In manufacturing/assembly, it is astronomically difficult to get product out that is near 99% right first time at this sort of speed in any case. My 2019 Mazda3 is 2.5 years old and not one thing is out of place, everything is solid just as it left the factory. When you consider the number of elements there are to developing a car (R&D, design, engine development, trials, on-the-road testing, software/technology incorporation, component layout, structural design, interior design and fittings, press tools, external suppliers, servicing and wear and tear considerations, and most importantly "can it be made?..." The list goes on,) it's astonishing how easily we take it for granted. I fully respect the people who all played a part in developing the 3 (and any other Mazda) and the operators/technicians that put them together daily with great consistency, as they couldn't have made it any better.
Matt Kasicki Japanese cars don’t have $10,000 plus engine repairs in less than 100,000 miles like German counter parts. Yes the interiors on the German vehicles are much better but mechanically Japanese are better.
Matt Kasicki GERMEN by far create the most unreliable endless money pit cars ever, they are purposefully made so that you spend extra money on repairing it
Great respect to all Japanese workers, they make their job very carefully and accurately. I love Japan and cars made in Japan. "Made in Japan" - it's a synonym of quality! Peace to all of us!)))
I have a 2014 Mazda6 purchased in February 2013. Can’t tell you how happy I am about it’s looks, driving dynamics, reliability and comfort. It’s been 7 and half years did not have one single problem.
Henry Ford would have a heart attack if he saw how far his plans for assembly line manufacturing has come. I’m almost done the show and I’ve seen less than twenty live people on the screen so far. Japan is amazing when it comes to putting together cars
Mazda Soul Red color is the most beautiful red color compared with other red color cars. One day I was waiting to change a traffic light, one big Cadillac stopped next to my car. He gave me a nice compliment about my Mazda3 Soul Red color.
I have a 2018 Mazda6 with 60,000 miles. Perfect... It is a pleasure to drive. I'm glad to see more Mazdas on the road and that more drivers have discovered Mazda.
You get what you pay for and then some with Mazda. Their interiors look so nice for the price. They could use a little ambient lighting in the doors and on the dash, something subtle like what Volvo has done with their cars. Nothing like a night club like some other companies have inside. More ambient lighting would really compliment Mazda interiors nicely!
I don't agree with ambient light. It's distracting and is raising fatigue and makes it more difficult during night drive. I would rather like a "dark cockpit" function, like Saab was making it back then.
the fact that my 2017 3 HB was 99 percent made in japan helped clench my decision to purchase the car. I absolutely love how much inspection occurs all down the line. And how much double checking the robots do of their position before they do their welding or putting body panels on. Thanks for the upload edit: Apparently my 3 HB was lovingly caressed by many japanese men.
I think Mazda3s are made in Hofu plant in Yamaguchi Prefecture. Hiroshima plant produces CX-3, CX-5, CX-8, CX-9, Miata, and Bongo truck. Hofu plant produces 2, 3, 6, and CX-30. Edit: I forgot that Hiroshima plant also produces Abarth 124 Spider. Hofu plant might producing CX-5s.
The 2014+ HB is unusual in that it's beautiful in every single color it's offered in. There is literally no bad color on that car. The 2019+ HB is odd in that it doesn't look great in pictures but is drop-dead gorgeous in person. Stand directly behind it and step back 8 to 10 feet for my favorite view of the vehicle.
22:50 there are lots of great things I can say about my MX5 but the one that always surprises me is that it has the best headlights of any car I've ever driven, including other Mazdas. I don't know what is so different about them but they are truly amazing
Forget Tokyo, Hiroshima is a beautiful city to visit. It’s got everything a big city in Japan has to offer with less crowd. The peace park with the A bomb Dome is something people have to visit once in there life.
Cool to see. I work in a Honda plant. Even though the processes are slightly varied, I know what's happening every step of the way. (Love my Mazda car btw 😄)
I worked in Marysville decades ago, left in 1998. But I took the Mazda factory tour in 2015 when I was on a trip to Hiroshima. The biggest difference I noticed was the flexible manufacturing at Mazda. At Honda, they build basically the same model in a plant, in lots of 60 - for example, 60 Accord EX sedans in the same color, same feature packages, all in a row. (I assume it’s pretty much the same today.) They added some model flexibility when they started building Acura models. At Mazda, I saw an MX-5, then a CX-9, then another model, one after the other. Seems less efficient on paper but then they don’t need the excess manufacturing capacity to build 3 models. Look at 22:22 and you’ll see what I mean. Different models and colors, one by one. You’ll never see Honda do that. P..S - I bought a used Accord EX V6 on my last day of work at Honda. It was a manager vehicle, with 60k, and was better than my other car was even when new. And almost 25 years later, I still miss being at Honda. Working there was the fulfillment of a dream to work at a Japanese transplant. While I went on to make more money elsewhere in automotive, part of me regrets leaving there.
In 2004 I bought my first Japanese car ever. A Mazda 3 hatchback while I was living in Hawaii. Fast Forward to today with 104k miles I still have it, best car I have ever owned. Other than routine maintenance and a cracked gas pump retaining ring, no issues at all. Never failed to start, aircon is still working fine. And yes, it still has "Zoom Zoom."
@@hervedupont6955 All true Zoom Zooming in Southern California. Zoom Zoomed on a trip to Vancouver, British Colombia to include Oregon and Washington. And Zoom Zoomed on a few trips to Las Vegas. Still the very best car I have ever owned. I've been considering getting a new Mazda CX 3 or 5. Would like a hybrid with better gas mileage. Unfortunately new car prices and dealer markups are making me rethink this. I could have my Mazda repainted the same color, new shocks and struts, 114k miles, and be tens of thousands of dollars ahead. Savings would buy a lot of gas.

True! My 2020 Honda Civic was built in Canada, and 6,700 miles later, it is a freaking rattle box and the seats already squeak like an old car with ten times the mileage. I have even been in a 2019 Kia Forte with 12,300 miles and not a single rattle and the seats do not make any sound. A shame since the Honda's I have been around in the past had near perfect fit and finish, even the freaking 8th gens Civics aside from the paint quality of course. Mazda on the other hand seemed to have improved even faster than Hyundai since they have been separate from Ford since 2013.
The build quality of my 2020 cx-5 is excellent, now I see why. A friend had suggested I look at one, it wasn't originally on my list, very happy I did.
I had a 2010 Mazda 3, then I strayed to a Nissan Rogue and a VW GTI. Went back to a CX-5 and now finally the new 2021 Mazda 3 2.5 Turbo. It is a piece of beauty and power.
It's simple to see why. Japanese workers are disciplined and are there because of merit and are skilled. US workers are protected by unions, does the absolute minimum while expecting maximum pay, and demands they get "opportunities" handed to them despite being woefully unqualified for promotions. Unions are the scourge of productivity.
I have a 2017 CX5 (Red Soul) and a 2018 CX3 (Metallic Ceramic) both loaded GX's HUD equipped. Nice Economical and great handling. love the sport mode and the paddle shifting on my CX3 in manual mode.
I'm a big fan of Japanese cars. They are excellently built. My Toyota Yaris was solid for many years, my rental was a Mazda CX-5 and I immediately fell in love with the interior design, the calm power and the well-thought-through dashboard. There is a lot of emotion going on when you drive a car like that. Now I drive a Honda Jazz/Fit and that one is fantastic too. REI!

To rust you have to live near the cost. The salted air is very corrosive. I believe all Mazda's sheetmetal is galvanized. Normally you have a warranty for that.

Kind of great since this point in my life is when ya buy the expensive crap. Added a 2018 CX-5 GT to the mix a week ago. I love it.
Not limited to Mazda, the Japanese manufacturing industry is a manufacturer in Japan that covers almost all industrial equipment. For example, SMC / CKD / FANUC / DMG-MORI / YASKAWA / THK, etc.
Is the process really this quiet? Many times the microphone seems much further away than the camera shot. I love Mazdas and would like to believe they have library-like factories, but I think it's probably louder than this up close.

I agree 1000%. I’ve been saying this about my Mazda CX-5 that I leased in July. It would be so exciting

the fact that my 2017 3 HB was 99 percent made in japan helped clench my decision to purchase the car.
I absolutely love how much inspection occurs all down the line. And how much double checking the robots do of their position before they do their welding or putting body panels on.
Thanks for the upload
edit: Apparently my 3 HB was lovingly caressed by many japanese men.
Me too, Hiroshima😁

Lincoln headlights are good too. They follow your steering wheel
Forget Tokyo, Hiroshima is a beautiful city to visit. It’s got everything a big city in Japan has to offer with less crowd. The peace park with the A bomb Dome is something people have to visit once in there life.
Jason I lived there and found it quite depressing. To each their own though
I just closed a deal for a 2021 CX-5 and I pick it up in a couple days. So excited!
