What is so amazing about Patricia Routledge is that she was in her mid-sixties when she filmed such physical episodes. The claim is that only two scenes were stunt doubles. That’s remarkable. She is an international treasure and so is her supporting cast.
Patricia Routledge was an exceptional actress. NOBODY could do physical comedy like her. Let alone vocal or expressionist comedy. She is one of a kind!!!
I never saw any of these comedies because I've lived in Italy for 58 years but l found them on you UA-cam.So very funny, God bless all those Who aren't with us anymore.Thank you so much for sharing the good British humour 👍💯🤗😉❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
i love seeing or even hearing her in other things too, like she was in one of the scrooge movies as well as reading one of the miss marple stories and i saw her in an episode of midsomer murders. i just love to see and hear her!
Years ago she also appeared in the fairground as Mrs Watson owner of Watson's field were the fairground came. From children's school programme called look and read. Remember seeing it in school way back in the 1980s.
I just love to watch her , she is fabulous . What a Character she played and she played it so well. I wish they made good clean fun series like this these days . No murders, no swearing , just good old laughs..... MISS YOU ON OUR SCREENS “PATRICIA “ 🌹🌹🌹
yes very understated against the larger than life Patricia Routledge. Ive watched a couple of retrospective shows about KUA and i just got the feeling Clive Swift and Patricia Routledge were not that fond of each other but that may have been to do with her decision to quit the show thus ending it in the mid 90s
@@dlamiss Personally I think they must have been very fond of each other; it explains how in tune they were with each other. Every moment is pure perfection.
One of the most touching scenes I ever saw on British television was when he guest starred on Doctor Who. He played this lifelong-impoverished old man who suddenly found himself blessed with a decent nest egg to live out the remainder of his life with and the way he played that scene was just amazing. Normally, "winning big with sudden wealth" scenes are played as cheap, petty victories on screen. But Clive Swift delivered it with such earnest, heartfelt emotion, it made me weep. A true talent. RIP. :'(
This is one of my favourite comedies. Onslow was so funny. "Its a well known fact, and the fact remains, even when the fact remains, the fact remains - Oh no more crisps...PLEASE! 😂😂😂😂😂
Unfortunately, I'm known as "Hyacinth" in my family. Even though I'm twenty years younger than lovely Patricia Routledge. It's the car driving that made me this way, and it's a complete copy of the scene: "Watch out for that lorry, John". "What lorry?" "The one parked over there." "But if it is parked over there, how could it ever harm us, Amy? Honestly, you're completely mad..."
There’s a little bit of Hyacinth in all of us. I love my family dearly, but I shoo them away to avoid embarrassment or drama. Unfortunately, Hyacinth had all of the worst traits. She meant well! 😂
I just loved this show. It is not shown in the Norfolk area for several years. 8:00 pm on Saturday night was the time that I had the show on and laughed like crazy for the whole 30 minutes. Hyacinth was just crazy with what she tried to say. Daisy, Rose, Elizabeth and Emmitt were just down right funny. Even Richard was just as funny, too. But Onslow, he’s just Onslow. And I just loved him. He’d crack me up every time he is on the show. RIP Richard and Onslow.
2 small bits of trivia: A young Patricia Routledge was in the movie To Sir, With Love. Judy Cornwall also made several movies, including one where she played an ingenue, the girlfriend of Fabian, the American singer/actor.
Iruparazzo Every time I see her I picture those sweet eyes in the movie Santa Clause: The movie. She played Mrs. Clause, with Dudley Moore and John Lithgow.
Hilarious! Patricia's reaction to the flying hat at 6:32 and Judy bursting into laughter at 9:30 are the best of the best!! And yes, Elizabeth DEFINITELY says "fucked it up".
Keeping Up Appearances is notable for being the first BBC comedy to shoot their exterior scenes entirely on video (though One Foot In The Grave's were still on film).

Geoffrey and Judy have an amazing partnership. Must have drove the crew round the bend! 6:44 is one of my favourites - Geoffrey/Onslow "At a rough guess I'd say she'd been chib chab chibo bum jingd!" followed by Judy casually remarking "Oh you're useless" and her trademark infectious laugh.

The horse? And?
And to think most of these people have died in the meantime... 😢 Both Roses, Onslow, Richard, Elizabeth... RIP, you gave us so much joy! ❤
I've watched Keeping Up Appearances so many times I've practically memorized every line. It's so fun watching the screw-ups.
After many years of watching this program, finally seeing Hyacinth laugh and have fun was something my soul really needed. Richard, as well.
Just don’t see tv this funny anymore. Loved this show.
Aww I miss Liz. She was one of my favorite characters. Rest in peace, Josephine Tewson.
For a show where I'm convinced they all legitimately hate her, I love seeing them all laugh together. This show is truly fantastic. Amazingly cast.
Who could possibly hate her, as hyacinth or Patricia 😂❤
Actually they all loved each other 😊
How on earth they have managed to shoot so many episodes is beyond me. The fun the cast has, hilarious,!!!! Never goes out of date. Loving it!!!
Had you mean
I forgot how much I loved this show, I used to watch it with my grandma when I'd sleep over there. Nostalgia...
What’s it about?
It's definitely a lot better than the rubbish sitcoms today.
They are no longer funny. Only silly nonsense.
Daisy's laugh is absolutely contagious 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I agree, every time she cracks up so do I!

Watching this after all those years, I still think Patricia Routledge is a magnificent actress, and clearly a very "cool" person.
Amazing cast of characters!
They were all very good. But she carried the series for sure!
True, she makes her character quite irritating, intolerable and extremely funny. She is a great actress.
She is my favourite actress :)
Wonderful comedy series ~ right up there with "Fawlty Towers". A British classic for sure.
