I just googled this, and the fact that I see them talking about “telegraphing your approach” being bad, aka being too obvious/giving yourself away with lights or shadows, is hilarious because we talk about that in Smash all the time and is totally applicable to Splatoon
I like saying that turf war is ALWAYS something you're playing in every mode, letting you keep control of an area and move freely. it's the first thing you learn bc its the most important.
Me: *paints routes close to me* That ninja squid carbon roller utilizing my ping to get to that 1 smallest patch of ink I didn't yet get to: *hello there*
Don't listen to him! Take sharp corners, run past enemy ink and stand near ledges! No, I'm totally not an octobrush main bringing you this information. /j
as a guy who definitely does not play splat roller/luna blaster, big agree on this! all ledges are safe and you should always stand right on the edge of them :)
As a charger main, I must add that it's incredibly hard to snipe someone who's standing still in the middle of an open field, so know that that's our weak spot.
Its always funny when i'm painting some somewhat irrelevant ground for special charge / general map control when i hear that I hit a player, and then watch as they try to run away in a panic.
Also, this can also be said if you have one of those sharking weapons on your team... Please cover ground! I've played so many games where almost the entire map is the enemy's colour except for a single line the Splattershot made to the objective. We sharkers can't do anything to help like that, and we can't paint it ourselves. We're unfortunately very reliant on our teammates lol
@@onetruehavoc What are jokes? What is sarcasm? These concepts are foreign to the modern American who needs a deliberate accent or the "/s" to know sarcasm was sarcasm.
2:23 Yeah, me with my sploosh am the type of player who runs away around the corner. HOWEVER, I prepare a charged curling bomb there and then run away; so many people rush me and then they get the curling bomb in front of their face; curling bomb are more quiet than other sub weapons and so people tends to not react as fast. However, if someone like gem were to pursue me, that person would aproach the corner from a wider angle and noticed my very poor attempt at ambushing in an obvious position and so exposed with a curling bomb on my hand, and then that person could really easily say while laughting internally "you are a failure for the squid school class" lol XD.
What I try to do is throwing a curling on top of the obstacle I'm using as cover, so it falls just behind that person; and even if they survive they'd be so close to me that I can finish them off with sploosh (the thing is that I often fail at trying to throw the curlings upwards)
This is so true. The amount of times I see random teammates run out into enemy territory without painting and getting destroyed by rollers is ridiculous. Especially if the opposition team is in our base. You think it would be common sense to check your surroundings, but no they just run to the objective and get obliterated!
those players are my food, and when they respawn, they *still* jump down without checking and i dent their head again. they're the type that gets spawn camped by a solo dynamo alone in their base regardless of their weapon
While this is good all-purpose advice, especially for...actually viable weapons that are seeing common use, not every weapon CAN paint defensively. The only Tenta Brella in the game right now is saddled with both No Bomb AND a special that doesn't paint or make it easier to push forward solo. That makes the Tent's slow, narrow fire stream and canopy that automatically pushes forward even worse for baiting, finding, or defending against sharking weapons than it would be otherwise.
I love how past human techniques will almost always be viable in action games since almost every game is about advantage disadvantage. Swaying the tides to constantly have an upper hand is allot easier with a team but if you can do it on your own in accordance with randoms is truly special (imo). It also makes every action game have different
No. Because sharking is sharking, theres no advanced sharking strats, you cant hide better than you already are able to. Good players just wont fall for sharking strats often at all. Theres no answer a shark has to "they painted the ground in front of me now I cant reach them" Just learn to not shark as the go to strat now because it cant carry you later.
I find sharking is only really useful at lower ranks when your team is actually *winning* as it’s best to help your team get a good lead and then take advantage of the stress of the other team as they might be trying to get the objective to catch them off-guard when they are respawning. sharking is not a viable option when you are losing though and it’s wayyy better to help your team than go for kills

Sometimes winning with Luna is just a case of which team has more paint in their comp

Corners and ledges are scary sometimes. That's why I throw bombs preemptively before approaching such places.
