I have the box set of this series and am looking at an episode a day to keep me sane in this lock down. Patricia Routledge is one of the most talented actresses alive. The rest of the cast were incredible too.
Watching these clips I was struck at how physical was her role in Keeping Up Appearances. Many stunts in addition the general level of energy and tension in Hyacinth. It reminded me of Lucille Ball in I Love Lucy; that role required a level of physicality and energy as well. She is a gem!

@@helrethlewis9469 OMG!! Thank you so much for enlightening me!! I kind of knew it was a fourth sister, but my mind wasn't registering!! Thanks and stay safe!!
Also I realized that the producers were smart about the names, as each type of flower represents the status/character of the sisters: Violet: most expensive flower of them all/ Hyacinth: also expensive/ Daisy: very common and cheap 😜 /Rose: Beautiful on the outside and somewhat cheap/common. This show is a masterpiece! ❤️
Dame Patricia Routledge, if she was given the title simply for this character alone it would be enough. However more than active in musical theatre she has appeared not only in the West End but on Broadway several times and is the recipient of a Tony Award and various British awards.

I have been watching this show for more years than I can remember and it never gets old. My sides still hurt from uncontrollable fits of laughter. Ms Rutledge is unbelievably hilarious. The entire cast is to be commended. Excellent show.
God this is hysterical, especially those little musical/dancing bursts of hers! :-D Suddenly you appreciate she was very nimble and energetic for a woman in her 60s!
Soundseeker...she was normally nimble, I would say...also, it was her character who was more or less "nutty". She wasn't too old to be nimble. I watched her sing opera, so she's the Renaissance woman/performer etc. She is an artist in the true sense of the word; some actors are classified in certain roles but she plays all wih equal justice - the performance (opera) that I saw was not a satire or anything comedic as she does in this series.
