    Wholeheartedly agree with the auto top-off gripes. Mine failed after a week or two!

    Nice run through , I’d keep an eye on the wood splitting and treat those hinges with some rust protection or swap them out entirely for new ones.

    Great video as always. I agree with you on the door panel vs side. It's the main reason why I wrapped my tank just so all the cabinetry match and cure my OCD. The vinyl does help with ease of cleaning as well and very durable. I had to dump the ATO reservoir because the evaporation rate is just not ideal for this size tank. I replaced the gate valve for a much easier tuning. One thing I didn't see you mention is before you assemble the stand, you have to make sure which side of the tank you want access to. I wish Red Sea allowed you to access both side, especially since it's a room divider style tank and the ability to access cleaning the sump or moving in and around would be much easier (without chipping the glass if you know what I mean).

      @1985bignavy 4 роки тому +1

      The directions for putting the tank together were less than ideal. I had to flip to the back of the instructions to make sure I was understanding the exact difference between the L and the R as far as which side you wanted the sump to be on.
      Also, I saw your video on the ATO reservoir you got from Blue Tide Acrylics and ordered one myself. How often are you filling it and are you happy with the purchase?

    Nice to see a balanced discussion. I see RedSea as something to aspire to - met a guy yesterday that had one and he was pleased with it. Like all things, these tanks have some small gripes. I don't see improvements over fittings used on kitchen cabinets: Use of end panels that are out of the way and not the best quality, the door fittings that rust are straight out of a flat-pack kitchen unit. Surprisingly, on the smaller tanks, the cabinets also use a technique used on kitchen cabinets - the sides go right up to the top and the top is butted against it with only a few metal inserts to support the weight of the tank - in a kitchen there is the worktop to manage this style of construction. The mechanical Auto Top Up looks like something I would use to switch off an RO/DI in an emergency. So the devil is in the detail? At least some of this stuff can be replaced and the door hinges should be easy to swap out. I expect over time the things that don't work well can also be swapped out too.

If I am ever in your area will be sure to check out your store. I have Learned alot from your videos. Cools to see how other countries manage reefs. No chiller required in upstate NY where I am. Yep, hi I have red sea e-260 why did they make the 2nd drain emergency when you have to trickle into this to keep water level in sump stable, and also why does the gate value move allowing the water level to mess up everything. I will never by a red sea aquarium again do to not be sure how stable leaving the tabk for holidays would be

    I would address the other problem first, why is there water splash marks on the inside of your doors?
    2:32 and 2:45, that could be causing your hinges to rust.

  • @MW-ut3dk
    @MW-ut3dk 4 роки тому

    Agree with your list-quality of the tank is great but the stand and sump is just pure profit and price gouging given the quality and design. For the price the stand is awful and the sump design ie proprietary socks?! Bad ato!, are just not adequate. There needs to be three hinges to hold that door and the stainless steel quality has to be better. The stand would’ve been better with removable panels of lighter material ie acrylic/glass combo or even pvc or plastic, so that they’re lighter and more durable than wood. No need for doors just magnetized panels with an aluminum frame like Proclear aquatics Prostar setup or Mode aquariums stand. And give us a proper gate valve like Waterbox!

      @@PuffDaddyReef - Problem I have with the larger Waterbox systems is that the area underneath their stands are separated by partitions, leaving you with smaller compartments rather than a larger open sump area. And the sumps are my next issue with WB....the sumps are way too small for those large systems. The sump dimensions for their 220 is smaller than the 190 and 170 sump dimensions, which is ridiculous and why I haven't pulled the trigger on a larger system yet. I am however considering buying the Innovative Marine APS 200 stand which is all aluminum, has an open sump area, has 2 side doors, the back of the stand is open for ventilation, and is 30" deep which will allow for great aqua-scaping and plenty of room in the sump area for equipment. Then bite the bullet and get a custom built Reef Savvy tank to fit the dimensions of the stand. The reason for not going with IM's 200 tank is that it has eurobracing and I'm definitely not a fan of EB.....
