    Great video. I enjoy viewing your often very informational videos, especially the ones involving the Pinnacle. My wife and I recently purchased a like new 2020 Jayco Pinnacle 36SSWS 5th wheel and wanted to change out the existing door latch/lock set with the ONNAIS. I ordered one from Amazon and received it in a day. It ws the updated version as you talked about in your second video. We purchased the RV in Florida, where we live, and had it hauled out to California to be used as a summer home on the central coast. When we got to the RV in California a coule of weeks ago and settled in I decided to install the ONNAIS. Everything went real smooth until I got to the outside assembly installation. When in place, I found that the lockset overlapped the entry door window by about 1/4 to 3/8 of an inch. WOuldn't be able to get a good seal nor would it be flush against the door. I decided to remove it and put the original latch back in place. I went back into Amazon to see if I could return it. Can't do it as the return period has lapsed. I am now the proud owner of a three month old, new and never been used, ONNAIS.
    I also am now having JAYCOMMAND control panel issues. It appears the battery in the BMPRO tablet is in need of being replaced. Oh well! I have one on order now from Amazon. I used your link to get to that page. I have also ordered, received, and set up a secondary Levono 9" Tab. It is working fine as an alternate device. One thing with it though is that the BMPRO app doesn't translate to landscape mode. It maintains the look of the phone app display, wasting unused space on the sides.
    Keep up the good work!
    Thank, Bruce

      Thank you for the kind words, and appreciate the feedback. Sorry to hear about the fit on lock! I vaguely remember another user reporting same issue with a window. There must be another common window size used on RV doors that is wider than mine and prevents use. Again, sorry to hear about that. Hope the battery replacement goes smoothly on your tablet.

    I saw an Amazon review on this lock that during transit the door would jiggle open. Have you heard of such a problem?

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  5 місяців тому +1

      I haven't had that problem. Been using it for about 9 months on 2 different RVs. It's hard for me to imagine how it could jiggle open as both the handle lock and deadbolt would have to undo themselves. Maybe the reviewer forgot to lock both and left one or both undone?

    Don’t like the no key for the handle lock. I wish a manufacturer would make a lock where you can lock the handle from inside also. I currently have the rvlock keyless entry they been great had small warranty issue they sent me replacement parts right away. Those key fobs which we really don’t use seem big compared to others which if you’re keeping it in your pocket along with your auto fob could be really annoying. Another announce is why can’t they put on the 0? We have keyless locks on our house and garages which use a 0 and wanted to use same code but nope….

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  10 місяців тому

      I hear you, good points. I think the lack of locking mechanism on inside may be a code/safety issue for egress. The zero would be nice addition, but still having 1-9 at least is nice compared to the 4-digit ones (1-2,3-4,5-6,7-8 style = really just 4 digits).

  • @ChuckShrader
    @ChuckShrader Рік тому +5

    I'm confused... So basically, they have completely negated the door lock? Anybody can just walk up to the door and unlock it if you don't have the deadbolt locked?? I don't like that. Having no door handle seems like it would be a deal breaker for most people. Also, allowing people to hit random keys and if they happen to get the correct sequence at any time, it will unlock seems like poor security. For other locks, not knowing the number of keys required is part of the security.

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  Рік тому

      Good points. Manufacturer is very responsive and already working on a revised version with interior fixed grab handle to be released soon. The handlset knob on outside in lieu of key is definitely a first that I've seen. As you know on conventional RV locks there is a separate keyed lock for handset and deadbolt, kinda similar to a house, but the aux handleset lock is only accessible on the outside, meaning it's only possible to use the aux handlset lock when the RV is not occupied, such as in transit. I haven't seen an RV with a lockable handlset from the inside, but it's possible they might exist. On keyless RV locks the aux handlset lock still requires a key, so only the deadbolt is powered lock/unlock, leaving you to manually lock/unlock the handlset. I think the logic on the ONNAIS model is that since the aux handleset lock is only usuable when the RV is not occupied and for most RVers that equates to using it only in transit, they opted to ditch the keyed function in lieu of a knob (same mechanism behind the knob in the way it allows handle to be opened from inside for safety even with knob in lock position). So basically think of the knob serving to lock the handleset in the closed position during transit, as in the end that's how it is mostly used making the lock truly keyless. It's definitely different than any other lock on the market, and of course there is the one use-case where RVers may leave for the day with RV unoccupied and they may want to manually lock handlset for extra security, so it's just a different approach in the end. At first it seems out of the ordinary, but I get where they are coming from since most only use the aux handlset lock in transit.

    • @kurtburkhardt5862
      @kurtburkhardt5862 5 місяців тому

      Using the deadbolt all the time without needing any key is nice. The secondary lock while providing slightly more security is redundant. There are multi-thousands of possible combinations for the code while possible, it would be virtually impossible to guess the code randomly. Most RV keypads have less buttons so theoretically they would be easier to guess. Nothing is perfect. We are happy with ours so far.

  • @EarlBalentine

    The last rv lock I purchased the handle on the inside to grab and close the door was to flimsy and I think made of hard plastic. I thought I was going to break the lock every time I slammed the door closed. My door was tight fit and required a little more slam for it to close and latch. I sent the rv combo lock back for a refund. If I bought this new lock I have no way to slam it cloded and is the inside lock all metal or plastic?

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  8 місяців тому

      The new design with interior handle appears to be metal. It is very firm. I've been testing it for last month and plan to do updated review on the revised version that is for sale now. There's a lot to like on this one.

    I’m confused, why would you say this lock is for towables? I would be shocked if the lock excludes motorhomes.

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  7 місяців тому

      Yes, technically motorized require a different lockset vs towable rigs. Has a lot to do with safety concerns given the occupancy status during driving of towables (empty) vs motorized (occupied by passengers). Not sure if the NHTSA governs that or RVIA. But, typically the cut-outs are different to prevent owners from installing the wrong locksets. There are some exceptions of course where this one may fit select motorized units. But, this one is more for towables.

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  4 місяці тому

      Correct, it's like conventional locks where the inside handle overrides the outside key or lock on the handleset for egress. So no neighbors playing tricks on you unless you've got a folding grab bar handle that they can rotate and flatten across your door!

    I see they added the fixed handle, which is good. I wouldn't buy it without it. The other thing I don't like is the 8 digit keypad. If it's going to be setup like a ten digit keypad, then it should have ten digits. The two codes I would want to use have 0, 9 or both. I like the solid construction and the medal latch. I'm not liking that thumb latch on the handle either. I'd rather have a key lock.

    I'll stick with my RVlock brand. The pin sequence whereas long as the pin is entered other numbers can be pressed will give people better odds of guessing the pin. Not having a handle on the inside is ridiculous. Thanks for the review though.

    • @AdventureRocks
      @AdventureRocks  Рік тому

      Good feedback! Manufacturer is already working on revised model with inside fixed handle to be released soon. I hear you on the security concerns! I hadn't thought about that till you pointed it out, so I did some calculations. ONNAIS is unique in that the PIN is 5 digits minimum (max 10) with 8 possibilities (1-8) for each position, so over 32,000 possible combinations at only 5 digits long (over 1 billion possibilies at 10 digits long). If I'm not mistaken I think most competing brands such as the RVLock brand offer 4 possibilities for each position and only 4 digits long, which equates to 256 possible combinations. So ONNAIS is quite unique on that front with 32K+ combinations. I would imagine one could literally brute-force a 4x4 PIN keypad just by trying 256 possible combinations one after the next in a few hours, but seems unlikely for over 32K combinations as in the case of ONNAIS. I'd imagine there is probably a memory on the ONNAIS as far as how long the live input is recorded before it forgets input without hitting the "enter" button, combined with the 32K possibilities so seems quite secure. I hadn't done the calculations till you pointed it out, but I think the 32K+ combinations is what enables the "stealth" PIN entry to be secure still on the ONNAIS compared to others with only 256 possibilities. It's definitely a unique offering either way, so gotta appreciate the innovation and trying something new. I'm going to continue testing it out in months ahead. Appreciate the feedback in meantime!

    I’ve seen a lippert door handle which can be reached by a short person from the bottom or second step which may or may not work with this and would, if it is indeed compatible, make it easier to get in. Our Winnie class a has a door lock and a deadbolt keyed independently with identical appearing keys. It was annoying until I put a dab of nail polish on the door lock key. People do stuff differently but we use the deadbolt to lock ourselves in at night and while driving. It needs a key from the outside to lock it so we rarely use it. Now, I do like the idea of the key fob for hands free unlocking. In our frequent NASCAR camping trips, I put the door key on a lanyard with my hot pass. I’ve pulled stuff out of pockets and had keys drop, money blow away it. I like the remote feature a lot, especially if I need to unlock the door for someone to tote something in without giving up my code. Our house at home has three exterior doors. None have keys. All are Yale, HomeKit controlled meaning voice as well as a phone or watch. Now just get me a fully automated voice system for my camper! Hey siri, put out the awning!

If you have the Bauer keyed alike locks on your Jayco already, you could opt for the Bauer slam latch handlesets and request them to be keyed alike. Otherwise if you don't have Bauer keyed alike already, you could do any brand. I really like the all metal construction; plastic is not our friend in RV accessories. Curious how the full sized keypad will endure the brutal summer sun over the next few years. Seems to be an issue with currently available lock sets. Also wonder if the exterior handle lock can be manipulated from the inside? I believe you pointed out the two critical issues with the lock. 1: being able to turn the handle lock from the outside without a key. 2: No handle on the interior of the trailer to shut the door with. Both issues are an easy fix, delete the ability to lock the handle all together and put a pull handle on the interior portion of the lock. I would like to know what makes this lock superior to my existing lock. I don’t use fobs and the placement of the numbers do not make that big of a difference. Obviously, the programming of the unit to allow you to punch extra keys before and or after entering your code is new to the market but still not enough for me to switch brands. Frankly I am not worried about someone in a the RV park being able to see me punch in my code. All of this being said, unless I missed it there was no pricing given in this video. If there were a higher level security feature included with this lock, maybe I could be persuaded to try one out.
