I do this with money on the stock market. It's mind-blowingly easy. The hard part (which takes years), is convincing yourself that you deserve to be rich.
I play idle games whenever I have something I have to do; like editing a video, but wanna feel like I'm procrastinating. Few minutes of editing, 30 seconds of a clicker game. Assuming I don't get too sidetracked, its a nice way to balance out my time.
I have noticed many mechanics of games that make me feel like I'm playing an Idle game. Grinding in RPGs is very much like an idle game, for example. As another example, Tower Defense games are very similar to Idle games.
though the heavy buying and selling needed and general micro and macro management in some tower defense games makes them totally not idle. still, idle games often get to the core of what makes some rpgs engaging, some that have a story look like a jrpg with auto combat on.
Over the course of 4 years of clicker games I managed to reach 24 CPS, I always double tap everything that I should only tap one on accident, and finally my fingers are so strong I can lift 75 lbs on 2 fingers
That and a lot of idle games don't require a huge amount of mental horsepower. You don't have to remember a ton of systems characters, quests, and weapons to master. You don't have to solve complicated puzzles etc. etc. Its one reason FPS shooters are so popular. While it requires your attention and some tactical thinking its not the same as trying to figure a complicated puzzle out or solve a virtual crime. You're not having to allocate as many mental system resources to play even though you may be totally focused.
Ngu idle is the complete opposite of that, it gets more and more complicated the further you progress. This makes it crazy fun but Honestly it’s pretty overwhelming. If it weren’t for the community making lots of websites and guides for the game I probably wouldn’t play it at all
dude. know AAA gaming? no other game got me as hyped as CH2 teaser trailer. well monster hunter world did too, but these 2 games are the only ones im hype about. mario? meh. CH2? >rewatches trailer for 10 times
+Lua *ahem* A game where you can find thousands of hours worth of gameplay, while ur average AAA 60$ game will only get you 50 hours of gameplay at most *ahem*
Universal paperclips is so far the best incremental game I've played so far, mostly because it ends and has a progression in how you play. If you want to try an idle game, give universal paperclips a try.
I played few hours of clicker heroes, it was fun, but I reached a point when the game was encouraging me to restart it for gaining an extra advantage and I didn't want to repeat everything, so I stop playing
To me, good Idle Games are a distillation of mainstream game mechanics. Clicker Heroes is a distillation of a game like Diablo: you kill something, earn gold, level UP, kill bigger things, move to next area, hire companions, Kill bigger things, and so on (as far as I have played it). I'm not that interested on big numbers or killing things, but I am interested on resource management games, exporation, story, crafting, unlocking content. And there are Idle Games that are about that, Universal Paperclips and A Dark Room are the ones I played. These games hit buttons that other games hit, but they do it in a very minimalistic way. I like tht
So, now that I can say that I watched this full video, the biggest thing that keeps me into idle games is that most of them are free, and you don't even need a mid tier computer to play them. I also like seeing numbers go up quickly. Like with swarmsim, my only problem with it is that it shortens numbers, because that idea of exponential growth and seeing the numbers go up exponentially is really fascinating. It's a .github game so I can play it at school in my free time(mainly in piano class). Another thing about it is that because idle games are so simple in theory, their added complexity adds a woah factor to it
A quick rundown of the things you can get in Realm Grinder at the time of writing: you start with 6 factions, each of which can unlock a Heritage. You can excavate for 3 Neutral factions, then excavate more for 2 prestige factions that stack on top of the original 6. Then you Reincarnate to start over, getting a bonus power. Then you get Challenges. Then Mercenaries, the aforementioned "build your own faction". Then Bloodlines, more Challenges, Research for the first 6, then 9, then 11 factions. Then you get Ascension, where the numbers come back down cause they were too big. Then Spell Tiers, to make your spells stronger. Then Dragon faction, to add on to the 3 Neutrals you unlocked forever ago. Then their Research. Then Lineages, upgraded Bloodlines. Then Mercenary Research. Then a second Ascension, giving a secondary Alignment with it's own spell. Then Artifact Sets for each faction. Then Elite Factions, that stack on top of your previous 2 chosen factions. More Bloodlines, Unique Buildings, more Challenges, all the way to Ascension 3, where we are now. It's a crazy long game.
My favourite thing about Ultimate Paperclip is that there is a single upgrade that just ends the human race. It's not even a special or interesting upgrade. It's just a click you do to make more paperclips. It's telling that as the AI tasked with making paperclips, ending the human race is just an afterthought. It's something that is really easy to miss if you're not looking for it. That's what really sold me on that particular game.
I came here after getting hooked on my first idle game. I have no idea what's going on. LOL I think I personally would still not get into the mindless clicker games, but I recently started playing Sword Master Story which is an idle RPG. The artwork and aesthetic is beautiful and nostalgic to me, and is what originally drew me to it. It is also nice to have a game that I don't have to pay full attention to while doing other things.
I'm pretty new to clicker idle games, started with adventure capital, now hooked on Firestone Idle RPG. I think they are popular because you really can leave them running whilst other more pressing stuff needs doing.
To this day my most cherished idle games are Candy Box, Space Lich Omega, and A Dark Room. Addicting, content rich, and a story. With final bosses and everything! (Well, the first two I listed anyway. :P )
with clicker heros disconnect form the internet then put your time a years ahead then open the game use all your abillity then close it just keep doing this till your game wont load then use all your abiltys then close the game reconecct to the internet and open it you will then have all your powers active forever and you kill pretty well every boos instantly
Ive put A LOT of time (thousands of hours) playing online poker for 16 years..sometimes for money but mostly play chips...Ive gone broke numerous times, based on bad luck + bad play ect.....Ive spent hundreds of dollars on buying play chips over the years... Anyways, what I like about Idle games is it doesnt require all of your time and attention or money...its a grind yes, but u are always improving over time. If I put $100 on a idle game to get farther in the game faster its more rewarding as opposed to buying poker play chips only to eventually lose all those chips
Well idle game mechanic itself is not complicated to make, but the things that come on top of that can get quite tricky. I made an idle game called Carrot Hunter (it's on google play btw :D), and e.g. calculating offline revenue even if the user is completely off the net. Or if it has online data then encryption and even if the game is multi-platform, but the data has to persist between devices... gets tricky.
i liked CH. i liked crusaders of lost idols more. i liked kittens game even more and the most of them i liked is realm grinder. i dont follow guides and etc.. i try to find solutions to the problems i facing like those gem walls. i used guides only for mechanics of increases and multipliers and etc... i love that you brought up kittens game in to my memeries ^^
My boyfriend likes these stupid games. But I zero'd in on what it is he's addicted to then introduced him to Stellaris. He's lost to me now. Lost in space.
I have a tendency to overwork and get exhausted. When I'm exhausted I want to play something, but I don't want to think about it too much. I'll often play 1-3 idle games while watching UA-cam videos or Twitch streams. I never liked Clicker Heroes or related Idle games, as I feel they ask for too much of my attention. My favorites are currently: on Kongregate: Swarm Simulator, Idle Accelerator, The Perfect Tower. I'm going to check out a few of the Idle games from this video.
I've played The Perfect Tower some. I remember it asking for a lot of my attention to, especially if I want to make progress. Sooo many things to upgrade!
My sister works for a gaming company that made an idle game. They're actually earning. They only have two games but an employee base of 112. Also, they bring the entire company to Greece or Spain every year for their summer party. I couldn't figure out how they were making so much money from just microtransactions and ads.
Opened cookie clicker back up after several years. It has a few things added. Unfortunately not the cookie dungeon that had the girl scouts. I'll have to read about why they dropped that feature.
im not sure they didnt use it, they might still be working on it... for more than just the factory... maybe every building perhaps? im not saying they are still working on it, im just saying you cant be sure they arent still working on it
I think it's easier to play an Idle game and feel a cheap sense of 'progress' rather than face the messy reality of progressing through life, which is often confusing, slow and unfair. The game offers a clean interface and a predictable readout of your progress, and it _always goes up._ That sense of a safe, guaranteed reward is addictive, and is why some people reach for these games when they feel their life is going out of control. If that's you, well, I get it. And things are going to get better for you, even if it's not always clear how or when.
I play them because I can play them during work. They're a good enough distraction when I don't have anything else to do so I'm not bored out of my skull.
played galaxia for a bit... laughed when the factory factory caused the menu to pop out. scared i screwed up fire fox. decided it best to end the game there.
Their website is broken. Can't tap any thing on the screen. I think its the ad for 10% off if you give email address. It pops up then disappears and then can't click anything
Hate idle games, clickers or similar. I used to play Injustice 2 on my mobile phone, and though is not completely "idle", you only have to tap your phone with 3 or so combos against AI and that's it. Not to mention that grinding was not rewarding and after spending a lot of time I didn't have sense of progress. Even spending money was not rewarding because you had very little chances to get good stuff even with money. In the end I decided to buy the PC version and paid 24 euros for the version with all characters on a game that really requires skill unlike it's mobile version. And I will admit that I paid much more than 24 euros on the android game, and didn't get much in return. Now I learned the lesson.
i love upgrading i play alt of mmo games and i waste so much gold ingame RNG because i cant stop my self so i started using clicker games to satisfy my addiction
I've been spending some time in a game called "Time Clickers". It is quite different from most other idle games I've seen, and it has a unique way of encouraging active play which I like. Would be cool if you checked it out, assuming you haven't already.
There's this game about killing chickens, it's kinda like paper clips, you start from chickens, but later it turns into an rpg, I won't ruin too much of it, but if you want the game link, reply to me.

I would like idle games to not slow down so much eventually... It's so counterintuitive if you find 10 new mechanics in the first half hour, the next takes another quarter, next one takes an hour, next one 2 days, next a week... I have a boring job listening to calls and other audio. I need something else to do or stare at something so I won't doze off. clicker games are perfect for me. not too distracting. idle games keep me from being idle.
Kongregate, the site that has fallen into the evil world of boredoom and adiction, the idle game site, where developers make idle games 99% of the time and the other devs that actualy make skill based action games don't get any attention and idle game developers get a lot and update the game. The point that I am trying to make is idle games suck, boredoom and rng might as well be the tags used to describe them.
The irony is that it is called Idle games where you won't touch the game other than set up yojr build and let the game run on it's own while getting notifications on your prgoress. 🤔
I did not watch video yet, but obvious answer - because people don't care about fun, they care about results. Same reason almost every game have unlocks. Because, for them, you need to be rewarded for suffering through game.
best clicker game: grab calculator, do 1 x 1.01. keep hitting the equals sign. you can even play this at school!
Alex Thomas That's better than mine! Mine was just 1+1.

The secret of idle games success is changing clock time and have fun
thats where a sever clock comes in, also try doing that in billionaire and it will throw u in jail when u switch ur time back to normal lol
In games where you can turn offline progress on and off, turn it on, change time to a billion years in the future, turn it off and reset time.
If you want to play an incremental style game that can be 'beaten' in a few hours, and is also hilarious, try out Loot Box Quest.

Clickers are just for those who like them, not those who pick up all AAA they see. My 2 cents.
I adore time clickers so much.
I have a boring job listening to calls and other audio. I need something else to do or stare at something so I won't doze off. clicker games are perfect for me. not too distracting. idle games keep me from being idle.
Yep
if you don't make that game, i will be very sad. i would like to see it.
It's gonna be a long time before I can find the free time to do so.
darn. oh well. your videos are great! i hope you get to 50k subs soon
Try rune rider, it’s actually pretty fun
Kongregate, the site that has fallen into the evil world of boredoom and adiction, the idle game site, where developers make idle games 99% of the time and the other devs that actualy make skill based action games don't get any attention and idle game developers get a lot and update the game. The point that I am trying to make is idle games suck, boredoom and rng might as well be the tags used to describe them.
The irony is that it is called Idle games where you won't touch the game other than set up yojr build and let the game run on it's own while getting notifications on your prgoress. 🤔
universal paperclip. " i need more inches ... of wiring " ball bouncing game " i need bigger balls" oh god my mind is so far down the gutter.
Look up critter mound it's so good.
Cookie Clicker was the first. Oh and Clicker Heroes for me has 647 Hours.
My favorite is probably this thing that's kind of like a Disgaea game without the tactical battles. nyanpals.com/dungeon/

Idle games are Addictive and clicker games I agree with the games
I did not watch video yet, but obvious answer - because people don't care about fun, they care about results. Same reason almost every game have unlocks. Because, for them, you need to be rewarded for suffering through game.
It's like watching tv
i play this with a mouse with a 17 cps button. in other words. it's the double click button.

Any and every game can be a worthless waste of time. That 3rd question is rather moot isn't it? I'll still watch this video though.
