    Especially if you've never built a computer before, the Boson is a great place to start. Doesn't get much easier (or cheaper) than this!

    Every time someones says "Building a PC is too difficult", I always shed a tear. If you can follow directions on a lego set, you can build a PC.

      Not necessarily... building a PC is much more complex..

    • @DamnitRoman

      ***** Legos don't have hardware failure, BIOS updates, etc... stuff varies from motherboard to motherboard. They're not all the same. Legos clip in together. Nothing difficult about that.

      Kroeckinator No. How is that a defective problem that happens to do with the Legos at all? That's retarded. Why would you even say that?

    Guys, this is a great build. I dont know why everyone is saying things about UA-cam not being a reliable source for PC builds. Austin has over 700,000 subscribers,and is very technologically intelligent. He is an extremely reliable source with tons of knowledge. Besides, he showed us the computer working. He has another video video on his channel showing what it can do, and its pretty impressive...... for $300!!!!!!! Obviously this is not the best, fastest, most powerful gaming computer out there, but it's certainly one of the cheapest!! It's not supposed to be an outstanding performance PC, but it gets the job done with ease. It can handle just about any game out there at over 30 Frames Per Second, in 1080p to 720p. And for heavens sake, it's a beginners build. It's supposed to be a super simple build for beginning PC builders. Obviously not the best specs, but for the price and simplicity, it's about as good as you can get.

    • @DamnitRoman
      @DamnitRoman 9 років тому +2

      This is NOT a good build. Austin knows a lot about technology in general but his budget builds are trash. You could do MUCH better for the same price. You are speaking like you actually know about computers, when you don't.
      This is tons better: pcpartpicker.com/p/NXKcVn

    • @muurf383
      @muurf383 9 років тому +1

      ***** Actually, even though that is a good computer, I still think the Boson is better. There are a couple reasons:
      1. The Boson is actually slightly cheaper if you buy the parts for it on Amazon.com
      2. Even though the processor has a slower clock speed than the processor from the link, it is quad-core, unlike the one from the link which is dual-core
      3. The Boson is still a better BEGINNER build, as it is easier to put together
      4. The hard drive from the link is only 500GB, but the one in the Boson is 1TB, (1,000)
      Don't get me wrong, the build from the link is still a great build. All-in-all, however the Boson is just as good (if not better), it is easier to build, and it totals out to a cheaper price than the build from the link.

    • @DamnitRoman
      @DamnitRoman 9 років тому

      muurf Your logic makes no sense. Because it's cheaper, it's better? So I guess the GT 610 is better than a GTX 970 too? Is the i3-2100 better than the i7-5960X too? It's cheaper.
      The amount of cores a processor has relates to it's performance in absolutely no way. The G3258 outperforms the 860K in gaming.
      How is the Boson easier to put together? hint: it's not. What's different?..
      A 1TB hard drive is inefficient because the capacity is so large. You must not know that smaller drives perform much more efficiently, and this is why people partition or buy smaller drives and use them in RAID.
      The build I made is absolutely better, it's not a contest..

    • @muurf383
      @muurf383 9 років тому

      ***** Ur right. After I left my reply, I went back and looked at your build. I dont know what I was thinking! I guess when I said the Boson was easier to put together, I just meant that it came with a power supply already installed. Now looking back, I realize that that really wouldn't make much of a difference. I didn't mean to say that if its cheaper it's better. I just meant that if you are just starting to get into pc builds, you should try to spend as little as possible on your first build. Looking back, I realize that the intel processor in your build would out-perform the AMD processor in the Boson, even with only two cores. It would probably also be better for overclocking. As for the hard-drive, I guess it depends on what you are going to be doing on your PC and the amount of storage a person needs can vary greatly. Also, looking back on your build, I realize that the graphics card is much better in your build than in the Boson. I am literally laughing out loud right now over how stupid and completely insensible my earlier reply was. Your build was MUCH better. No question about it.

    Disclaimer: have a high-end PC, not a console gamer as much anymore.
    You know, I love PC and PC building, but I hate low-cost PC desktop builds. First of all, they're shit. They're just lame PCs. They can BARELY game and you'd be better off getting a console at this price point. PLUS, they almost NEVER factor in the cost of Windows ($100), A keyboard and mouse (decent combo for $30) and a monitor (decent 24" for $140). Plus any other extras you may want such as a headset or speakers.
    So congrats, you've dropped $570 plus tax and shipping on a PC you'll never be happy with.

    My build was around $230 and outperforms this (given, most items were on sale at the time)
    Some low-end Logysis case with a 480w power supply included
    Some low-end AsRock MoBo with 2 ram slots, and socket FM2+
    AMD A-10 7700k 3.8Ghz quad-core processor
    integrated graphics, six-core
    8 GB of 1600 RAM
    Some low-end network card because the RJ-45 on the MoBo shorted out
    Overall, a very low-end build, but cost effective. I can play BF4 on medium settings at around 40-50 fps with no overclocking

    I am happy to say that I am typing this comment on the Boson. First off I have to say that there are a few things that you have to buy that are not in the video. You have to buy a cd/dvd player/burner for it and you have to buy a wifi adapter. Overall it is a pretty good PC. It is easy to put together and it runs games very well. It can run some games at high settings at about 30 to 60 fps depending how good the game looks and how much of your graphics card/cpu/memory it takes up. It is overall a really great computer for the money.

    This is to all the people saying "omg this is not a gaming pc lel"
    Yes, this is not your casual dual i7 GTX Titan X setup, but at the budget this pc could run titles like Minecraft, League of Legends, CS:GO, World of Warcraft and other many not as demanding games. If you commented saying "I'll get an Xbox 360 instead" you are wasting your money. You will spend a shit ton of money on all the memberships that let you play online, and also a shit ton of money on the games however on the PC, you can get pretty much any game for free *cough* torrents* cough*. Think before you comment, this is a budget build so don't expect major performance out of it.

      I'm only 12 but I think you should change the CPU. It has 6 cores, yes, but the cores are very weak since there are 6 of them. If you have the extra money, go with the AMD FX- 8320 or AMD-FX 8350. It costs $30 more but has 8 cores and the cores are just a tiny bit stronger. But if you want to go with Intel instead, go with an i3 6100. But If you can't spend anymore money, then it will do perfectly fine. :)

    This is an excellent start, but terrible choice for motherboard and CPU. The main reason behind this is that you CANNOT UPGRADE WITH THE AM1 SOCKET TYPE. The Athlon APU is the best CPU that fits in there, and it will be obsolete in no time. If you go with a budget build, you will want something with a socket type that will not be outdated so you can upgrade the CPU as time goes on. If you're going APUs, I'd recommend getting an FM2+ motherboard. You'll pay a little more for the APU series, but get MUCH better performance (talking about an extra 15-20 frames average in this case).
    Or you can just go Intel.

    Just built a system with the 5350, you installed the heatsink wrong and it can cause overheating. If you're building this system, you can follow Austin's guide, but please refer to the manual for installing the heatsink correctly to prevent overheating.
    As a summary, you put the 2 larger black knobs into the metal holes in the heatsink (Requires a lot of force, you should feel the spring resistance if done correctly). Then, place the heatsink on and push one knob so you see the full tab under the motherboard. Now, place the pin from the TOP of the knob so the tab locks under the motherboard. Rinse and repeat.

      Also, the 8570D is hardly 'decent.' It gets 36fps on Bioshock, medium at 768p. It gets 29fps on Tomb Raider, medium at 720p. Also, it gets 11fps on Metro Last Light on high.

Of course pc gaming will almost always cost more, but builds like this showcase that with the right research and part selection you can build a very good gaming pc for not much more than what a console would run you.

      Austin Evans I'm sorry but Austin these builds aren't really all that good mostly because they just plain don't come with much upgrade ability and are generally pretty week in hardware I mean I understand 300$ isn't much to work with but check out ***** his 300$ is already more upgradeble and more powerful than yours

      Dont Get me wrong, Im a PC guy, but im a high end elitest that takes pride in expensive builds. This low budget stuff makes me wanna barf. If I HAD to choose I would rather get a PS4 than a $300 PC as in games at least, it will perform better. Im not gonna choose either of those though, cuz im spending 2.5k on a pc so huehuehue.

    Really good vid! I like how it is edited. First build was upgrading a 286 to play doom. I intended to put a 386 but found that cyrix had a dx2 50 and mb that was cheaper then an intel 386 w/mb. Later i saved up enough for the 8 chips for 256k of cache! Now I am thinking of building one for my daughter, your vids have been most helpfull, thanks.

      Depends. Are you going to play on ultra? If you are, you'd get like 7-10 fps, but on low you could scrap up to maybe 35-40 fps

    • @Killershark217
      @Killershark217 10 років тому +1

      this should be enough for 720p u would get most games on med/high

      @geoffreyayers1022 10 років тому

      260x can pull 40 FPS at ultra@1080p for Battlefield 3.
      I couldn't find any benchmarks for BF4, so at 720p you could probably get 50-60 FPS on medium settings with a 260x.
