Today I give some updates on my tank and what I have been up to.
The Red Sea Peninsula 650 feels like it has finally found it's groove. The tank now has an assortment of lights including a Kessil A360X, Kessil AP700, and a couple Kessil A360WEs. The bare bottom is keeping itself clean. The coral is flourishing. I also added a number of fish including a copperband butterfly fish, some lyre tail anthias, banggai cardinal fish, scissor tail dartfish, and more!

I have the same tank. The stand is failing after 6 months. Now have to get Red Sea to replace it. Yours is looking good.

Wow, your tank looks amazing, well done. i am purchasing the same tank in a couple of months, kept tropical for 30yrs but this will be my first saltwater. i was thinking of two mp40, what are you running ? been researching for 2yrs and now the time has come to decide which equipment to buy, this im finding difficult, theres almost too much choice and opposing opinions. i am excited to see your tank looking sooo great, and i will be replaying all your videos, THANK YOU for taking the time to help us.

I have two xf230 gyres and 2 Wavs on this tank myself.

watch the copper band and the file fish around your clam and lps, i suspect it has already been messing with them since you made a comment on the open brain not looking as good, also the clam looks like he has been messed with.
Love your tank. Are you worried about the epaulette shark trying to eat the porcelain crabs?
RipVan Winkle Yes, I am. Epaulettes love to eat crabs. It is an experiment to understand compatibility and share that with the community. My hypothesis is that he may not bother them in the anemone. We will see.

Chris Gibbs I won’t be able to make it this year 😢 Last year was a lot of fun and I made a video about it. It is a great way to spend all your money. My recommendation is to only bring cash you can burn and leave your credit cards at home! 🤣

Rambl3On I used to scrape it every two weeks. Recently the tank stabilized and has just stayed clean by itself the past 4 months. Starting to grow spots of coralline but I think I will leave that.
How do you clean the plastic sanded? Just like you would clean the glass?
Brah for one beautiful tank and pad.. living large like cray.. I started following you from the Maxspect razor x 200. Which I plan on buyin for my 36 long invo tank. Did you end up changing out because I see you have the hybrid setup with the Kessil. I also planing to go hybrid with my 360 Kessil on my 93 cub. Speaking of my 93, would you say that is small for that epaulette shark? I really wanted to get into the shark route however I don’t plan on getting another large tank for a while.. tubing out of room with 3 tanks around my home lol. Let me know what you think about getting one for a 93 cube and how long it would take before the next tank upgrade for the shark if I plan to keep it long term. I did see your video where you said the 150gal Red Sea was overkill for the baby shark. Btw how close is your shark related to the bamboo shark?

I sent the maxspect back. It was the best looking package I had ever seen but the wings were not very bright and the spectrum didn’t match the center lights. It would have worked fine for what I have but I the time I was planning to go SPS crazy and really wanted bright diffuse light from the sides. Epaulette could live in a 93 for a year no problem but then would get tight pretty quick. Probably make it to 1.5 years max. You will have to plan everything around the sharks bioload. If you have plans and $ set aside to upgrade to a 200plus then go ahead. Shark are awesome. Epaulettes are slightly bigger then bamboos but epaulettes are better suited for smaller aquariums because they are less active.
Puff Daddy Reef Thank you for the fast response. I’ll definitely take your advice into consideration. I have a basement so I guess when the time comes I’ll look at getting something in the 200-300gal range. I’ll also consult with my aquarium guy and see what he says also. He’s a good guy and has been taking care of things at my house while I’m deployed in the Middle East right now. I just got done with spending a grip on WWC cyber Monday sale.. it was awesome I got a lot of nice frags for my invo tank. I plan on doing a farm like you have and eventually fracin once they grow to a good size for my larger tanks. I’ll keep in touch. You have an awesome setup and I’ll definitely follow your lead in this hobby.

How much experience did you have before getting this tank? I am considering getting one but it's been years since I kept an aquarium so I'm worried about the challenge..

how is your ATO tank mounted ? and are you not concerned with the extra weight on your sump?
nyrep1 The tank comes with the auto that goes on the sump so It is designed for it. Probably would not do it on a regular sump. There is a glass track inside the sump that the auto sets on top of.
I have the same tank and have my Chaeto in the refugium area and same Kessil light, causes lots of algae in the sump, can you show a picture with the light on where your chaeto is and how you keep algae from taking over the sump?
Teresa McGaughey you mean green slime? My best solution for this problem is: not too much lighting (right now my phosphate is at 0,01 and the light is only 9 - 10h on) and if your chaeto is dying because of other algae I always put a little iron in the tank and it’s doubled in size in just 4 days. search eat sleep reef on UA-cam, he’s explaining everything about chateo

Flooring Superstore Sales Nope! Only that I can’t get a tilefish. Cleaning was tough until 9 months in. Now it cleans itself. Haven’t touched it in 4 months

Ken Meisch I will see if I can dig it up. It has been a while since I printed that for my previous tank. I have a whole lot of CAD mods I need to get out there including a mod for the COR return pump. In two weeks I will talk about it and hope to have the CAD repository ready by then.

How did you get your apartment/condo to sign off on having that large of an aquarium? Everywhere I go puts a 30 gallon max limit, but I would love to have an aquarium like yours, which is looking great! Nice to see more corals and fish
Tyler Bailey I asked them to modify the lease. They said “we don’t do that” but then made the change after I asked for my deposit to hold the apartment back.

Xxx Xxx not yet but someday maybe. Keep watching my updates as we discover what is and isn’t compatible with an epaulet. He’s almost a year old and so far so good!
