  • In this video I show you how to make a Queen Sized Bed Frame with wooden legs. This is a very sturdy frame made from normal lumber. If you are going to be using a foam style mattress without box springs then you can follow along with the cuts that are made in the video with 15 slats. If you are going to use a boxspring then you only need 6 to 7 slats to hold up the boxsprings. I built this bed for $150 but prices may vary depending on where you live. Shopping Big box stores are good if you need them to make the cuts for a small cost.
    You will need a few materials to complete this project:
    7 = 2x6x8 boards
    4 to 8 = 2x4x10 boards (depends on slats)
    2 = 2x4x8 boards
    2" screws
    3" screws
    Final cuts:
    Legs 18@12"
    Sides- 2@80.5"
    Head/foot- 2@63.5"
    Base-3@83.5"
    Slats-7 to 15@59.25"

    Thank you very much! This was a great video! I followed it and just built my mom a new frame using wood I found around the cottage. I made some wonky cuts, I am sure. Also possible some of my wood is warped. It's incredibly sturdy. She wanted the side panel half the size for ease of rolling in and out of bed. It was my first proper carpentry project. I rented a circular saw and went for it. Super easy video to follow!! Nice!!!!!

    Good job, I've built two of these very similar in the last two years. One thing I did differently was to make it easier (lighter) to move at some time, was don't screw the slats down. Instead I screwed 2" block spacers on the bottom support rail, then the slats fit in between without sliding around. Then you can easily lighten the frames for moving. I made them for my daughter and granddaughter who plan on moving sometime in the future.

    Thank you again for this build using the metal pipes legs. I made it for my son whose heavier than me and he loves it. Still holding up and going strong. I’ll built 3 so far. 1 King and 2 Queen size beds. Thanks again.

    Great video. Easy to follow instructions.
    I built this yesterday. Even with the ridiculous wood prices only cost about 150.00 Cdn. It took me a couple of hours. Its solid as a rock. I added felt pads to the bottom of the legs because I have hard wood in my room. Makes it super easy to move around.

    Great video! I'm in the process of buying a house and was hoping to upgrade my bed as cheaply as possible. Your instructions are very clear and concise, and it gives me a lot more confidence that I can actually build this on my own (unlike some of the other videos I've watched on the same subject). Thanks so much!

      This is a very sturdy bed frame. And you can build it in an afternoon. All it really needs is a drill and a saw. And you can actually have the home store make the cuts for you

    I just bought 'my dear saw' haha, I been planning one of these for years, I think I'm going to do it ! I have a LED tape light, and motion detector, so when getting out of bed. My feet touch the floor, the lights come on! Saving power from turning larger lights on in mid night, after you turn one on, you have to turn more on to see!

    12" strips of plywood will work, as long as they are screwed on the ends, with a 4" gap, 1x4's will work also, if screwed on the ends, using 3/4" pipe for legs, with a cap, and bulk head flange, would be nice also, the pipe cap can be drilled and tapped for screw in rubber feet, for hard flooring,

    Great video man ... When it’s time for me to add a new bed, I’m building one! Ha I just imagine what something similar would cost retail vs building it. Straight forward project .. the pilot holes are a good idea. Did you put one coat of stain or two?

    Why not buy a 4x4x12 or 2 4x4x6 boards to use as legs(requiring a lot less work and fewer pieces to cut+screw)?

      In my area there are no untreated 4x4s. Some places sell them. Here i had to use 2x4 material and sandwich together to get 4x4 not treated.

    Hey Seth!
    Hopefully you or someone with better knowledge than I can respond from this.
    For someone that does not have FLOWING water has anyone considered using a water siphon hydro generator to generate power and then use as many ram pumps as needed to replace the water back up to the source?? is this possible??

    • @LandtoHouse
      @LandtoHouse  3 роки тому

      The power calculation is:
      (Head pressure x gpm) / 10=watts
      You would have to pull a lot of water or drop a very high height. The ram pump is going to consume a lot of the water still and not to pump as much back to the top. In the end most of the water would end up at the bottom of the system

    • @Dannylewis27
      @Dannylewis27 3 роки тому

      @@LandtoHouse Thanks for replying! I can help but think there's got to be some ingenius way of reusing the same water in some sort of collection cycle.

      A year-old post, but I’m answering for future readers
      “Is this possible”
      Water downhill, then water uphill.
      Unless you provide external power,
      No.
      You are describing a ‘perpetual-motion machine’

    Hey I know you don't make ram pump videos anymore but I got an idea, what if instead of high pressure in the drive pipe you would use low pressure at the waste valve (with a pipe going further downstream) . Could you gain 1 of the 7m (rule of thumb) ? but fantastic bed ;-)

    • @LandtoHouse
      @LandtoHouse  3 роки тому

      Do you mean feed a second pump from the waste of the first?

    • @LandtoHouse

      That should be just fine. Those can be more expensive than 2 by 4. That's the primary reason I went with 2 by 4

      @nikirkfarquharson8469 3 роки тому

    Nice video! My Tuft & Needle Mint queen size mattress is 12” tall. The site states; The space between individual slats should be fewer than 5” for the right support. I feel using 1x4 would handle the weight. I’ve seen some slats with strips of material at both ends and the middle stapled to them at the desired spacing. They are rolled out ready to go.
