Aum or om doesn't have any meaning. It's known/believed to be the sound of the universe. Try this, chant Aum slowly .... when you chant aaa... put your hand on your belly you ll feel maximum vibration around your belly button (which is where your life began as we are connected by the belly with our mother in the womb). A must to watch tihis film... Arya what an amazing actor depicting an Aagori... and there is no cannibalism just They often dwell in charnel grounds, smear cremation ashes on their bodies, and use bones from human corpses for crafting kapalas (skull cups which Shiva and other Hindu deities are often iconically depicted holding or using) and jewellery.
You made my day taking Jason Momoa's name! It was the exact comparision even I thought of as the video started. There is this animalistic, magnetic look in their eyes.
Giving you some context, some cultural explanation about the things he was doing in this song: First of all, these were some highlights from the movie combined with the actual song. It seems that all through this song he has already become an aghori and his family (father & sister) is searching for him. The incongruency Rick is talking about (the song being a prayer and visuals feeling as if not a prayer), so in Hinduism, we know that every religion, every person has a different style of praying and all those styles are accepted wholeheartedly. Even the purpose or reason for praying is unique to every individual. Aghoris are basically on a journey of self-discovery and their prayers, their life is completely different than people living in societies. There are many different types of self-discoveries, but basically there are 2 types - (1) that you do while living in a society (2) while cutting all ties from society. Aghoris are of the 2nd type where they cut all worldly ties of relationships and feelings (emotional as well as physical sensations) and they set out to discover themselves. Normal people identify themselves as their body or their mind or their society or their country. Aghoris and many spiritual people rise above all this and don't limit themselves or their consciousness with any of these limits. This is difficult to understand, so I will give an example from this song: The places where he is fighting, he is saving children and disabled people from a begging ring, not because he cares for them personally (he has cut all social & emotional ties), but because they and him are the same, their feelings are his feelings, and so, he feels the victim's pain and feels the selfishness of criminals as his own. Like, we and our hand is the same; if our hand feels pain, we feel pain; if we do something selfish, our hand does the deed because we and our hand is the same. This guy has simply expanded his consciousness beyond his body. So while putting the criminals down and helping the victims, he is simply seeking to maintain balance by nullifying the emotions of all that he has accepted as his own. You won't allow one hand to hurt any part of your body, would you? Similarly, he cannot allow these cancerous cells like criminals to affect the health of the entire society. If someone pinches your hand, you feel the pain as your own, don't say its the hand's business, the hand will see what needs to be done. So when you expand your consciousness to the entire society, you don't say atrocity has happened with them so they will see what needs to be done about it. And like in body, you don't need eyes to know where the pain is or what is causing pain, similarly, when you expand your consciousness, you won't need eyes to know where bad things are happening and what exactly is happening, like in body with your eyes closed you can tell whether you are being pinched or slapped. That's the power of consciousness and that's why Aghoris are feared. They don't need to know you to actually know you. But Aghoris don't usually meddle in the society, but if they decide to intervene, nobody in the society stands a chance against them. With this same mentality, Aghoris don't feel extreme heat or cold (hence you see him coming out of fire almost naked and walking almost naked on ice) because they are much much more than their bodies. Even people who are not Aghoris may have this capability of feeling no pain by simply raising themselves above their bodies. Aghoris usually chew tobacco (hence the red lips) and smoke marijuana, so he wasn't chewing on the dead body. But one thing this movie may have made a mistake about is that Aghoris are usually spiritually very very strong. So they don't need to indulge in physical fights; they can kill a person with just one chant or just a thought. That's why people in India fear them and never cross them. Maybe they are showing an aghori who hasn't reached that level of spirituality. Btw, Aghorism is a continuous journey, not like graduation that "he did this or that and NOW he became an Aghori". Aghori is a lifestyle with continuous self-discovery. The initial yoga stance he had (balancing on his head with his legs crossed) is a pose that can be used for meditation. The pose where he is sitting on top of a boat is another one used for meditation. The old guy with long white beard was giving him deeksha (lessons). The 3 dips in the river Ganga is considered extremely holy and the Aghoris flock Ganga right from where it emerges from the ground. The sprinkling of water on the head has different meanings - if it is done during education, it means one lesson is over; if it done at the end of the puja, it means a blessing; in this song where he is keeping his eyes wide open while water is sprinkled or thrown at his face may mean that he is rising or has risen above his body where he doesn't feel the water hitting his open eyes. However, as audience, we know that the actor isn't expected to reach that level of spiritualism where he doesn't feel the water in his eyes. If he reaches that level, he won't care about what people think of him and he will let go of his acting career :-D hehe And while you were observing his hair and eyes and beard, you completely missed the necklace he was wearing - it was I think finger bones of people (he must have scoured the pyres for bones). Any dead human parts whether they keep it close to their body or consume it, helps them surge forward in their spirituality. They don't eat human flesh for food or because they like the taste or because they are left with no other option - its like if you want to study science, you have to cut open frogs and rats in the labs. So it's just a necessary procedure for them.
For me this movie is so personally quiet disturbed after watched at theatre . It was a quiet unbelievable experience. Such a strong song .shooting really did at Harischandra Ghat. Varanasi...where they burned or cremate the bodies . Goosebumps with all the actions he did physically. Heard that they don't cremate agoris ..they just tie a stone and let them drown inside Ganges water. Now unsure bout this .but what a movie ..enduring pain.. obviously.
Thanks for reacting to this...this is the introductory scene of the hero in the movie... Just awesome intro for a hero... He is doing a sheersasan in padmasan and being shown 360 degree, meanwhile superb singing by vijayaprakash aswell

This is the realism in Aamir Khan's PK pinched to maximum pain. The film put the seed for Gangs of Wasseypur in Anurag Kashyap's head. (Hindi dub is on UA-cam - unmissamble)
Aghori are raw and true representation of Lord shiva. They live like lord shiva himself. They represent lord shivas true embodiment. They represent the true sense of being devoid of desire. To attain that level of lack of desire They embrace every base desire they suffer to overcome it.
Aghoris and Naga sadhu are two different things. People often make mistakes and merge them as one. Naga sadhu mainly spend their life in the Himalayas and they come in front of the public during kumbh mela. Where as you can find aghoris near the cremation ground mainly in Varanasi and many others places.
You were so focussed on figuring out the visuals that you missed Vijay Prakash's phenomenal singing that gave that extra boost of adrenaline. Do react to more of his singing.
You can relate to this movie only if you read up a bit on Aghori and renunciation of the materialistic world. In this form Shiva destroys evil with compassion. Kali does the same. Arya character demonstrates the roudra aspect which again is only for the good. The best part is the chanting in of Slokas. Can't belive the myriad emotions it invoked in me, and the tears flowed, and I was in awe of my father, Lord Shiva. Of course like most eldest siblings, I am partial to Ma Shakti. Of course the go-to guy is Lord Krishna, the cleverest, and my best friend, who sees right through me when I throw tantrums and puts up with me with s smile. The best response from Him, 'oh, really'.
The first intense raw dark genre film in tamil industry. After watching all movies from all languages had never seen a so raw film as this and even the comedies also will be dark. Watch it as many times you can and still this movie will give you goosebumps and teary eyes. Could still feel the film after all the years...
The hero you see in the song is called an agorhi and agorhi's are prevalent in many parts of the country(India). They live mostly near Himalayas and they are also called as Shiva
To know what he's doing you guys should what AGORA means.....this songs is not tamil, it's sanskrit one of the old Indian languages and this song is abt praising LORD SHIVA. Yeah and guess was right this song shows the whole movie the climax where walked out of the cave that scene you should know by watching that movie one of the most raw and accurate movie that shows what's the right way of life, our life's sufferings, what's the life's ultimate goal 🙏
He plays the character of aghori. The Aghori (Sanskrit aghora) are a small group of vamacharic ascetic Shaiva sadhus. They often dwell in charnel grounds, smear cremation ashes on their bodies, and use bones from human corpses for crafting kapalas (skull cups) and jewellery.
I think, this is about aghoras... who visualise, physical body as some meat lump and advocates to liberate your soul for cosmic eternity. In 500 bc, they assumed lord Budha to be that master who could lead them to such liberty, but, when they found Budha is different from their thoughts, they seperated from him... any spiritual path through normal merciful living, through meditation, through karma, through ideology, through atheism and loving living beings... all result in karmic residue because of which, your soul will get imprisoned in the physical body of life repeatedly.... aghoras exactly differ here from other spiritual paths and they believe that their way of life is finally to liberate the soul for cosmic eternity...
It's a wonderful movie on Agoris and the hero of this movie who is in this song is Arya, hero of Sarpatta parambarai (you guys watched this film which is based on Boxing)..

A very important thing to consider when trying to understand films featuring Eastern philosophies is not to view and understand them under the moral constructs of Western philosophies (Which is primarily influenced by Christianity). I know its difficult for someone who has shaped their views on moral conscience in a particular way. Eastern philosophies don't necessarily work on the concepts of good and bad. Although many Indians believe it to be that way. So its not about him being good or bad. There is a lot to be said and discussed about the concepts the film tries to delve into. I'm not gonna do it here. I just wanted to make a reminder on how not to approach certain concepts.
you may appreciate the movie main character, rudhran, if you know the story of lord rudra. in this movie, rudhran was the depiction of rudra , the initial stage and ferocious form of shiva
It is the intro song for this movie..... It just a sample that shows what you are gonna see in this film..... An outstanding one. Try to watch this. You will be amazed by his performance... He is a fine actor
The person who is seen doing Yoga posture sirsa asana (headstand) in the beginning of the song is the hero of the movie who was left in Varanasi (a holy Indian city) by his rich father because an astrologer predicts ill times ahead if the father stands raising the kid. The kid was raised by the aghories (hermits) and become one. The whole song depicts the life of an aghori. The song is a theme song since aghories are the followers of Lord Shiva, the Hindu God. If you need more, I can explain it to you in detail (the 4 plus minute song).

This is one of the three Tamil movies which inspired Anurag Kashyap to make Gangs of Wasseypur! That's why he gave credit to the three tamil directors in the title card of Gangs of Wasseypur!
Oh my god.. Things of indian cinema that u guys introduce me to.. ❤️❤️
The actor playing lead is the same guy who played the lead boxer in sarpatta paramparai movie that you guys recently watched 🔥🔥
After this song released , it's all time firstly played in Kashi temple India
This song actually a devotional song, but director show in other way of artistic performance entire meaning of song
I request the OSR team to recommend them an interesting documentary/video about Kumbh Mela.
Just listening to the OM chant will purify one's mind and soul
I just read 'The immortals of meluha' by Amish Tripathi one of the best books
The whole series is great. Read the Ram Chandra series too
@@atulya7845 yaa
But series is not about lord shiva it's totally different shiva in book
@@mansirathod505 it's a different take. The hard facts remain the same, the details vary
I accept that but for that people who don't know about lord shiva it's not good choice to read that book first bcs I know many people that they think now what happened in book its all really so its kinda mess up about lord shiva's life personally I read whole series 4 times and it's mind blowing
Exactly
Giving you some context, some cultural explanation about the things he was doing in this song:
First of all, these were some highlights from the movie combined with the actual song.
This is difficult to understand, so I will give an example from this song:
The places where he is fighting, he is saving children and disabled people from a begging ring, not because he cares for them personally (he has cut all social & emotional ties), but because they and him are the same, their feelings are his feelings, and so, he feels the victim's pain and feels the selfishness of criminals as his own.
If he reaches that level, he won't care about what people think of him and he will let go of his acting career :-D
hehe And while you were observing his hair and eyes and beard, you completely missed the necklace he was wearing - it was I think finger bones of people (he must have scoured the pyres for bones).
Now unsure bout this .but what a movie ..enduring pain.. obviously.
Best film ever in Indian history
Thanks for reacting to this...this is the introductory scene of the hero in the movie... Just awesome intro for a hero... He is doing a sheersasan in padmasan and being shown 360 degree, meanwhile superb singing by vijayaprakash aswell

04:05 wow Rudram chants😍😍
Shivoham means I am Shiva, a very powerful mantra, if chanted properly it is believed to give you immense power.
This song reminds me of a Sanskrit song "MAHA PRAANA DEEPAM" from a Telugu movie..
Damn.. Shiva songs and prayers are so energetic..
The name of the movie is the whole concept of the movie.
Dude korbin, watch the movie seriously, it is an Oscar worthy movie

I have seen the main guy Arya with his GF at Forum mall in Bangalore ( in the year 2010 I guess), surprisingly no one recognized him. May be he wasn't a huge star back then. but he was damn good looking. He is a malayali but acts mostly in tamil movies.
great hats off to director Bala gave a such a wonderful movie. Raja sir music mesmerizing.

Finally they are getting to taste the real potential of Indian cinema.... Common.. it's high time to review these movies...
Abhishek Kalarikkal Sukumar yup, they needed to cross the crass of Bollywood to reach class of Kollywood!
@@lakshmimukundan understandable... Most of their viewers are north indians.. in not complaining. Let's face it south Indian viewers are way lesser so cannot complaint. Nobody will agree but when it comes to content and script... Not only just Kollywood but also Malayalam film industry. 1 year has passed but they have just reviewed just one movie in Malayan (kumbalangi nights) this gives the whole picture of their viewership. Anyway we can just hope that someday they will get there. I follow them because of their artistic knowledge unlike any other UA-camrs... Again we can just hope that they will retain their artistic values end of the day 😌
Totally agree, I love Malayalam movies nowadays. I like these people and follow them for the same reason you tell me and I am patiently waiting.
Those who have no desire for gold, woman and soil, serve God and live their lives
Om namah shivaya 🕉️
This movie stayed with me for 2 days after I watched it. The only time it happened to me..
It is the Lord Shiva song who is infinite Om Har Har Mahadev
You were so focussed on figuring out the visuals that you missed Vijay Prakash's phenomenal singing that gave that extra boost of adrenaline. Do react to more of his singing.

This song makes me want to watch the movie. Very intriguing!
Do watch it! It's quite disturbing though but a work of art!
This film music was composed by Mastro Ilayaraja...
It's a national award winning filim..a rare masterpiece
One mistake!!! its not Om Shiva Hom🤨😑 its like🙏🙏🙏OM SHIVOHAM🙏🙏🙏

It's a wonderful movie on Agoris and the hero of this movie who is in this song is Arya, hero of Sarpatta parambarai (you guys watched this film which is based on Boxing)..
Aghoris are not cannibals. Period.
some times they are... but not everyone though
They can be
Not all are. But some, most definitely, are.

It just a sample that shows what you are gonna see in this film..... An outstanding one. Try to watch this. You will be amazed by his performance... He is a fine actor
The singer is Vinaya prakash sir From Kannada he is Great singer
The person who is seen doing Yoga posture sirsa asana (headstand) in the beginning of the song is the hero of the movie who was left in Varanasi (a holy Indian city) by his rich father because an astrologer predicts ill times ahead if the father stands raising the kid. The kid was raised by the aghories (hermits) and become one. The whole song depicts the life of an aghori. The song is a theme song since aghories are the followers of Lord Shiva, the Hindu God.
If you need more, I can explain it to you in detail (the 4 plus minute song).
