      Thanks for that - I want to keep my videos focused on the actual fishing, without unnecessary b-roll and music distractions.

    Awesome again Mick the old first cast fish curse. Loved eating huss cold wind comeing straight of ocean water dirty and lots of weed no fishing this weekend forecast rain .Happy catching from AUSTRALIA Nick

      Thanks again Nick. Yes - I'm often too eager to wet a line and cast one rig out before I'm really ready. I should know better - first bite, particularly if straight away, is often from a decent fish - and I have lost quite a few by not being prepared for that! It sometimes also happens on the last (one more go) cast, when I've already packed some gear away, including my cameras!

    Another quality video, Mick. Well done on the codling. Did you stay local overnight or travel home and back the next day - that's dedication!

      Thanks Rob - I travelled from my parents' which isn't too long a journey. Yes, I was pleased to catch a codling from there - a first for me from Portsmouth.

    Another top session there Mick.Its a shame that the dog walkers don't have more consideration for anglers..

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  Рік тому

      Thanks Pat. Just have to treat the dog walkers as one more potential hazard you need to be aware of / manage.

    Hi, looks decent venue, great vid , and your maps of different areas are brilliant. Is it deep/shallow? 🤔 weedy like milford?

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  Рік тому +1

      Thanks Darren - going by the fact that the blocks are exposed at low water, I would classify it as shallow. Weedier the closer you cast to the concrete and I suppose if weed is growing there, that's what holds the fish.

    Great session.
    What makes you choose to position your rod rests that way? I'm still quite new to the sport and am having trouble finding a good resource to explain it. Cheers!

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching. It's much easier to spot tiny bites, than having your rods pointing out to sea.

    Hi, you mentioned you use braid on your fixed spools, I currently use mono, however considering switching over to braid as I've been told it helps with distance?
    Do you use braid straight through? If so what breaking strain ? Or do you use a mono leader? Again if so what breaking strain and length ? Thankyou

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283  Рік тому +1

      I normally use mono leaders - about 35lb if using 20lb braid and 50lb with 30lb braid. I avoid using thick line for leaders, since you tend to get wind knots doing that. Some use 100lb braid for leaders.
