Some info about Kindred Blades: 1)The Prince still has his WW clothes. 2)Has the amulet of time and a simple dagger as main weapon. 2)Can become a sand monster, the Dark Prince, with the fire and return normal with water. 3)When transformed into the DP he lost his dagger and can retrieve an enemy's weapon and use it as primary weapon with the daggertail and you could have switched from LP to DP with the pressure of a button, when near fire, and to remain it, you would have had to find another way to go ahead without touching water, for example secret passages usable only by the DP. 4)There were day/night cicles, scripted only sometimes. 5)The main antagonist was originally a doppelganger of the Prince, who had the Dagger of Time. 6)There were some level cuts, for example the Babel Tower and the Prison level, but some of them were reintroduced in the american version of "Prince of Persia Rival Sword" for the psp as bonus levels after the Prince deactivates a portal, and there were more chariot races, at least 8. 7)There were more enemies, including the ones in screenshots and some of WW too, like Golems, Keepers, Blade Dancers and Assassins. 8)There were chase scenes with a giant sand snake, controlled by the doppelganger, that was meant to retrieve the amulet of time from the Prince and kill him, it appears in the Prince of Persia 3 mobile game. 9)Kaileena would have sacrificed herself when the Prince was captured in the Babel Tower by some swordsmen and archers. 10)Farah wouldn't have been in the game, only mentioned. 11)The Doppelganger would have transformed king Sharaman, Queen Mehri and the Old Man in sand creatures. 12)The Prince would have had to kill them, Sharaman in the Tower, Queen Mehri in the garden area, before the Stone Guardian and the Old Man in the Lower city level. There still were Klompa, Mahasti and the Twins, but they were only creations of the doppelganger, all the enemies weren't humans before. 13) The doppelganger was supposed to be an inhabitant of the Island of Time who takes the shape and the memories of the Prince and uses the powers of the sands with the dagger in the past to craft an army, take control of the remain WW enemies and attack Babylon in the present , he was meant to destroy whoever changed his fate and take his place, and the Prince created him when he killed the Dahaka (And Kaileena in the bad ending), but the Prince does not encounter him until he returns to Babylon because the creature originated himself in the past and didn't use portals to go in the present, because he is immortal to aging like Kaileena, but can be killed. His appearence was red eyes, black hair, grey skin, gloves, an armour similar to the WW Prince with no amulet and no daggertail, he was like a mix of LP and DP and in his right cheek there was the symbol of the Island, the one from the loading screen of WW. 14)There were more animals, like tigers, bulls, lizards, scavengers, bats and arpies, the very first human/animal creatures in the series, originally created for WW but scrapped. 15) Darius from "Battles of Prince of Persia" and other new characters, like some friends and love interests of the Prince were included. 16)There were amulet and life upgrades, amulet with special doors and life by fountains. 17)There were three endings "Light Prince", "Dark Prince" and "Doppelganger" and final battle was in the Babel Tower. About how to obtain them: - For the LP, retrieve all amulet and life upgrades, transform yourself few times and stay transformed for a very few amount each time you do it and be LP in the final encounter. - For the DP, retrieve all amulet and life upgrades, stay transformed for the majority of the game, except the scripted parts and be DP in the final encounter. - For the doppelganger, don't retrieve all the amulet and life upgrades and be LP or DP in the final encounter. P.S. You can actually get a glimpse of the Doppelganger in the canon WW ending, they still used his line but for the Dark Prince in T2T
@@DesignDelve Yeah sure, all things are from a group in VK which has stored during the years a lot of info+deleted sites, forums and leaks which even I remember when I was as a kid reading them back in 2005. They also provide links to other souces. This group is actually working on a KB mod for T2T very active community. vk.com/clubkindredblades You can just translate the page in English. A lot of stuff in there. Even articles with interviews of developers who worked on Ubi games
@@DesignDelve A lot of it was seen in the official Kindred Blades Trailer, you can see even the story was different. Not to mention they changed the director of the game at the last minute so that surely had an impact on the story and material they scrapped (like gore)
I remember being bothered by the fact the Vizier's army looks nothing like it did at the beginning of Sands of Time. But apparently the game's strategy guide revealed they're actually "Scythians," a nomadic nation. The Vizier united them and conquered India. Kinda wish they mentioned this in the game itself, though! :P
But one thing I absolutely love about the two thrones is that after Farah gets kidnapped by the vizier and you’re playing as dark prince, but find his father dead, and turns back to normal, the whole tension and buildup with climbing to the top of the tower to confront him for the funds battle once and for all was so epic I thought! No sound, no talking, no dialogue, just climbing all the way to the top and I loved every minute of it. Do you agree too?
Unfortunately Kindred Blades is not alone in the video game world. So many times a game promises a lot which just doesn't happen in the final release. Obviously publishers have a big impact on this, pushing a deadline on to the devs that is just unrealistic for implementing what has been promised to the players.
It’s a shame isn’t it. The same can be seen with trailers for games and publishers pushing for greater graphical fidelity... only invites disappointment.. what a shame
it's not that fans of prince of persia warrior within will want to relaunch prince of persia kindred blades just because it was better than prince of persia the two thrones is actually because they want the sequel to their favorite game
Even when I originally played Two Thrones as a kid having never heard about the Kindred Blades stuff I felt the game was lacking, I still loved it but it felt much shorter and rushed than the other 2, mainly the prince kept making stupid decisions that seemed out of place for him to push the story forward, the Dark Prince felt underused and felt like it'd lead up to some grand battle but never did, and I had hoped the ending would make the trilogy feel more complete but it was more sudden than anything and left me wanting more.
I had some bad stuff happening lately, and i was really looking forward for this video, because Two Thrones is my favourite from the trilogy. Thanks for cheering me up, keep up the good work!
It means the world to me that my videos can bring some joy to you in hard times. I really hope whatever you’re going through gets better soon. Hopefully my videos continue to bring you happiness in the future
Oh wow! I thought I was the only one who likes Two Thrones the most in the trilogy! I love all the three games, each successive installment better than the previous one. Honestly, The Sands of Time trilogy is one of the rare instances in video games where every single game is a timeless classic!
@@sneharashmi7553 It just combines everything i loved in the first two, and gives it to me in one big package. Also, the dark prince is really fun. How could i not love this game!
@@Soskadood You articulated very well what I feel about this game. I'm just contented with what we ended up in this game in a year's time of development. It's praiseworthy what Ubisoft pulled off in Warrior Within & Two Thrones in such a short period of development. I love how the story ends. A rare instance of a game series in which every single installment is replayable and enjoyable.
All the decapitation animations are still in the game, but they are censored. These can be brought back with a mod. They probably did this because they wanted to change the tone of the game. Same goes with the upgrade animations, it must be a creative choice.
It was my favorite game when i was a kid. Loved it completly and re-played it 2 years ago to find out its much shorter than I remember. But still had a lot of fun.
Idk if you know this already. Gameloft created a Java game, Prince of Persia 3 (for Nokia S40/Sony Ericsson etc. Keypad phones phones). That game actually has a similar Dark Prince that emerges as it was in Kindred Blades. Prince goes to a fire fountain, turns into Dark Prince. Dark Prince goes to water fountain, becomes Prince. In the end, there's a fight between them. But not like Two Thrones. You've to chase Dark Prince and keep going upwards. The screen slowly scrolls upwards, so if you slow down, you die.
@@DesignDelve Forgot to mention. After the chase, unlike T2T, Dark Prince fights back. Although it might be an idea from Kindred Blades, it's no fun in the tiny game.😐 But that could've been a really great fight instead of the Vizier in the end.😈 What do you think?
I never knew this game was bad recieved, but I never heard about Kindred Blades to be honest, I just went to a store and said "Oh wow, a new PoP game!", and it became my favourite; I felt like it was the perfect balance between Sands of Time and Warrior Within. PD: 8:17 I'm sorry but WHAT???!!! That boss doesn't take more than five minutes! Why it took you so long to defeat her?? :O
The first Prince of Persia game I played, and the best one in the trilogy for me. The homecoming of the Prince, was utterly devastating, and the death of Kaileena, was very sad for me. If the Prince hadn't thrown away the Medallion of Time, he wouldn't have been corrupted by the sands in the first place, but the corruption came in as a blessing and made him stronger. I watched the concept and preview of what The Two Thrones could've been and it makes me tear up. Overall, love the game and especially the dramatic ending of a franchise, which could've still been around if not for Assassin's Creed. 10/10 would smash the new Farah again.
So basically the events of sands of time never happened and it created a new timeline that the two thrones is set in now right? Really brilliant I think.
Not only that. A lot of events from the first game happen again, but differently. Really helps with the theme of the game that consequences need to be accepted and move on.
So intriguing that they made these games one year apart and got plenty of praise also knowing that they couldn’t patch any problems after release. I’m actually a fan of moving away from the annual release (you can say the sequels could’ve benefitted from more time too) but you have to admire the quality of work of these developers.
You know I’m kind of surprised you didn’t mention anything about the ending. How it basically came full circle with going back to the beginning of the first sands of time. I mean that was honestly incredible I thought! I could only imagine when the prince gets to the warrior within story and tells Farah that he used the mask of the wraith to go back through time and change his fate and saving kaileena in the process too. The look on her face am I right? Lol
This was a lovely video. The game also had a load of buggy animations, but it's still a masterpiece in my heart. The trilogy made my childhood so much fun
The removed decapitations are just censorship in Europe, if my memory serves me right the US version of the game has them. The only version I played that had them was the one from the PS3 HD trillogy, which is censored while the enemies are humans and becomes uncensored when they are sands monsters. But I really don't recommend that version, it is a terrible port (case and point when you cut the goblins in half for example, instead of getting the two pieces falling apart, you see both of the models that were meant to have one side invisible just falling on different locations). Unfortunately the gog version of two thrones is the old european one so it's censored there as well as far as I know. Other than that good video dude.
@@DesignDelve No problem, I am a huge fan of the series and i pretty much own every version of each game just to see what minor differences they have. For example the gamecube version of SoT had weird lighting and reflections on some surfaces that no other version has, or that WW on PSP has new areas that are completely horrible. But yeah as a little tip if you liked the series enough I would recommend the gameboy game of SoT, not for a review but just as a game ,because it's very interesting to see how much cut content from the console version made it in the gameboy for some reason.
@@DesignDelve well from the mainline games I find 2008 more interesting, but forgotten sands has my favourite platforming in the series and it would probably make for an interesting video. considering it has 4 different versions, with completely unique stories and gameplay. You could make a video on them or just mention it. As for an oddity the ds game battles of pop is cool and i don't think anyone has made a video on it yet, but of course there is the old series which i am unfamiliar with, so those would make for an interesting watch Sorry if this got too long there are a lot of interesting games in the franchise
I was really sad when I saw that the last video released on this channel was 2 years ago. I am happy with myself first and foremost that I made the effort to see if you still are releasing videos, and of course that I found the appropriately named second wind channel that is still active
Hey mate great content as usual.. I personally loved Warrior within because of its challenging and versatile gameplay as well as combat. And to top it off a beautifully woven time travel story that you get to be a part of. I would love to see your comparison video once u hit 800. Looking forward to it.
I agree the story in WW was mega. I just liked how TTT story delved deeper into how the prince has changed over the trilogy. If you wanna see that comparison video share my channel any way you can to help us get there! We have two weeks 👀 glad you enjoyed the video boss!
If you think about it, cranks would make sense as this game would be happening somewhere in the 10th century, so huge cranks would help to operate big doors and stuff.
A great send off to the trilogy had me creasing hard during the crank section. Well done brother 👍 10/10 will watch again. P.s you spelt my surname wrong
actualy the reason why Gore was removed it was due to the fact that in Sequel we actualy been killing humans infused with sand who where the warriors of Kaileena while in third game we kill people infected by the sands which fused them yes they walk and act human but are like in first game made OUT OF SAND so when we kill them they slowly fall apart!
Personally warrior within was my favourite of the trilogy because I just loved how semi-open world everything felt and while I do like the linearity presented in the sands of time and two thrones, it works for the kind of story it’s telling in WW. It was never confusing for me at first the backtracking but I can understand why you think that way. I just wish the first half of the game wasn’t spent activating the towers! Lol
@@DesignDelve I love kaileena! She’s honestly my favourite character in the whole series. Shadhee has to come second cause we hardly know anything about her and I always found her so interesting too.
@@DesignDelve that is a very good question I think. For me maybe the prince’s father as he didn’t play anywhere near as much of a role in sands of time. Like when the prince rewinds time. Why didn’t he try to stop him? And I guess the old man too. Cause really he looked so much like the vizier in warrior within and almost mistook him as that character. Lol
I played this game so much as a kid, think I completed it like 15 times on hard. It got to the point where I could get through half the game without getting hit once haha. Great game, never knew they had dev hell but it makes sense. Ubisoft ruined all of my fave franchises.
“Kept you waiting ha?” But seriously this video series was awesome. James be a m8 and try to cover pop 2008 remake and 2010s forgotten sands. Keep up the good work. 🔥🔥🔥
One thing I kinda disagree with is the boss fights, I actually really liked the Bossfight. I think they were diverse enough to not feel repetitive, sure it could take a little bit longer depending on how quick you are, and I will say that the giant fight I didn’t really understand what I was doing for the time. But once I figured it out it was completely Okay.
Interesting opinion. The linearity of this game actually depresses me as I go through it. I love all three, but I will always miss the brutal, confusing, yet immense (and satisfying) world of WW.
@@DesignDelve Enjoyed it. Made sense from a story point of view. Yes, the prince was particularly moody during WW, however a humourless Prince being chased by the Dahaka fit the tone. A return to the original voice actor for T2T was refreshing and a good blend of the nonchalant easygoing character we remember from the first game, this time around with a darker edge.
I can completely see this bud, and I agree. I think the tone set in WW was warranted but maybe went a bit far with some of the edgy stuff but I think that’s because of the time it was made. I think all in all they are all fantastic games. What’s your favourite?
@@DesignDelve As a younger gamer, T2T held the top spot - but only because WW was too hard. Now, there's no contest. I love playing all three but I always get a sense of awe playing Warrior Within. Also, I enjoyed these videos!
I can feel that dude :) and I’m super glad you enjoyed the videos boss I have lots more and I’d love to hear your opinions on them too! You seem like a legend
You should make a video about the Prince of Persia 2008 reboot. It should be really interesting, because it turned out to be polarising in its reception, and it truly was ahead of its time. You even used its music at the end there.
@@DesignDelve I personally loved it, I dare say I prefer it to the original trilogy. Everything, from the gameplay, characters, story, setting, art direction, and music were tremendous. It got a lot of criticism however due to the game being too easy, because you do not technically fail at any point, basically there is no game over; which I personally did not mind, because I simply enjoyed the game and story progression. Having that in mind though, they probably should have added a difficulty level where that actually happened, I think it was an oversight from the developers. And it would have been something really easy to do, I believe you would realise what I'm talking about once you play the game.
In the gamecube version enemies split in half and stuff, I think they did not include the gore in the PC and PS2 version because of a mistake or censorship
really awesome review overall! I definitely prefer Farah in this game much more than in the sands of time, way more badass for sure. but definitely didn't like the boss fights in this game as much. warrior within definitely had the best boss fights for sure!
Completely agree with farah! Sad I didn’t have more time to talk about her redesign. The bosses were weak for sure... what did you think of them bringing back the Vizir?
@@DesignDelve I thought it was really interesting overall and makes the most sense too. Because in the sands of time he wanted immortality and in the two thrones he finally got it! But no one will ever top the dahaka! He’s the ultimate prince of Persia villain! Lol
It's a great game, however I do miss Warrior Within's direction a lot in this game. Wish Kindred Blades would have been a thing but ah well. One thing that's really bothering me about this game's story though is: 1. Replacing Kaileena with Farah immediately. Maybe it's just me but I prefer Kaileena. But even if you really want to replace them, at least make Kaileena's death more meaningful and a bit later in the game, instead of immediately getting her, a badass, captured and killed. And worse; The prince is like: "I never loved her, only you, fArAAAhhh" after her death. I really hope, if they remake the whole trilogy, this gets changed. Either by making Kaileena the primary love interest and going into the Kindred Blades direction in general or AT LEAST present this situation better. 2. Villain: Funnily enough, this storyline makes a lot of sense and definitely works fine. However, the original plan was that the antagonist was going to be the doppelganger of the prince, originating from the Island of Time, bearing its insignia and trying to destroy anyone who cheats fate. I think that would have worked way better in cohesion with the rest of the story instead of forcing in a Sands of Time - like storyline. In addition to this, there would have been 3 different endings, depending on how often you used Light or Dark Prince and collected life upgrades. However, T2T ends the trilogy perfectly, I agree, so if they decide to go with these 3 endings and the original story, they should definitely make the Light Prince ending be similar to this one and therefore the canon one, naturally. What do you think, James? I really liked your reviews and agree with a lot of points. In addition I was amused by a lot of the memes in there. Well done!
Just found your channel. Glad you made these videos. I never actually played the sands of time because it wasn't released on the psp. Did you ever release the comparison video?
@@DesignDelve It has to be The Warrior Within! The gameplay, the soundtrack, the dark theme, the matureness as compared to the first part is just great. The concept of alternate endings is something that made so many gamers continue to keep playing! The Extra swords and some people have even found some places where you can skip through the game! And I can’t express enough appreciation on how cool the SandWraith was.
I'm glad we did get kindred blades. Ubisoft open worlds are my most hated games. If they were given time, it would probably be filled with so much bloat
I would say Warrior Within is the best in the series.I find the edginess way too appealing. The same reason why I love hitman contracts. KKKKKK Oh that 2004 edginess is just unbeatable. For me it is what for many guys is the 80's aesthetic nowadays
The atmosphere and music just lacks when compared to Pop Warrior Within. I would even say that visually that game still holds quite well, especially with the hd patch.I am that guy who strongly rejects the idea of remastering that game.Still hoping for Wolfenstein the new order review though
@@DesignDelve Looking forward. I remember you asking me why I didn't like the sequels well the best way I can resume is that they feel like the submarine level from the New Order (the worst chapter).
Amazing video m8. Just finished your trilogy and subscribed. Concerning the seeming lack of gore on The Two Thrones, I believe it was an effort to tone down on the edginess came with Warrior Within.
Also, I might add on the continuity of the Two Thrones and how beautifully they did it. The Sands of Time felt like a literal fairy tale (no wonder Disney made a movie of it). The shining corridors, super cliché romance with Farah and too much parkour(he literally ascended a tower by jumping wall to wall almost 10 times). Looking back it felt like a Tarzan movie but with great puzzles and time manipulation. Warrior Within took the opposite extreme. Creepy gothic hallways, a dark mystical aura that ensued throughout the game, unrelenting gore and hard-core soundtracks. The developers did an amazing job of exhausting the use of their limited world build. It's also, to me, the hardest PoP title to complete. Most PoP fans either finished WW last while most have not succeeded in finishing it(like myself here). The Two Thrones reconciled these two extreme opposites in its preceding games. By presenting a more mature romance between the Prince and Farah (thank goodness they did away with the babysitting), depicting a destroyed but internally united Babylon, bringing hardcore cutsenes with less edgy action in gameplay, acceptable amounts of parkour tricks, and showing how the Prince's character is redeemable, the trilogy ended successfully albeit with more bugs and glitches than its predecessors.
@@DesignDelve I love it but I'm obsessed with what Kindred Blades would've been. I'll comment some info about it that has been circling since 2005. All in all I adore the trilogy and I hope the remake doesn't dissapoint
It’s really nice to see your passion for it boss I respect that :) and thanks for sharing your knowledge on the subject I hope my trilogy of videos did the series justice 👀 I hope...
Did you ever make a comparison video? If not what is your favourite of the trilogy? I don't think I could pick a favourite as they all do things better or worse than each over! If the three games merged into one it may be my favourite game of all time!
Yeah, as some people have mentioned here, all the cutting-off-limbs animations are still present in the US version of the game (though no gore for us before sand transformation of enemies). I've heard it can be triggered with some values changed in game files even for EU version, but never tried it, because US version works just fine if you want to see those decapitations (and US version for PS2 as well). But, in my opinion, T2T is the weakest part of the trilogy: levels leave impression of empty, undone areas (you just don't believe that it is really a palace or city street, but some sort of a test polygon with traps and ledges - didn't have such feeling in SOT or WW), bosses... I agree with JM8 about bosses - they are dumb and boring. The plot is also very raw (antagonist motivation, prince behaviour, etc.), it really feels that Kindred Blades had a much better story to tell when you look at all those old trailers (considering, that, as I suppose, script creation for Kindred Blades was already in progress back in the days of WW developing). I stick to the theory that SOT fans were disappointed in dark and cruel WW (as well as original POP creator Jordan Mechner), so, in great fear of losing lovely moneysss the well-known-for-being-not-greedy Ubisoft changed the development direction to more arabic tale style of the game and gave devs only HALF a year to almost completely remake the whole project - which is clearly not enough time. And they even changed Prince's voice back to SOT version as like prince suddenly became younger coming home (facepalm). Killing Kaileena, the skilful warrior, just like that... Total regress... What about all the fans of WW, Ubisoft?! There are a lot of us, I guess =) Enjoyed your videos! How about a video about Assassin's Creed I or II?
I’m late to the party, but I’m wondering what sand credits were used for in this game. I remember finding chests of them but I don’t think I ever used them on anything.
So... Prince says out loud silently if that makes sense "7 Years and you're still the same" okay this just shows and I feel like The Two Thrones would have been better if it was released in 2011. If Sands of Time was released in 2004 then 7 years would be 2011. Damn. Should have followed what Sega did with the Yakuza series releasing the games with the years going by. Like let's put it like this. Yakuza 1 it starts in 1995 and you play mostly in 2005. The game was released in 2005. Yakuza 2 it was in 2006 and it was released in 2006. Y3 you get some scenes from 2007 to 2009 and it got released in 2009 and you play it mostly on that year. You get my point. That's what kind of direction they could have went for. And plus they remaked the games more than a decade later.
This makes sense narratively and would be really really cool but doesn’t make sense financially and a company like Ubisoft would never consider a cool idea like this 😞
The order I played the trilogy in (way back in the day) was: 1 - WW, 2 - TTT, 3 - SOT. My issue with TTT is that it felt short, and the story felt subpar. I DID like edgy prince. While the characterization of the prince in SOT made sense, as he was younger and less experienced, the one from WW portrayed a hardened warrior. To see them backtrack on that characterization, back to SOT prince, except it's in TTT, just to appease fans, was disappointing to me. Furthermore, as mentioned before, the story just felt rushed. At no point did I see any connection develop between Farah and the prince; it just felt forced. Ditto for the whole emotional redemption of the prince, which felt more like moralistic lecturing. I did enjoy the last phase of the game, as it suddenly increased the difficulty and platforming complexity, which up until then I felt was sorely lacking. But I still enjoy the other two much more, and WW is the one I keep returning to the most.
Now look I understand why you think these games suffered from rush development, I really do, but back then during that ps2/Xbox era of gaming, there was definitely more love and care put into those sorts of games whereas nowadays it’s basically call of duty year after year as well as assassins creed and basically gets thrown out the window in terms of effort and is only there just to make a quick buck! You can agree with that right? If we got a new PoP game every year after 2005, like 2006, 2007, 2008 etc... that would be concerning! Lol
but each PoP game was released in 2003, 2004 and 2005 exactly why you’re campaigning against? A lot of love was poured into these games but just imagine what they would have been if they spent 2 years on them instead of one..
@@DesignDelve you’ve got a point there but I didn’t mind the turning cranks parts. The storylines of each game more than made up for those shortcomings.
@@DesignDelve way better than anything found in the assassins creed series! That series has been milked to death at this point! I even enjoyed the 2008 pop game and the forgotten sands despite their many shortcomings as well.
@@DesignDelve of course, seems only fitting to finish the prince of Persia games, Not sure if it will fit your series but it is a very unique game in its own right and back when Ubisoft had imagination….
Ubisoft seems to be bad with time constraints as you also see this more so with the Assassin’s Creed franchise especially the ones that came out on a one year gap.
4:31 - getting confused is possible, when one of your motivations for playing the game, could be needing to finish a review on youtube, rather then immersing naturally. I honestly felt sad, when the game kept showing me through dusty wall-runned walls, well lit parts of a room and blood-red flags the direction. Long live SOTN culture. May we all deserve an even more unique take on the metroidvania form. As the US gaming presidents would argue ultimately: SKILL ISSUE
looking at this game in the trailers and the interviews watching it go from POP3 to kindred blades to two thrones and from what looked like a somewhat open world game where the prince if at advantage in the rooftops and outmatched in the streets to a linear game calling back to the sands of time game was disappointing for me also hated how alot of enemies were scrapped and some parts of the story were removed or completely changed looking at the early stages of development of this game is looked way more fun and alot more greater than what we got the only thing i liked about this game was the platforming .
I've read on POP forums that the Ubisoft Montreal made the working KB prototype in 2 months only for Ubisoft Paris to say that they need to make it more like Sands of Time because it sold more than WW, so they had to start from scratch again and ducktape together a new game in 9 months. That's the reason reason why T2T is linear and unpolished. Ubisoft Paris basically ruined T2T, they could've simply given Ubisoft Montreal a thumb up to KB and Montreal would've continued working uninterrupted on KB, would've been enough time to create open world levels.
I want Kindred Blades, and I know I can get it. The levels are on a hard drive somewhere, and a good dev CAN complete an old PS2 game, we are not dealing with a billion polygons and realistic character models here. All Ubisoft needs to do is stop being a bitch, and finance an alternate 3rd chapter in the PoP trilogy. IT. WILL. SELL. Having said that, Two Thrones are a solid 7.8/10. Kindred Blades is the Holy Grail, but a second best thing is an expanded Two Thrones, with the PSP levels backported into it, and all of the game polished as much as possible (maybe some missing animation finished).
Sands of time was boring to me, bad combat and bad time rewind balancing, no replay value. Warrior within had awesome music, good story, very good combat, an edgy (the cool kind) prince. Two thrones took the bad parts of sands of time and some parts from warrior within and just watered it down to an inconsistend mesh of blandness. The second game was superior to all.
in persia/Iran babylon was never a capital the main capitals persepolis and pasargade were in the main land iran/persia bbabylon was the winter capital since the main land would be covered in snow and the administration couldn't have been stoped so they moved to Babylon for the winter as it was a lot wormer ...but that's only for first persian empire in the second one and the most badass persian empire the sassanids, the dynasty that defeated rome and caused it to fall apart and stoped its expantion in the east thanks to our long and old super unit the immortals which were covered from head to tow in armor(famouse saying that the roman legions were terrified of the persian immortals) unlike the first immortals these were trained from the age of 5 till 21 with every tactic weapon and strategies and were completely in golden armor especially their horses(for more info search persian immortals in you tube you will find a lot of cool facts) anyway this game was trying to go after the second persian empire setting but babylon was never out capital or used in that time at all...oh well fantasy right.

Some info about Kindred Blades:
1)The Prince still has his WW clothes.
About how to obtain them:
- For the LP, retrieve all amulet and life upgrades, transform yourself few times and stay transformed for a very few amount each time you do it and be LP in the final encounter.
Thank you for sharing this boss :) can you link some sources on where you got this information?
@@DesignDelve Yeah sure, all things are from a group in VK which has stored during the years a lot of info+deleted sites, forums and leaks which even I remember when I was as a kid reading them back in 2005.
They also provide links to other souces.
This group is actually working on a KB mod for T2T very active community.
vk.com/clubkindredblades
You can just translate the page in English.
I completely agree it was a great build up
Unfortunately Kindred Blades is not alone in the video game world.
Too right m8
it's not that fans of prince of persia warrior within will want to relaunch prince of persia kindred blades just because it was better than prince of persia the two thrones is actually because they want the sequel to their favorite game
I think The Two Thrones Is a worthy sequel to WW
@@gtghggff2951 the two thrones is still a good sequel, just not everything that was promised. It happens a lot with video games.
The crank part really got me. Great vid as always
Don’t get to close to me.. or you’ll catch the CRANK...

Completely agree boss I love this game as a kid but felt some aspects were lacking in replaying it. Still a classic.
I loved the prince of persia series you made, great editing, comedy and script!
Cheers bud 😁
Great content! It's sad that the Prince of Persia series always encountered such problems like misleading marketing and time constraints.
It is a shame but I know the developers did the best they could with the time they were given
But still its surprising how good all these games were!! i loved these, these are my favorite games
They are incredibly to look back upon and remember how amazing they were for the time
@@DesignDelve so will you do the combined video for all the three games of the trilogy?!?
If enough people want to see it then I will indeed :)
Do you think that may have been a retired idea from kindred blades with the ending? Pretty cool tbh
@@DesignDelve Forgot to mention. After the chase, unlike T2T, Dark Prince fights back. Although it might be an idea from Kindred Blades, it's no fun in the tiny game.😐
But that could've been a really great fight instead of the Vizier in the end.😈
What do you think?
I think both would have been cool! I love the idea of the prince fighting his darker self for control it works so well narratively
@@DesignDelve Exactly! 😃
Fighting his other self, in his own Mental Realm🔥
Absolute 🔥
I never knew this game was bad recieved, but I never heard about Kindred Blades to be honest, I just went to a store and said "Oh wow, a new PoP game!", and it became my favourite; I felt like it was the perfect balance between Sands of Time and Warrior Within.

This is the Holy Triology of Video Games for Me
Amazing games boss. Which is your favourite?
i used to have this game on pc as a kid must have played it like 20 times. seeing this gameplay rlly brings me back
Every time ppl see parkour they mention assassin creed or mirrors edge like prince of Persia doh
PoP best series for sure
Very nice and well-thought video. Specially the side-by-side comparison parts. Just love it.
Keep up the great work.
Super glad you liked it bud :)
Really interesting way to develop the narrative for the third game I agree
Not only that. A lot of events from the first game happen again, but differently. Really helps with the theme of the game that consequences need to be accepted and move on.
@@zeratai2465 yeah sounds about right.
Wonderful insight 👌
Lol
This was a really cool way to end the game I agree. Really solid way to cap off the series as a whole.
@@DesignDelve indeed!
This was a lovely video. The game also had a load of buggy animations, but it's still a masterpiece in my heart. The trilogy made my childhood so much fun
I completely agree what a masterpiece of a trilogy 😁 really glad you enjoyed the video Satan! I’d love to hear what you think of my other videos too
Another gr8 vid bro

Wonderful insight boss thank you :) gunna pin this so others can learn too
@@DesignDelve No problem, I am a huge fan of the series and i pretty much own every version of each game just to see what minor differences they have.
If you could pick any game from the series why would you most like to see an episode on?
@@DesignDelve well from the mainline games I find 2008 more interesting, but forgotten sands has my favourite platforming in the series and it would probably make for an interesting video. considering it has 4 different versions, with completely unique stories and gameplay. You could make a video on them or just mention it.
As for an oddity the ds game battles of pop is cool and i don't think anyone has made a video on it yet, but of course there is the old series which i am unfamiliar with, so those would make for an interesting watch

actualy the reason why Gore was removed it was due to the fact that in Sequel we actualy been killing humans infused with sand who where the warriors of Kaileena
while in third game we kill people infected by the sands which fused them yes they walk and act human but are like in first game made OUT OF SAND so when we kill them they slowly fall apart!

Lol
I completely agree the narrative was so creative as a whole. Wish more games were like this...
@@DesignDelve I love kaileena! She’s honestly my favourite character in the whole series. Shadhee has to come second cause we hardly know anything about her and I always found her so interesting too.
Who is your least favourite of the series and why bud?
@@DesignDelve that is a very good question I think. For me maybe the prince’s father as he didn’t play anywhere near as much of a role in sands of time. Like when the prince rewinds time. Why didn’t he try to stop him? And I guess the old man too. Cause really he looked so much like the vizier in warrior within and almost mistook him as that character. Lol
I can see that. I think I agree, I also don’t like the prince in the first game much, I much prefer him in WW and TTT
8:18 that is because they removed the freestyle combat and left only stealth kill. They changed a lot of things due to the SOT whinners

I can completely see this side of it boss 👌what did you think of the narrative changes in the two thrones?

You should make a video about the Prince of Persia 2008 reboot. It should be really interesting, because it turned out to be polarising in its reception, and it truly was ahead of its time. You even used its music at the end there.
I’ll add to my list :D what do you like or dislike about it I’d love to hear your side of things 😁
I am definitely adding it to my list after this description! Thank you boss!
In the gamecube version enemies split in half and stuff, I think they did not include the gore in the PC and PS2 version because of a mistake or censorship
I believe the top comment explains the censorship issues 🕺
really awesome review overall!
Lol

Cheers boss 😊
4:30 Oy, that's a PS4 Spider-man manoeuvre!
It's a great game, however I do miss Warrior Within's direction a lot in this game. Wish Kindred Blades would have been a thing but ah well.
One thing that's really bothering me about this game's story though is:
Well done!

I would even say that visually that game still holds quite well, especially with the hd patch.I am that guy who strongly rejects the idea of remastering that game.Still hoping for Wolfenstein the new order review though
the new order is on the list boss keep and eye out 👀 the soundtrack of WW is mega I agree
@@DesignDelve Looking forward. I remember you asking me why I didn't like the sequels well the best way I can resume is that they feel like the submarine level from the New Order (the worst chapter).
Looking forward to finally covering that game series one day so I can finally see what’s great about it
Amazing video m8.
Glad you enjoyed the series and I couldn’t agree more on the topic of tone 👌
They actually had all the gore animation in Kindred Blades
They were removed for the EU version of TTT :) what do you think of TTT in comparison to the rest of the series?

There are a lot of us, I guess =)
Enjoyed your videos! How about a video about Assassin's Creed I or II?
Not even a year whole project done only in 8 months (confirmed by developers)
Crazy right? Insanely well done for that short of a time
oh m8 what a butter knife, I like. gg good vid
Neooooommmmmm
I’m late to the party, but I’m wondering what sand credits were used for in this game. I remember finding chests of them but I don’t think I ever used them on anything.
Pls create more about Prince of Persia
Sad to see how pop lives in the shadows of assassin's creed. Imagine if ubisoft put the same effort in a remake or reboot of pop. Still hoping
Completely agree boss but we can hope! Hopefully the remake coming out in a few months does this fantastic series justice.
A great review
Really glad you enjoyed it boss thank you :) many more on the channel hope you like them too!
@@DesignDelve I’ve actually been watching the rest of the series my man!
Honestly very enjoyable videos
Became your 667th sub👍
You legend 👌 that’s for the sub boss means a lot!
Did you not played sot? That had puzzle cranks!
So. What happened to the bonus episode. m8?
What about the unofficial game 2.5, the Lost Sands?
So now you've done PoP....
You gonna do Devil May Cry 3 yet?
Next video 100%
Completely agree the stories have been top tier!
@@DesignDelve way better than anything found in the assassins creed series! That series has been milked to death at this point! I even enjoyed the 2008 pop game and the forgotten sands despite their many shortcomings as well.
A key point with CoD is that 2 studios alternate releases, so they have 2 years to make each game not 1. That helps a lot.
Just have to say.... Prince of Persia 2008...... :)
….. wanna see an episode on it?
@@DesignDelve of course, seems only fitting to finish the prince of Persia games, Not sure if it will fit your series but it is a very unique game in its own right and back when Ubisoft had imagination….
Consider it done m8
@@DesignDelve ❤ It's got a almost Journey/Gravity Rush vibe. Which are also interesting games :) ha
As the US gaming presidents would argue ultimately:
SKILL ISSUE
looking at this game in the trailers and the interviews watching it go from POP3 to kindred blades to two thrones and from what looked like a somewhat open world game where the prince if at advantage in the rooftops and outmatched in the streets to a linear game calling back to the sands of time game was disappointing for me also hated how alot of enemies were scrapped and some parts of the story were removed or completely changed looking at the early stages of development of this game is looked way more fun and alot more greater than what we got the only thing i liked about this game was the platforming .
Does anyone know what the prince’s actual name is...?
Kevin.
JM8 how do you know? Any evidence?
‘Twas a joke :) no one knows his name if I am correct. Hopefully someone in this comment section can help us!
JM8 in the movie his name is dastan but idk abt the game tho...
Might be different in the games yea.. maybe it’s hidden in game somewhere? Would be cool
Kindred Blades is the Holy Grail, but a second best thing is an expanded Two Thrones, with the PSP levels backported into it, and all of the game polished as much as possible (maybe some missing animation finished).
when you have watched Ahead of its time series and Prince of Persia 2008 isnt in it....
Would you like to see an episode on it boss?
@@DesignDelve Sure why not coz.....the stupid crank puzzles are well made in that game :))
I’m sold 👌
Second that
What is your favourite POP part ?
Good question m8. Do you mean out of the three games?
@@DesignDelve Yes , what's your favourite POP Game?
The two thrones is my favourite :) what is your favourite?
@@DesignDelve I love warrior within because Of it's eerie atmosphere.
I can agree with that Warrior Within is amazing. What’s your favourite part of WW?
I hope sands of time remake do good
Cuz I want to play the warrior within remake
Ubisoft please don't fuck this up
The version of the game on uplay has gore
Sands of time was boring to me, bad combat and bad time rewind balancing, no replay value. Warrior within had awesome music, good story, very good combat, an edgy (the cool kind) prince.
Two thrones took the bad parts of sands of time and some parts from warrior within and just watered it down to an inconsistend mesh of blandness. The second game was superior to all.
Crank that 😂
in persia/Iran babylon was never a capital the main capitals persepolis and pasargade were in the main land iran/persia bbabylon was the winter capital since the main land would be covered in snow and the administration couldn't have been stoped so they moved to Babylon for the winter as it was a lot wormer ...but that's only for first persian empire in the second one and the most badass persian empire the sassanids, the dynasty that defeated rome and caused it to fall apart and stoped its expantion in the east thanks to our long and old super unit the immortals which were covered from head to tow in armor(famouse saying that the roman legions were terrified of the persian immortals) unlike the first immortals these were trained from the age of 5 till 21 with every tactic weapon and strategies and were completely in golden armor especially their horses(for more info search persian immortals in you tube you will find a lot of cool facts) anyway this game was trying to go after the second persian empire setting but babylon was never out capital or used in that time at all...oh well fantasy right.
Knowledge. Power. Persia. Thank you boss :)
