Catch Fish from Chesil Beach - WEST BEXINGTON: SWYRE
One of a series of videos on Chesil Beach in Dorset, UK.
This video covers a daytime session in May targeting plaice at the shallower end at West Bexington, (Dorset, UK). The session (21.05.24), was fished at the White House mark, Swyre. Unfortunately plaice did not make an appearance, but a blank was avoided with the capture of a gurnard and a couple of decent smooth hounds.. Nevertheless, I cover the rigs and techniques employed in order to try and catch plaice at this location.

Catch Fish From the East Kent Coast: DEAL - CAMBRIDGE ROAD
Переглядів 2,9 тис.14 днів тому
A couple of spring daytime sessions at Cambridge Road, near the boundary between Deal and Walmer (Kent, UK). In the first session (recorded on 12.04.24), I fished the tide up to high water and a few hours of the ebb; the second (recorded on 25.05.24) was over high water and down. Both sessions had a pretty strong tidal pull and resulted in the capture of plenty of dogfish, and a welcomed plaice...

Two daytime sessions (recorded on 29.08.22 and 10.04.24) originally fishing for bass at the Lifeboat Station section, Dungeness (Kent, UK). You fished worm mostly, I believe, which is why you weren’t immediately into the Doggies, they will eat virtually anything of course, but fish baits are best for them. Mackerel will get them on the beach quickly and continuously to the exclusion of all else at times, so I just stopped fishing Mackerel hoping to not catch Doggies, Sand eels are a better fish bait, I feel, they’ll catch Smooth hounds, and Rays , with flatfish falling to worms. Frozen black lug, are a good bait too. Catching some really nice Dover Sole on the South Wales coast during the summer months and Cod during winter, all such good eating. Fresh Peelers for the Bass! The prolific Dogfish numbers are spoiling the fishing though, as fishing trips, take some planning, and they aren’t cheap either, just to catch them damned Doggies!!! Is it really worth it? Thanks for the vid, that wind noise was a nuisance.

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283 8 днів тому

      Yes - I agree about baits for dogfish: which is why I avoided using fish baits as much as possible, since I didn't want to catch them, unless there's nothing else present!

    Struck too early? No point striking at all when beach fishing. Just wind down quickly until feeling the weight of the fish. Striking, then feeling for a fish, then reeling in slowly? Thats the best way to lose fish👎

    • @rodsangleuk6283
      @rodsangleuk6283 8 днів тому

      If I'm getting loads of each in a session I'll try to; but a lot of the time there isn't sufficient action to justify filming bites and not trying to hit them - would be a lot easier if I had someone else filming!

    That's about all that is around there these day's odd ray also. Part of it is that when they dredged the sands for building the tunnel it's upset all the tidal flows so it's stripped sand etc from many places to put back on the banks so ruined feeding/Hatchling zones leaving many areas barren also get with these bottom trawling scraping everything flat.

    I'm plan to chuck a lure out near the structural areas to see if any bass are there, obviously I'll have to wait till high tide because it's quite shallow along the edge of the river, I live more near Rainham, gonna try at purfleet because the waters seems deeper there & there's that outlet next to the visitors center where there is water even at low tide, I might even chuck a crab net in that area to see if I get anything worth eating.
