It’s a reveal trailer. What’s the point of showing gameplay now if the game isn’t coming out until 2026? People act like Naughty Dog is some unknown studio who hasn’t won multiple GOTY awards smh
honestly they don't need to. No one is buying anything. This is just telling the name and the setting of what the game is. The selling part comes later.

Another GOTY winning studio CDPR revealed their game the same day and that trailer is way better. You got to see their protagonist fighting a giant monster. I prefer that over Naughty Dogs approach.
The last of us reveal trailer didn’t tell you anything other than it was a zombie game and that Ellie and Joel are the protagonists. Very similar to how this trailer tells you it’s a sci-fi game and the protagonist is Jordan.
@@thecasualchemist-S i mean, you can read the story of the last of us on wiki in like 5 minutes. Just cuz you can make it shorter doesnt make it better. You wouldnt be able to fisplay the style, character, atmosphere and setting in 30 seconds... but you can make her take the call "here is your bounty" "thanks" and fire up the ship... but im sure there is a tiktop edit like that somewhere..
@gygedi i just think the edit is bad in general. The long zooming space shots are supposed to be epic, but they last so long it just feels indulgent. They spend a lot of time with the main character arguing with her agent, but instead of making her seem like a risk-taking go-getter, she comes off as kinda bratty. I also don't feel like the tone is cohesive overall. The space shots, and the shots of her in the ship, and then the 2 seconds of combat all feel like they belong in different games. Idk if this will be a problem on release - hopefully it's just a symptom of a bad trailer.
@thecasualchemist-S i don't think the zooming space shot is meant to be epic. Its more like the lonelyness of space, kinda melancolic/mysterious. And it cuts to the charavter who seems to be in a similiar mindset. Alone and driven by some mysterious goal. She might be bratty thats subjective if someone likes that or not. Doesnt exclude the fact that she has a goal and doesnt let anything sway her 🤷♂️ I also didnt feel any disconnect from the gameplay snippit we saw. Especially with the sword having the music thing to it.
@thecasualchemist-S also they hardly argue? She wants to talk her down because of the danger (obv cares about her) while the protag just doesnt care cuz has a goal. Wasnt all that much arguing there
If you want to market something that is uncharted, this isn’t the way you do it. Which means likely they don’t have anything exciting to show. This isn’t a low Budget project nor a new studio. I personally has no interest in it nor gonna invest my time with it if they can’t even do better with the tone or least give some gameplay
No it doesn't look bad but if it was a choice between buying this game or the Witcher 4 based on these first look teasers/trailers it's no contest. Its strange to think that this game will probably come out before the Witcher because just looking at this teaser it looks further away from a release
The bald isn't even the problem with the design on the main character, it's the fact that her design is a blatant Akira knockoff. Like you have these enemies that look cool and unique, get your own damn look.
For a new IP, I would have liked some gameplay or some interesting details about the world. All this trailer really tells us is "The main character is a bounty hunter in space" which isn't exactly groundbreaking. We know Naughty Dog can do high fidelity visuals and cutscenes, show us something NEW.
The non stop product placement ruined it for me. Everything else i dont care about. It felt like they knew the game was gonna fail but they could pitch it to suits and make money from placements at least. Also i cannot get past the fact that this 50 year old woman with an eye patch sounds like shes 19...
2:50-3:00... that face is all I will remember this trailer and game for and I bet that's how everyone working on thr game acted when the internet went ballistic. And that other character said it best.

Yeah it doesn’t look bad at all. It’s a cinematic trailer. No gameplay, we don’t know if there’s space exploration or if it takes place all on one planet. How can you make a snap judgement that it’s bad
Ok you two definitely need to be sitting at like a small conference table to make these great discussions. It's good to watch both of you talk kinda like a talk show for games.
This is an awesome trailer! Banging music, dark mood, retro future neon, and sets the tone for the adventure to come! Exactly what I want out of a teaser.
The 80s nostalgia retrofuturism theme is incredibly played out and is on its death bed, the tone and artistic direction in this trailer reeked of creative stagnation trying to capitalize on the dying dredges of a fading trend
That's the issue with trend chasing in video game development. Too much time and money get sunk in the project before they figure out the trend is dead.
There’s nothing about it that would get you hyped. Story seems meh, protagonist isn’t unique or interesting. The setting is something we’ve seen many times. I was a little hyped at the robot fight part cause MAYBE there could be some fun melee combat but other than that, this doesn’t get me excited…
Playing the Crash Theme music really adds ambiguity to the tone of the trailer. It makes me feel almost unsure for some reason. Will this game take itself seriously I wonder? Could be fun to see where they will take it tbh
Luke this is telling. Idk if your wife plays games regularly but if she is more on the casual side that says a lot. The unrelatable character thing is soooo true
I dismissed it off the one trailer is because If that's the FIRST IMPRESSION you want to give your main character, I know I'm not going to be able to tolerate the character or writing barring that being a horrible misrepresentation that's only over turned by the full game coming out
Naughty dog hasn't impressed me in a long time. Graphics don't matter to me. At all. Since the ps4 its hit a ceiling on how impressive graphics are. Gameplay and story are 3x times more important. So far the trailer is not interesting. I don't really care for 80's vibe. And space is kinda played out recently.
The anime show that’s playing on the tv looks more interesting than the actual trailer itself I deadass want to know if its a real anime and the name of it
Comparing Intergalactic, a brand new IP with the trailer of a very recognizable franchise is so unfair. I understand not liking the trailer, I'm not a huge fan but the hate this game is receiving feels so shallow and artificial.
9:49 its a cinematic teaser trailer. Its not going to have gameplay. In the same way when cyberpunk 2077 , FF7 R and es6 was first announced. I think the only reason naughty dog ia getting heat for this trailer is because of their recent reputation of making remasters over and over and the death march on their dev team.
Unappealing main - looks like the bald girl from TLoU with Ellie's tat Nostalgia bait double dip - one hit for the 80s and another for 90's. Everyone that bought any stock in general during Jan-Mar 2020 saw this theme coming. More than enough product placement to put an adblock user to sleep. More power to you if you're genuinely into this kind of thing, but this is the first AAA video game trailer to actively take me out of the immersion of watching videos all together and do something else.
It is a teaser trailer. It establishes the tone, introduces a couple of characters, and provides some hints to keep you guessing. How this is considered bad, I have no idea. Unless by trailer you mean set-pieces. At this point, it is clear that many gamers are looking for a pretext to shit on ND on account of their narrative choices in TLOU2. A baffling attitude, but one that should be expected given the maturity level of the audiance.
I think they should've called it a teaser rather than a trailer. A teaser usally just offers a little glimpse into a new project. It doesn't really go into a lot of detail but instead just gives you an idea what this new project is roughly about. It's purpose is to simply grab people's attention and to put the new thing on their map. A trailer on the other hand is more meaty. It usually provides you with a deeper look into the story and the world. Ideally, it also gives a more varied look of what's in the game (cinematics, conversations, gamepla mechanics etc.). This is just a teaser, and I think if they would've labeled it as such they could've saved themselves a lot of drama. It seems like the modern ND is under the impression they can release anything and call it whatever, and people are just gonna get excited which just isn't the case. If anything, then people have become way more critical (rightfully so) than they used to be. They definitely grabbed my attention with this "trailer" but if they actually want me to get excited then they just need to show more.
The photo on the wall is super important, and they kinda gloss over it. It explains why she's going to the moon. But since they glossed over it it's feels idiotic for her to go to a moon noone escaped for 600 years for a bounty when the target basically dead.
as a naughty dog fan and someone who respects Luke's opinion, I will say I respectfully disagree, maybe I am really into this way too much but i think the trailer tells us too much about the character. it is clear she was like the young bubbly restless member of the 5 aces as seen in the clipboard image shown, kind of like a starlord type but maybe she was betrayed or rather thinks she was betrayed by them which hardened her hence her shaving, and glimpses of her more gleeful side shows as she is acting tough but it is clear that it is all a façade because deep down she is a softie and what happened to her - again i might be reading too into this. again I get the art style is not for everyone but please, this is from NAUGHTY DOGG, have faith in them and Neil Drachmann to deliver. for people saying they hate this because Jordan is a woman, bald and she is black are all just closet sexists and racists so go F them all. for people who dislike this because of the art direction and the nod of product placement in classic 80s movies I totally respect your opinion.
The issue is she's shaving her head after the presidential election, and everyone saw the 4B movement. It's a coincidence but too close to tell the difference for the general public. The trailer was a massive failure because it looks like the game is going to be another stereotypical modern audience game. People in general don't want to play a game with overt politics in it or a game that gives that perception.
I gotta say pointing out the protagonist and how crazy the decision making process with it is isnt a bad faith argument and the reason channels like the one you complained about are ballooning is cause channels like this refuse to acknowledge the other side in good faith and always steel man the industry side while straw manning the consumer.
Naughty Dog is also on an uphill battle to earn fan’s trust back. After that straight up lie in the LOU2 trailer where they made it seem Joel was with Ellie again.
I think the shaving head in this part 1:50 ts is a shout out to Agent Cobra, Probably none here remembers but when he went into hiding, he cut off his hair, then it's the thing playing in the tv. I Don't know just my thoughts, cause he dyed his hair too.
the trailer wasnt alot to show, just because the hype that its a naughty dog. Thats all people see besides the controversy on the characters. Eye patch lady person, they sound like they lost their voice from smoking
2:03 Was that the actor who played Lalo in better call saul in the group shot? I would be so much more hype with him as the protag just cause I think he'd do the space outlaw thing really well. Maybe he'll end up being the antagonist
I’m confused as to why all of a sudden people think the first damn trailer needs to reveal everything about the game. Teaser/reveal trailers almost never tell you much about a game. Especially naughty dog
How much do you really need from a first teaser? The game showed the protagonist, her bounty target, her ship where she lives, a bunch of news clippings showing her past, her conversation with her contact for bounty work. I thought they did a good job of establishing some tension in their working relationship without giving too much away. It showed and named the moon and the main religion, and the first quote gives you a sense of that religion. You got a feel for the tech of the world. You even got a gameplay teaser at the end. I wouldn't have wanted a bunch of gameplay before I even know the concept and story. I'm sure there will be big gameplay reveals later, they have months/years before this launches.
@jcaashby3 For sure, and I don't think the product placement is a big deal either. I'm not going to waste my time worrying that a studio with a track record for quality like Naughty Dog will turn their games into playable ads. We should have a bit more faith than that.
@jcaashby3 1:1 swap...no I would not have felt any differently. Design was boring, and filled with adds placements. Dialogue was generic which only matters because it was the focus of the whole thing. Ad placements are lame, and that doesn't change with the character either. The general attitude of mc was off putting as well. May feel different with more context, but there wasn't more, again doesnt change with gender. I dont feel anything for the game after watching it, so it was bad

It’s should’ve showed us more to sell the IP. Two characters we don’t know bantering doesn’t get anyone excited. The fight at the end should’ve been the main focus of the trailer.
@@nicekix3038 YES I don't know when people started to think Naughty Dog is an average normal developer. Every game they've made has been game of the year! Clearly they are not showing much because they don't need to. I'm sure the game is far off. They will show a bunch before it comes out. Like every other new ip trailer.
@@terrythegnome2408 Not every ND game has won GOTY, but I think ND deserves a little more respect than they’re currently receiving from the gaming community
@@nicekix3038 Naughty Dog is a great studio that’s made some amazing games, but when it comes to reveal trailers, this one falls flat. Another GOTY winning studio CDPR revealed their game the same day and that trailer is way better. You got to see their protagonist fighting a giant monster. I prefer that over Naughty Dogs approach.
I agree with her about the protag whole heartedly. Thus far, I feel nothing for this character. Her design is also a bit lazy to me.
I think your music choice works better honestly
Even if You go back and watch the first the last of us 2013 trailer revealed it at least gives you an idea of what the game is about
The last of us reveal trailer didn’t tell you anything other than it was a zombie game and that Ellie and Joel are the protagonists. Very similar to how this trailer tells you it’s a sci-fi game and the protagonist is Jordan.
@@mrjjisawesome12 Shhhh don't speak facts. They get angry when you do.
It’s sad when the only cool parts of a trailer are the Sony music player and a Porsche starship.
Fun fact: That's not how you hold a razor. Especially when shaving your head. You'll literally hurt yourself.
They could have imparted all the same information in a 30 second trailer. It's bloated, and I certainly don't think that's helping.
Doesnt exclude the fact that she has a goal and doesnt let anything sway her 🤷♂️
I also didnt feel any disconnect from the gameplay snippit we saw. Especially with the sword having the music thing to it.
@thecasualchemist-S also they hardly argue? She wants to talk her down because of the danger (obv cares about her) while the protag just doesnt care cuz has a goal. Wasnt all that much arguing there
i Really love that your wife has her own trailer reactions or analysis without any spoilers. Gotta love her 1st genuine reaction.
I shave my head in the morning, it's so refreshing, just like washing your face
Why does it sound like the older lady with the eyepatch is voiced by a much younger voice actress? It doesnt match.
Really? Her voice sounds gravely to me. Like a middle aged bar fly.
Doesn’t look that bad but we do need more
Agreed, it's best to wait to cast judgment upon we get more information about the game.
Nah.
If you want to market something that is uncharted, this isn’t the way you do it. Which means likely they don’t have anything exciting to show. This isn’t a low
Budget project nor a new studio. I personally has no interest in it nor gonna invest my time with it if they can’t even do better with the tone or least give some gameplay
I think it looks bad
No it doesn't look bad but if it was a choice between buying this game or the Witcher 4 based on these first look teasers/trailers it's no contest. Its strange to think that this game will probably come out before the Witcher because just looking at this teaser it looks further away from a release
The music in the trailer is awesome! The only thing interesting to me in the trailer
It reminded me of Mass Effect 1
the synth and melody of it is really basic and lame I think. Any song in TLOU2 soundtrack is way better.
I loved the synth
Why not just give us The Last of Us Part 3? Nobody wants this
The bald isn't even the problem with the design on the main character, it's the fact that her design is a blatant Akira knockoff. Like you have these enemies that look cool and unique, get your own damn look.
Crash theme is the best thing about this trailer! 😂
For a new IP, I would have liked some gameplay or some interesting details about the world. All this trailer really tells us is "The main character is a bounty hunter in space" which isn't exactly groundbreaking. We know Naughty Dog can do high fidelity visuals and cutscenes, show us something NEW.
Most reveal trailers for triple A's do not reveal gameplay. They're to establish theme and concept.
The non stop product placement ruined it for me. Everything else i dont care about. It felt like they knew the game was gonna fail but they could pitch it to suits and make money from placements at least.
Also i cannot get past the fact that this 50 year old woman with an eye patch sounds like shes 19...
RIGHT?!?! NOBODY ELSE IS TALKING ABOUT THE EYE PATCH LADY SOUNDING LIKE A FUCKING VALLEY GIRL! God, that was infuriating and irritating!
Naughty Dog are Concord signaling
2:50-3:00... that face is all I will remember this trailer and game for and I bet that's how everyone working on thr game acted when the internet went ballistic. And that other character said it best.
its an announcement trailer it makes sense there wasnt any gameplay shown it wasnt bad it was just introducing the character and hints to the world and story
yeah but not because 80's sci-fi had ads, because it's a classy way to put ads everywhere and say it's not because they can put ads everywhere. 🤦🏼
Yeah it doesn’t look bad at all. It’s a cinematic trailer. No gameplay, we don’t know if there’s space exploration or if it takes place all on one planet. How can you make a snap judgement that it’s bad
Simperian - a planet full of simps. That's a scary thought
@@krombopulost4699 😂😂😂
This trailer looks like a huge Pepsi commercial 6:34
Looks like a game for comic book movie fans (they have no taste and will play anything and say it was good).
4:05 😂😂😂😂😂 Oh Luke! 😂😂
lowkey jamming to it lmao
Ok you two definitely need to be sitting at like a small conference table to make these great discussions. It's good to watch both of you talk kinda like a talk show for games.
This is an awesome trailer! Banging music, dark mood, retro future neon, and sets the tone for the adventure to come! Exactly what I want out of a teaser.
The 80s nostalgia retrofuturism theme is incredibly played out and is on its death bed, the tone and artistic direction in this trailer reeked of creative stagnation trying to capitalize on the dying dredges of a fading trend
Yeah along with all the Generic Fantasy games they have just been over done in gaming.
This video makes me remember why I hate the internet... You can't be serious, at least wait until the game is out ffs.
I dismissed it off the one trailer is because If that's the FIRST IMPRESSION you want to give your main character, I know I'm not going to be able to tolerate the character or writing barring that being a horrible misrepresentation that's only over turned by the full game coming out
I was born in 1986, perhaps I'm the reason for the technology jump?.
I think a fun game to play would be to show this trailer to a friend and ask “so… what do you think the gameplay will be?”
It's funny to see channels like skill up and Luke not to point out the elephant in the room
Cucked for money
They fear being ejected from the media ecosystem.
Because its only one point for people to critique but its not the core issue people have with the trailer. Much like dragon age veilguard
I agree 💯. I wish there was a little more gameplay but it was good enough for now.
The first last of us trailer is Fair when first saw that trailer i was interested in Lsst of us 1.
Maybe instead of subverting expectations, they should aim for delighting their audience.
Love the spaceship, love the robot, love the lightsaber. Praise stops there though.
Warhammer trailer make me want to play that game
9:49 its a cinematic teaser trailer. Its not going to have gameplay. In the same way when cyberpunk 2077 , FF7 R and es6 was first announced. I think the only reason naughty dog ia getting heat for this trailer is because of their recent reputation of making remasters over and over and the death march on their dev team.
Unappealing main - looks like the bald girl from TLoU with Ellie's tat
Nostalgia bait double dip - one hit for the 80s and another for 90's.
Good to know that Adidas, Porsche, CDs and SONY PRODUCTS will all still be in business hundreds of years in the future...
Goddamn🤣
This game actually takes place in the past, in the 80s
The fact those shoes look like something you can go out and buy today is just lame
@@DuudsCreatesIf you read the statements about the game from Naughty Dog, this takes place over a thousand years in the future.
@@deathsyth8888No lol
The music for the trailer is out this world
Why is that dude at 3:22 looks like old Kumar? Is she going to kill older Kumar? Noooooo!!!!!!
Cinematic trailers with little to no gameplay are never good to me unless it's a sequel to a game we are already familiar with.
The photo on the wall is super important, and they kinda gloss over it. It explains why she's going to the moon. But since they glossed over it it's feels idiotic for her to go to a moon noone escaped for 600 years for a bounty when the target basically dead.
If you ever feel stupid, remember that Geoff hyped this trailer up over Crimson Desert's
As a teaser it would have been smarter to just show the title
as a naughty dog fan and someone who respects Luke's opinion, I will say I respectfully disagree, maybe I am really into this way too much but i think the trailer tells us too much about the character. it is clear she was like the young bubbly restless member of the 5 aces as seen in the clipboard image shown, kind of like a starlord type but maybe she was betrayed or rather thinks she was betrayed by them which hardened her hence her shaving, and glimpses of her more gleeful side shows as she is acting tough but it is clear that it is all a façade because deep down she is a softie and what happened to her - again i might be reading too into this. again I get the art style is not for everyone but please, this is from NAUGHTY DOGG, have faith in them and Neil Drachmann to deliver.
for people saying they hate this because Jordan is a woman, bald and she is black are all just closet sexists and racists so go F them all. for people who dislike this because of the art direction and the nod of product placement in classic 80s movies I totally respect your opinion.
It’s a teaser for the story and it’s got me hyped
STOP IT !!!
Kinda feels like people just want to be upset about this trailer no matter what. It feels like more of a teaser than a full on trailer.
Agreed. All the hate on this "trailer" is lame.
It's fine to not be excited or disinterested but that's not what's happening.
I have to say, the trailer/teaser isnt doing a good job persuading me to spend $70 for the game atm.
Yeah, Tony Dalton is in the game
man, Luke is lucky
so jelly right now😢
Concord 2 looks interesting maybe it’ll last 16 days
I’m confused as to why all of a sudden people think the first damn trailer needs to reveal everything about the game. Teaser/reveal trailers almost never tell you much about a game. Especially naughty dog
The music is so good.
Intergalactic: Remastered Edition coming 2030 on PS6 Pro.
If you've trained your pattern recognition abilites with games for years, be confident in those abilities.
Nail on the head about the trailer being ill suited to a new IP
I felt like there was certain vibes.
I've been annoyed by these cinematic trailers since I was a teen, I'm now in my thirties so these things must work to still be done.
did anybody notice that she's holding the trimmer incorrectly? that's not how you shave your hair.
This game makes Concord look like a masterpiece.
Well you wouldn’t know that cause the game isn’t out yet
Kid: "Mom I wanna play No More Heroes."
Mom: "We have No More Heroes at home."
Intergalactic.
I came away feeling the same.
I can bet if they had a man instead of a woman the reception would be totally different.
