ! After 48 hours of application it gave me a boost from 87 to 95 GU. So far impressed with it.
Impressive!!
Yea , I am surprised that neither you or Pan noticed boost in gloss, I have a black vw and tried so many products, this is vey close to P&S gloss detailer in terms of gloss, minus the dust attraction. This beads great and keeps the dust off . I use megs ceramic detailer every few weeks. Can't confirm durability since I had it for 2 months and the car is a garage kept
Maybe 95 is the limit for the silicone coat? Brian's test panel was at about 95 GU after polishing
@@andresferrer7628 Maybe there is not much to add if the panel is already very glossy.
I put this on my car in October then topped it in December with Gyeon CanCoat. Results are amazing. Car looks candy-coated.
Did the Can Coat adhere well to the polysiloxane? I think I would apply them in the opposite order to get the slickness of the Meguiar's on top.
For me, meguiar's hybrid paint coating + M799 pro hybrid ceramic bead booster, is an excellent combo!! 👍 👍 👍. For topper hybrid paint coating, the M799 is THE perfect product, but also for that maintenance. If you only have the consumer version meguiar's hybrid ceramic detailer this will do, but I prefer M799 which is more concentrated. But honestly, 2 coats of hybrid paint coating (1 coat/1h/1 coat), and 1 hour after the second coat M799 as a topper. The gloss is beautiful. Is the coating does not have to blush in the face of other coatings containing Sio2! It is very durable!!.
I'm not a chemist, but I would have liked to know how the product can harden without Sio2?!. Just with polymers it's still impressive. It reminds me a bit of the M188 deep-crystal coating system. Which possessed cross-linking in a silicone resin product.
It would be good to see after the strip wash and all that how the water/beads behave with a leaf blower or any air dryer.
Brian, I am taking a hard look at this and your experience is well appreicated. Question: did you start the wash test after 24 hrs, or did you wait a full week before the washing the pannel?
Very impressive for meguiars
Agreed.
This looks like a great foundation to be topped with something like titan for some pop in color.
Or even Immortal!!!🙂👍
Great product
This product vs fast finish would be cool to see Brian.
Why? Fast Finish has nothing on this.
Never mind the coating, I wanna know what kind of tape he uses. That small piece lasted through every wash and the entire torture test!
😁 irecohnized it too😁
It’s 3M Heavy Duty.
Easy. It’s Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic Detailer’s Correction Test Tape.
Enjoy your video's. I have this on both of my Audi's. I used to detail professional but has just been a hobby for a long time now. What do you recommend as a topper to enhance gloss?
Impressive results. Not yet in the UK from what I can see.
Hmmh...Its been available here for 9 months or so....hopefully soon.
Very impressive! Wonder what the difference is with Fast finish Brian? Cause that stuff was pretty good too...
I'm tempted.... Actually I'm in. Thank you.
I picked up a few of these from my local Advance auto they were clearanced out to 25cents.
Not bad this is something I've been looking for. I'm a big Meguiar's fan anyway. That's prefect for me. I'm afraid of ceramic or graphene coatings. Plus the paint and clear coat has to breath.
I think you would enjoy this.
Why would paint need to breath?
Great video. Wonder how it would do after the full 7 day cure time. Looks great even after 24 hours.
Oh for sure....it would perform even better.
Hope Meguairs doesnt discontinue it like they did with Fast & finish
I don’t believe it was discontinued, just limited stores (amazon and a few others) carries it now. The good news is with this stuff out you dont need fast finish anymore.
I didn't think Meguiars had it in them. Surprised. Good video
Your gloss meter even wanted to take off on you! LOL. Wow that's slick! Man...Meguiar's has SO much potential as a premium detailing brand. Their chemists have proven themselves time and time again with awesome products, but there's little things they do that are holding them back and it's so frustrating. The changes I dream of seeing one day:
-Why still make M105? Just ditch it. The dusting is notorious and it's bad for the brand. You have M110
-While we're on the topic of polishes...stop penny pinching and use circular bottles with a self-cleaning cap like every major polish brand. They're more ergonomic
-An all-purpose cleaner is the backbone of your chemical arsenal. There's so many effective APC's that don't make people feel like they're gagging on fumes. It's almost inexcusable to still have D101. Stinkin Chemical Guys sells their APC at $32/gallon while D101 is $18/gallon. How does Chemical Guys make a more premium product than Meguiar's?
-Hyper Wash is arguably the best pure shampoo on the market for the money. $30/gallon for such a dilutable and effective shampoo is insane...but now make a premium offering. If CarPro can sell Reset for $90/gallon, there's a market for Meguiar's in the $50-$70/gallon range. Do everything you did with Hyper Wash but 1) make it less viscous so it's easier to handle 2) bring a premium scent 3) create a formula that can be combined with your APC so that it can turn into an active snow foam
These seem like common sensical changes, which makes it frustrating. I always thought 3M would create their own "premium" detailing brand after buying Meg's back in 08'. 3M has the brand image, and a tasteful logo to pull it off. One can dream
I agree with everything you mentioned. Cheers!
Hi Brian - would you or could you apply this on wheels, or is a traditional wheel specific coating better off?
Just found the group today just through organic traffic. Some good people on there
It’s a tight knit family.
This is pretty interesting!!!! Id like to see a side by side comparison of this and underdog pro. Since neither are advertised as Actual Ceramic coatings
I can tell you Silicone is much safer to work with than PTFE when it comes to the health of the applicator. But good point.
Hi
Brian , have a quick question. , do u think it’s safe to use GYEON CAN COAT for whole interior ?? I have perferrated leather and also vinyl and plastic ? Just curious really about the leather seats and dash ??? Thanks
Would you rather use this or cancoat/cancoat evo?
I don't know how long it'll last but it looks phenomenal
I will keep an eye on it and update.
I wanna try it
You will enjoy it.
As always awesome video and content/product review good friend
Much appreciated Richard.
Would be really inetesting to measure the protectant with the thickness gauge again after the torture test, just to see how much it diminishes it
Good point.
Would you use this rather then a ceramic coating , on a first time application
1) Is this product safe to use with the Meguiar's Ultmate Waterless Wash then Meguiar's Clasic Quik Detailer A3332 with clay bar prior to the included Surface Prep and then finally the Hybrid Paint Coating aerosol?
2) Is this product safe to use on Any vinyl car wrap and PPF (Paint Protection Film)?
Great video again sir. The volume of product in the aerosol can , can cover on average more than one car?
( It looks like the older Megs ultimate fast finish?l
Similar properties to FF....but much more durable.
Next you should try the New “RainX Graphene Pro” I hear it’s better than the Turtle Wax and most high end sprays 🤔
I shall look into it.
Looks good but I find it kind of iffy, but don’t get me wrong is a good product. Thanks for the info.
It sure is hard to find a category for it.
This product seems very comparable to Sonax Polymer Net Shield, except its on steriods. Even rainbows when ready to be removed. Honestly wonder if Net Shield adds any thickness to the paint??
Slight differences...one of them durability
could you add turtle wax hybrid solutions ceramic spray over this product or is there a better topper out that could be used with this product
How do you maintain it after the application? using shampoo and washing it with a high-pressure gun is ok?
Hi Brian, which is easier/faster to apply, this or can coat evo? Thanks
Can this be used on all exterior surfaces (headlights/taillights, plastic trim)?
All those chemicals to break it down is definitely extreme, product performs extremely well.
Im not sure if you covered this but can this jist be applied after a paint correction or do you still have to uses the prep
How do you think BC3 would work with this as a quick detailer, drying aid, or whatever?
Hi I had a home theatre subwoofer cabinet painted with an automotive finish. A few months later small roundish slightly raised bumps appeared on the clearcoat. Can i use compound to remove them?
Try wet sanding with 3K grit first....then polish out.
Can I apply this then the Meguiar's hybrid wax after about a week of waiting?
Can i use this hybrid coating after applying meguiars ultimate pack (meguiars ultimate compund, ultimate polish, liquid wax)?
Looks pretty good. I don’t see it mentioned, wondering if it can be used on non painted surfaces? Head/tail lights, plastic trim, glass etc.?
I have....all good.
Is it important to keep the towels specifically for both purposes the entire time? You switched them out quite a bit.
The only thing you need to keep an eye on... when one or the other get so saturated, it just pushes the coating around. Then it is time to grab two fresh towels.
Can it be topped with Lustre or Titan to add more gloss? Thank you.
Offtopic,
For a black car, you prefer nv lustre + jet or jescar ultra lock plus? Saying gloss and protection
Or do you have any other products u recommend for black car?
Lustre....hands down.
What if it goes on plastic or Matt paint does it come off easy
Test Koch Chemie Protector Wax please
Can you test the maxshine ceramic graphene coating?
a good test would be this vs gyeon new can coat evo.....gyeon for the win in the gloss factor....durability a toss up???? whatcha think??? for the same price i would choose the new gyeon evo over the megs
ua-cam.com/video/nMJ3vMejkAA/v-deo.html
Gyeon is a little more durable but doesn't have near the slickness.
Could you do a test on Scholl Concepts C-rock?
This new product that evolved from Meguairs Fast Finish spray from 5 years ago.
R&D behind this product makes claims that it could outlast pro coatings. It is only marketed as a 1 year coating, which is very conservative from what I hear. There's some crazy chemistry going on here but I think Megs may be conflicted on how to market the product. It's been on sale in many dept stores. Honestly from what I've seen it has outlasted most other OTC ceramic coatings, with little maintenance.
I agree...they are wishy washy on the marketing of it.
@@Shanecorbin68x That was my thought. That is the nice part about megs is they don't overpromise, and typically overdeliver.
Is this similar to Meguiars Fast Finish?
Great video. Did you receive any money from Meguiars for posting the video?
I answered this down below in another comment. Since I launched my product line...no matter how insignificant I may be to bigger companies. I am now a competitor. I do not get the offers other channels do. I appreciate your concern however.
What happens if you get this on plastics, like fender flares? Should you avoid them or coat them.
Doesn’t harm them. At worst it won’t bond/adhere. The pebbled typed plastics are actually enhanced according to MK's Details & Deep Dives. He’s well versed about this product.
I bought 6 of these kits on closeout, I didn't realize you can get that many applications out of a kit.
Any idea what the shelf life is on this?
Thats a great question, I also purchased a few knowing that because it was designed in a aerosol it had and extended shelf life. Im really pleased with the result on my vehicles so far. None of my vehicles required more than 1 coating to get full coverage.
Shelf life is less than a year. Better send a kit to me. 😜
@@gtbigdog3507 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Little bit of a coincidence but, I noticed Pan The Organizer came out with a video about this same product a couple days ago. Did Meguiars request this made or sponsor this?
I had to stop with Pan. He just isn't trustworthy. There are plenty of real world tests out there that I tend to lean on now.
@@aliaskink yeah they don't call him "pan the advertiser for nothing"
Keep this in mind... I don’t get sponsors as I have a product line of my own... which makes me a competitor no matter how insignificant I may be. Competition does not get sponsored by another company.
@@jacobkrauser5427 you can tell Pan did not get paid to review hybrid coating. He is never that critical of Turtle Wax or Avalon King.
I always liked Pan’s videos but after seeing the one he did on Lake Country’s pad washer I unsubscribed. I LOVE that pad washer but it has downsides that should be mentioned, and it was very obvious that he hadn’t really used it himself. I hate knowing that people new to detailing will probably see his channel before Apex, Car Craft, Forensics Detailing Channel etc.
So is this like fast finish 2? I've used that with success and this seems very similar.
Completely different products. The only thing this has in common with Fast Finish is the aerosol delivery method.
