How could you not love Onslow's response?? I looked forward to all of his responses when I watch the shows. He was awesome. He did comedy the best. Not many could ever replace him or for certain be him. The casting manager must have saw Geoffrey Hughes's talent and thought yes, you'll make a fine Onslow for the show were doing, thank you 😀😀 They picked the icing on the cake with him. He has appeared in Heartbeat the show with Nick Berry as a P.C. There sure was never a dull moment while Geoffrey was still with us. Him and Patricia are mostly what make the show besides Clive Swift, also 😀😂💜 Rest up now Geoffrey and Clive. Cancer is a horrible bi%ch of a thing to go through and lose to it 💔💔😔😔

We all like to think TV or movies or music was just better back then, but the truth is, it wasn't necessarily the case. Plenty of great stuff still being made, plenty of new stuff to challenge us a little. If you like old fashioned comedy then perhaps you won't find much of interest these days, but there's still many a great laugh yet to be had.

My sister and I discovered this show on BBC years ago. It aired on Saturday night. When it ended we would call each other laughing hysterically, and discussing the high points. Several years ago I spent almost $160.00 to buy the entire series on DVD, and you guessed it. I loaned it to a friend who never returned it. And I haven't seen that friend in years. But I have put a price on their head!
I’m an American who has watched this show since high school (I’m 29 now), anyway I recall loving this episode but couldn’t recollect much of it since it’s the last season so I’ve seen it the least. I’ve recently been watching all the way through and finally got to this episode, this didn’t disappoint lol. My favorite is that one lady in the audience who is loud throughout the episode but reaches her peak here. One of my favorite episodes
I have a little sob each time I see her. She was the spitting image of my late mum, and similar in age too. Patricia was born in 1929 and mum in 1927. Mum dressed like her, and used to wear clobby heeled shoes and hats and gloves and same flat bag to church on Sundays. Difference was mum was not a snob. Mum was a nursing sister. But boy did she look like her and even the voice was similar.
Hyacinth should have realized that she clearly lives in her own little world. Violet, the rich sister, prefers to be seen, and out with the family members Hyacinth calls lower class/poor. 🤷♀️😆 I love this show. Hello from America 🇺🇸

So, funny story. When we moved to Canada, we barely spoke any English and my parents, not understanding the subtleties of the language, thought "English shows" meant they were better for learning English from. So they made me watch a lot of English shows to learn better English. I watched a lot of this, Doctor Who, Are You Being Served, and the like but I didn't get a lot of the jokes because I was too young. So I took for granted a lot of Hyacinth's "Bucketisms" for lack of a better term, because I thought that's just how people in this country talked. Long story short, I'm pushing 40 and still called "The Bucket Guy" in my hometown because I, as a kid, used the phrase "riparian entertainment" unironically in casual speech.

HYACINTH was all wet in real life it was fitting that for putting all of those people in her orbit through such an ordeal she literally became all wet!
