Literally the only sliding catch drill video on UA-cam. Excellent and goofy Video. 👏🔥HOF Jim Rice taught to catch every ball at or near shoulder height so you can see the ball go into the glove for the automatic out. The advantage of the slide catch is the ability to throw out base runners, who typically are taught to go half way in case it’s caught or not, so they don’t get thrown out. The beauty of the slide catch is the ability to stand up throwing out of the slide, giving the fielder more than enough time to double a base runner up 💥🔥
Thank You great fun drills.... Always leave the out takes please. Makes my daughter laugh and know it’s ok to fail a few times before getting it right.
My son used to be excellent at this then at the beginning of last season he sustained a wrist injury from laying out. Ever since he has been hesitant. He’s recently been saying he needs to find training to boost his confidence. I’ve been searching tube for days looking for anything that I can get out there and help him. Watched numerous videos by Matt Antonella and various other professional coaches and then this popped up as a suggestion. I almost didn’t watch it thinking what’s a teenage girl gonna show me that a professional baseball coach can’t…..I am glad I hit the play button. This video smokes any of the other how to diving catch videos in all of UA-cam. Thanks for posting it and and keep it up.
Cool video. Thanks. One tip…you’re gonna injure that throwing hand by bracing your fall with it. I would recommend leaving it out straight like superhero flying through air. I’d hate to see anyone dislocate shoulder or break wrist because of impact on it. Just like sliding head first as a baserunner. Keep those arms extended straight out. Thanks again. Best of luck with college 🙌🏻
This is very helpful i’m trying out for a new team in a week and one of the helpful tips to get on the team is diving and these drills are perfect definitely will be practicing them for the next week! 🤣😁
Keep pushing. Everyone makes errors. Don’t get discouraged. Stay focused each pitch and know where the play is if it’s hit to you. That will help minimize mistakes.
Good tips on OF work but did not understand the purpose of the one drill where the ball is placed at a cone, you run and then dive or slide (ie coach shouts out), and round around the ball as if off the fence. Why the dive or slide in between the run and throw (ie as of off the fence)?
@@lexislaphappy she’s 14. This is her first year playing and my first time coaching. We’re both growing together. My GF daughter plays for the Cubs RBI team , so that’s how we got into softball. I’m passing your videos to my players! Keep the videos coming!! You’re doing a great job 👏
Love your videos. Is there any other channels on here or material for training. My daughter will be a freshman this year and looking to get back into softball again

Does diving hurt? I’ve always been too scared to dive for fear of it hurting afterwords
The lower you start, the less it hurts. And it never hurts if you make the play! 🤩🤩🤩
What’s your ticktock?
My position is outfield but I can not dive if I do I will eat the dirt and grass😂😂😂😂
