Austin. I literally cried when I saw that PC. I had the 2000 year model and it was my first PC. I took it apart a thousand times and its where I found my love of technology. This hit me hard !
I used to have the same thing as well
this pc was sold in grey color by HCL in india along with all the high end goodies, joystick and altec lansing speakers and was a expensive set.
What a noob. Stop crying at some low tech junk. Nowdays even homeless people have an rtx. Get a grip and stop being dramatic.
It’s fun to see these “reviews” done in an entertaining way instead of feeling pointless being hard to get. Sweet build guys.
Austin's second home (Microcenter) is back once again.
24 hours in MICROCENTER challenge!
Lol please do it Austin. And take Ken with you
I like your profile picture

Ah old pal micro center old pal even though what the industry has been through / 30 series card
that is the problem with some sleeper builds
Microcenter is like Austin’s sugar daddy w/ the amount of free stuff they have given him
XD
XDD DADDY
Daddy so rich
No lies here
I need to get in that loop.
“There’s a shortage of pc parts”
Techtubers: “we’ve got this new part that it’s impossible to find at retail price”
Exactly, this is fucking infuriating.
right? "there's a shortage"
Techtubers: We've got 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and were going to destroy 2.
ok, now you know why there are shortages.
I have a rtx 3080

I bought a new old stock case from the late 90s and it's unironically been my favorite case ever to build in. It has surprisingly good airflow for the era, my only gripe is that I had to spray paint my blue ray drive beige to match.
You know how in Pyongyang they have one store with packed shelves and happy smiling customers, and that's the ONE STORE the foreign press are allowed to see? I get the same vibes from that Micro Centre.
Nah my microcenter is the same, it's a great place.

I actually just did something similar. I have a Ryzen 3600 on an MSI B550M mobo using my PSU as exhaust too all in an old Dell Dimension 4600 case. I was able to remove the front hard drive caddy and put a 120mm AIO as intake and CPU cooling. For extra cooling, what I did is use a rotary tool to cut two large holes in the bottom and have two 120 mm intake fans. You'll lose the bottom PCIe slot, but it works. Now I'm just waiting to get a EVGA 3060ti XC since it's one of the only ones that'll fit in my build.
Let's gooo another sleeper PC build. This was an amazing journey

I used to have a Compaq PC back then and this is some of the best sleeper PC I have seen.
*“Don’t try this at home”*
Imma try it at home
Me: Imma go buy a gaming pc. Wait I am broke.
Am gonna try it someone's mom's house
I'd like to see this pc be expanded a bit. Drill (hidden) holes for airflow, smaller cpu fan, actual standoffs, Etc.
I love Austin. I’ve seen him grow so much since his house burned down!
That's a real good point of reference....
SideHustle Tech Yeah, the "It's All Gone" video and it always show up on our recommendation feed. I'm glad Austin is safe and work harder btw.
Imagine if he gave up after his house burned.
thanks for reminding me
How did his house burn down, was it pc related?
I've built multiple PCs for my friends and myself using old cases like that. Dell Optiplexes are my favorite.
Man that brought some memories back, parents bought us that computer when we was kids
My cousin played WoW for years on one of these... to the point that it caught on fire! He never cleaned it of course and then gave it to me after it was literally fried... I gutted it and still have the case. I put my old Phenom 2 parts from my 2011 build into it with x2 R7 370s in crossfire mode into it for fun lol
The editors had a lot of fun with the music, love it
He was the editor lololol
i suggest to cut holes in the bottom and install about two flat 120 mm fans there, blowing air in.
i then would put clear sticky tape on the slots in the side wall, to force the air to go around the GC, and out the back.
then i would enlarge the opening for the power supply to be at least as large as the power supply.
"Which I can assure you, it is not on fire, YET" LMAO
i found this right as i heard it

Cut a whole in the bottom of the case near the front and add an intake fan, there appears to be enough clearance under the case to allow air flow.
Oh my god that CPU brings back great memories. Thank you Austin for making this video. I don’t care what anyone else says it’s so beautiful Austin.
It must be really nice to live close to a Micro Center...
Please Micro Center, build more stores!!!!
I was wondering what does Austin do with his PC's after he has built them and doesn't need the PC.
Probably take em apart and use the parts for other videos
Your probably right. Most tech tubers do that
@@nabiullahf or sell them. There was a video on Austin saying “how we ship out our PCs”

Might as well move in. But the old builds like this are amazing. I literally have that Compaq in my garage wow.

Austin In Micro Center is Like a Kid in a Candy Shop.
I love 90's computer
I've been wondering what happens to all of these PC's that Austin makes, do they take them apart and repurpose the part or just keep them for their own use?
Repurpose
My first retro games PC was one of those old Compaq rigs. Pretty good little machine for what it was. Had an old AMD Duron 600, and 512mb of RAM.

You can drill some fan holes and place some grills for better airflow.
Austin should make one of those tik toks in which he's like "when you're bored but remember that you live in a microcentre"
I would love to see someone build a gaming PC using an old Power Mac case, the OG cheese grater Mac!
Power Supply: A final touch would have been to swap the insides of the power supplies. That would have camouflaged it a little more.
I had one of these Compaqs growing up. It may still be in an old closet at my Mom's.
Now this is what I like to call pog, am I right Austin?

hey guys, this is Austin and this is how micro center feeds my family this month!
Why are they even giving “reviewers” any cards at this point? That supply is more than entire continents are getting.
they usually send pre production units to reviewers (if the stuff comes from the manufacturer and not from microcenter or similar)
@@phoenix0828 it’s still silicon that meets spec and could go to an actual consumer. I’ve been in the EVGA queue for a 3080 for 194 days.
because of marketing purposes, there you go
OK, Austin;
I'm old, OK?
So I know a thing or 2, since I'm old.
That Compaq case has an air flow INLET in the front!
If you look at the BOTTOM you should see there is a plastic part that holds up the case front.
From the rear, you can see the slots in it for the air inlet.
The slots feed into the front cover at the bottom so the air enters the case UNDER the floor moving forward.
Then it turns upward going behind the front cover, & then it turns toward the rear of the case.
If you look inside at the front of the case, below the drive cage, you can see the air inlet holes in the metal.
So the air comes from under the case, in the bottom of the front cover, thru the lower front of the case.
The internals move the air around, thru the GPU, thru the CPU cooler, then into the PSU then out the back.
The rear case exhaust fan is also exhausting, that creates a slight negative pressure which also pulls air in.
BTW, back in the day, the inlet slots could get enough dust in them to reduce air flow & cause overheating.
But tech 'tubers usually don't run their projects full-time so that's unlikely.
But if you start mining that rig be sure it gets enough air. Just sayin'.
I like watching sleeper PC build videos. We need more like this. I myself have an old white ATX case from year 2000. I installed an 80mm aluminium Evercool fan (I wonder where the company went).
no
Hey Austin, you should consider making cutouts on the bottom so you can add intake fans there!
Austin: I don't want it to look like a gaming pc
Also Austin: Gets a RGB power supply
from the OUTSIDE.
Hey Austin I love all of your videos you r my teacher for gaming and technology thank you so much keep up the great work
6 veiws! Love your channel and went to micro center today
Stfu bish
I know how just don’t wanna get censored
I LOVE sleeper PCs
I’ve begun my Transatlantic flight to the nearest micro Center in the US to claim my sd and USB drives
Since the bottom sits off the table top, I might have considered drilling some air flow holes in the bottom of the case to get air coming up into and then out the back of the case. Also if time had allowed the front comes off and the case front could be reworked for more airflow - Ive got an old Acer case similar to this Id like to do a sleeper build in, its a well made case just has old single core stuff in it.
I assure you it's not on fire YET lol
You could've drilled some holes on the bottom of that case and also could've put at least one fan as intake since the bottom of it is raised a little, but it actually came out great!
Everyone at Austin's media group needs to do there own modded pc .
We could have Kens manga pc
Hentai pc
I am all into retro. So I love this

So that's how you make old PC cases come to life again? Maybe these sleeper builds would prove useful for corporate businesses to create more jobs.
Congrats to everyone who is early and who found this comment.
If you wanted airflow (while sacrificing 2000s aesthetics, would be to cut out the disc holder at the front and install a nice fan.
Fun Fact: If you’re seeing my comment with 10 minutes ago or less, you haven’t watched through the video.

Can we buy anything in microcenter if we're from asia or not?
And if we can, how?
Thank you for making this video. I too have a presario 5000 sleeper. I was always worried about buying a CPU cooler and a graphics card that would fit. My only problem now is cable management. I made sure the disc drive (a blu ray drive I painted white) and floppy drive works, but man the cables are hard to keep organized.
where did you find the blue ray drive and did u update the usb?
Amazing build
That actually looks really awesome!
Microcenter REALLY NEEDS TO BUILD A store HERE IN NC!
Holy this pc brings back memories i had one of these back in the day lmao
Handsome case and dope interior design, beauty 😍
I had this as a Windows ME machine. It was so slow, yet I used it as late as 2013. LOL. It stopped working after it fell off the desk and got heavily damaged. Hope I can find another tower like this some day.
These old cases liked to short the motherboard constantly, I had to put paper behind the motherboard to stop that when I bough my first pc
Thanks for the video and keep up the good work!
It's nice to see 90's college kids build an old PC in the video. 😊😊😊
Honestly I think that microcenters offer never stopped
Should have cut the bottom out and put two fans there for intake. Especially with the stock “lean” that case has
The funny thing is that I was looking up the different windows logos for a school project yesterday and saw that pc
I hope you plugged the floppy drive in :P
also should've set Bliss as the wallpaper since it came with Win XP originaly
