Yeh, I got one. There great! Very easy to set up an use. I got good results on my chisels and drills. Like everything else. You work with what u got. Dont try too hard an compare the product to anything else...
Glad it worked for you, I just couldn't get it to sit right for me. Like you say, you've got to work with what you've got. Thanks for watching, Jimmy 👍
It is great for chisels, will run of an inverter and is best used for removing chips before you sharpen properly. Saves wear on expensive stones and saves a lot of time.
Thanks for the trusty review. The vibration was a bit much. It made my tablet fall over just as you were speaking about the vibration. 😂 I guess for people who don't know how to sharpen chisels etc, it gets them ahead. Professionals of course, like to do a lot of work to the back and front plus the cutting angle.
I don't think it's really any good for anyone. You are much better off buying a small grinding wheel from machine mart. At least it has a proper stone and not some grit paper stuck on a plastic wheel 🤣🤣
Thank God for that, I thought it was me. It's not you, Jim, it's naff. However, as a first year engineering apprentice we had to learn firstly by hand and eye. I ground lathe tools of all shapes and also drill bits, and it is very easy to do if you think about making the two edges equal and most importantly starting at the cutting edge rotate back BUT putting on a steeper incline away from the edge to create CLEARANCE. This wheel should do very well freehand.
Thanks Jimmy, was tempted to buy this, sold out now as usual, when they come back in, I'll hopefully have a better sharpener. What would yoy recommend, I'm mainly needing drill bits sharpened?
Aldi Occasionally have a grinding wheel in stock which is a fantastic bit of kit. One you get the feel for sharpening them feel hand then it really is a joy to use 😊
Sounds like a didgeridoo. I think for 4 $19.50 IT'S good value - the plastic parts are fairly solid and overall the thing seems thoughtfully designed. Laborers want $20/ hour and this thing would take at least an hour to make plus materials and technology. What's to be expected for $20!
Good grief, you have totally misunderstood how to use the drill sharpener. First, put the drill in the holder, tighten it to snug, and offer it up to the wheel and get the distance approximate. Second, put the holder in the left location - the vee sets the rotation of the drill, so push the vee part gently towards the drill bit and rotate the bit until the vee moves as far a down as possible without pushing the drill. You have now set the rotation of the drill. Tighten the bit holder and offer it up to the wheel (with the rotation away from the wheel). You can now check that out clears the wheel and touches when you rotate it. To adjust the bit to get a smaller or greater cut, put the holder back in the left-hand part, loosen it slightly and push the vee up using the bit. Note that you can turn the holder the other way up to grind the other side, it's just fiddly.
just used the same tool to sharpen kitchern knifes and just ruined them all now got to go to wet and dry to bring them back awful tool for doing knifes
Buy yourself a decent oil stone or whetstone and work on it slowly. Thanks to this video I got contacted by a local chap who teaches sharpening axes and knives using stones.
I have seen a few videos of this crap, and it's a joke, if it was made of quality materials then maybe it would be OK, but it's all plastic, and it is not accurate for angles, and the motor is poor
Drill bits are about the best it does, it's all wrong for chisels as it uses the radius edge creating a scoop in lieu of a flat bevel , all wrong and it doesn't slide smoothly , on the other hand their chain saw sharpener is superb
Knives: Best sharpen 1side then 1 stroke other side to remove Burr /~ under a Microscope you see overhang after sharpening Knives/tools why a few strokes on a stone to remove it Picked this unit up 1/2 price got my Kitchen Knive razer sharp Does what it says Diamond wheel does a good job - Mite Even do your Fingernails if yours are old hogwart type xd
called a WorkZone in OZ many diff names same product I thought it was some sort chuck drive for a quick lathe Jig at 1st glance why i bought it seen the gear on front the motor inside is simular to what you find in pedestal Fans
Well, it is on sale to the general public so I thought I would give it a go. The instructions weren't very clear and it was difficult to use. I had better luck with the nail gun though 👍

That's fantastic advice.
Thanks for sharing,

Brilliant Jimmy, honest and said as you saw it matey !
Cheers, it was genuinely terrible.
I'm sure you can buy a proper grinding stone for £10 extra and get better results doing it free hand.
Just sharpened an extended 6mm drill bit, sharp enough again; sharpener already half paid for. It’s pretty flimsy but does the job for a plumber
Happy days, I'm glad you got it to work.
I gave mine away 👍

Yeah it is loads better freehand. In fact I got a Clarke grinding wheel for £40 and just use that now.
Thanks Jimmy, was tempted to buy this, sold out now as usual, when they come back in, I'll hopefully have a better sharpener. What would yoy recommend, I'm mainly needing drill bits sharpened?

Go Jimmy
Thanks for your support 👍
You should turn the drill bit attachment upside down to sharpen the other side.
I wish you had told me that before I threw it away 🤣🤣👍

You have explained more to me in one post than I understood from hours of studying the instructions, I will have to give it another go.
Thank you 😊
@@JimmyTheMower you're welcome, but I do agree that it's not a quality piece of kit...
just used the same tool to sharpen kitchern knifes and just ruined them all now got to go to wet and dry to bring them back awful tool for doing knifes
Oh no 😢
Same. Used it on my cleaver and messed it up. Looking at what kind of sharpening stones I'm going to need to bring it back to life.
Buy yourself a decent oil stone or whetstone and work on it slowly.

@@garymulvaney3429 get wet and dry and double sided tape and sheet of glass they just as good as sharpening stones
@@1981dasimpson Good call 👍
I did have to laugh at that one Jim lad.
It was really frustrating 🤣🤣🤣
It puts a flat bevel on drill bits as it doesn't rotate the bit as it grinds . Better machines rotate the bit as it sharpens .
It's the worst Aldi tool I've ever bought. So disappointed with it 👍
the video on No Inches DIY explains the drill bit sharpener. setting the bit is critical to get the tips sharp. I'm sure my one is good for 13mm
Thanks you, I will take a look.
Cheers
Jimmy 👍
Read the instructions it’s like watching a chimp at a tea party
You’ll be at that 1000 in no time
That's the plan jockey, thanks for your support 👍
If you do screw/bolt the machine down you wouldn’t have to hold it, giving you two hands to control your work piece.
That's a great suggestion. But I honestly think the thing is just junk 👍
I have seen a few videos of this crap, and it's a joke, if it was made of quality materials then maybe it would be OK, but it's all plastic, and it is not accurate for angles, and the motor is poor
Agreed
Wow on my way back to Aldi to return it lol. Dreadful
Did you give it a go 🤣🤣🤣

Most of the other stuff is pretty good 👍
A bad workman always blames his tools lol
Yeah I bet 🤣🤣🤣
To bad you did not fix the sharpener to the table, one hand to hold the sharpener, the other to sharpen the tool not a good technique.
You are correct. It may have worked better if I had screwed it down so it didn't move.
Moving on, I can tell u havent sharpen much of anything before, ps closer videos of the tool instead of u
We've got better cameras now and I've had some practice sharpening stuff 🤣🤣
It's an absolute piece of crap . Get yourself a few pints instead.
100% agree 🤣🤣🤣👍

Exactly....
Do not buy it.
Stay away from aldi middle isle 😉😂🤣
Definitely swerve this one.
Cheap plastic rubbish 🗑
You're too kind to ferrex on this one
🤣🤣🤣
I bought one yesterday, I'll be taking it back to get a refund. It's a piece of crap.
🤣🤣🤣
at least you have shown the sort of person that should not buy this or any other tool or power tool, how stupid can you get, how not to use it
