i'm real passionate about linguistics. i majored in it for a few years before ultimately realizing that none of the career prospects in linguistics really appealed to me, and that it was probably better left as just a random interest of mine instead of an actual professional focus. so i decided to drop out and pursue game dev for the time being, since it's another passion of mine and i can see an actual career in it. but yeah linguistics is a super interesting topic imo. like language is one of the most universal human experiences, and yet i think a lot of people don't spend much time actually considering how it works. sure we spend a few years in school learning some prescriptive grammar rules, but that's not actual linguistics. linguistics aims to _describe_ how people speak, not _prescribe_ how they ought to speak. and when you actually start examining it, there's a whole world of complexity. from the acoustics behind vowel sounds and the anatomy of consonants, all the way to the logic of sentence structures and the psychology of speech perception and interpretation.
I dont remember this primordialis update
