Thicker material is much harder to work with, and has less stretch generally speaking, meaning it may require seams where vinyl wouldn’t, meaning more time for installation, hence the additional charge. I also own a wrap company lol

No, this is how ita meant to be installed. You want to pull it as tight as you can without tearing it then use the small pad to push air out this allows it to stick to the car better. This stuff is a lot more durable then you would think, if its hit with a rock going down the road let it sit in the sun and it will fix itself and not damage the car ( clearly for you idiots if it's a big rock that dents the car or destroys the wrap it wont fix itself) Idk about ppf but wraps are good for up to 7 or 8 years if you take care of them ie keeping the car clean and inside a garage when not used.
So the whole point to a wrap is its supposed to be cheaper then repainting the car and allow you to change up the color of the car. The reason you would want it to protect the paint is so if say in 10n years you want to sell it it still looks good thus helping keep some value as with most things if the paint is faded, chipped, or orange peeled people will want to pay less bc it's not in best condition.
You dont need ppf for roof, all you need to do is protect your roof from dust scratches when cleaning the car.. for thst any wrap will do.. even the cheapest ones. PPF is good for rest of the body.
I bet you guys take the 2-3x cost and just charge them 2-3x more instead of truthfully charging 2-3x just fir the product. The cost of materials for these jobs is under $500, they charge $2-3k for labor...
Different materials require different work times. Thicker material is harder to work with and has less stretch generally speaking, which requires seams where a material with more stretch may not. I also own a wrap company lol. But there are people you can find that will wrap things cheaper, just know you usually get what you pay for
I wonder if you can use that material they had on the Wendy show? She wrapped up in a blanket and she disappeared. It was like some kind of electro magnetic material that blocked cameras.
Colored PPF is a solution to a problem that doesn’t exist. The whole point of PPF is to maintain the original look and finish. If you want a color change you go with vinyl. I have never seen issues with vinyl protecting paint from chips and scratches. Unless this has self healing properties i do not think it warrants the extra labor working with a thicker material
ppf is usually much thicker, so offers better underlying pain protection than vinyl... and in this case it's even better because you also have the vinyl protecting the original paint
Maybe 0,8mm because there is no way that is 8mm, also, why ppf on the roof..? I get ppf on the front and sides, but how much debry and rocks actually hit the top of the roof.
He said 8 mils, which is another unit of measure. 1 mils = 1 thousandth of an inch. So 8 mils is 8 thousandths of an inch or 0.203 mm. Hope that’s useful!
Can't really compare the two. PPF heals your paint after getting scratches and stuff, and ceramic coating doesn't let stuff build up on your paint. Just run both, there's ceramics that can be applied onto PPF now
Most PPF films has self healing properties. Where it’s not a high impact area, you still do introduce fine scratches to it when washes the vehicle and regular uses. The self healing film get rid of those scratches. There’s always changes rocks are flung up in the air from vehicles..:seldom, but it happens…
@@Doaclothingco I don’t think the car is wrapped. If you notice the car has matte PPF on it and the roof is still gloss from the original paint. So instead of wrapping the roof in matte PPF, the owner decided to go with gloss black PPF

Waste of money for black PPF, the issue with it is no matter how thick after years in the sun it fails the same so you just waste the money on the extra cost, it's going to peel like anything else.
Its not about rock chips here. Black vinyl roofs get a lot of sun damage and the PPF has a much higher gloss. Will last much longer and look a lot nicer.

To wrap the front end of a typical size car in expel ppf film it’s $1500 that’s good stuff
Doesn’t stretching the film like that hinder the durability? I assume the stretching would thin out the film from the original thickness?

What’s the point in protecting your paint if you can’t see it unless you’re keeping that car in a garage until it’s really valuable.
Ppf is usually clear. I think the black ppf is the "new product" because clear ppf has been out for years
Plus repainting is expensive. Ppf keeps your car looking nicer for longer

How do you know it’s durable if it’s only been out for about a year?
Car accidents duh
Also you can't wrap PPF on small curvy parts, only large areas

Not until you put it side by side with Vivid or Inozetek.
Where can you buy ppf? It seems like it's not that accessible for purchase
Why do you spray soap and squeegee before the PPF? Just to remove any dust or fibers left behind by a microfiber towel?
yes
PPF has glue that needs to adhere to a very clean surface.
