Hey Melanie😁🤚🏻 I just got hired at a dental office about 3 weeks ago (IT WAS A BLESSING) & I was just applying for the receptionist , but they accepted me to work with the doctors as a RDA.. and they told me they could help me get my license ❤️ .. what I love the most is I work @ a small office! Lately they have been having me do hands on stuff , test me , help me, & quiz me about questions to see if I remember ❤️ i hope I go for a long run in this job I’m happy w/ this new job I hope I will get my license & be a good RDA 🙏🏻
I’m also taking perquisites for the dental hygiene program, I need 3 more of those classes to go apply… but right now I am currently taking a break, until next year I’ll be back to college classes to finish that up 🙏🏻
🥹🥹🥹I wish, I’m currently studying dentistry in the Philippines- in my 4th year . I really want to become a DA in the US but i don’t know how to apply ughh
I found a job to train me with not experience. I then paid for my own xray and infection control certificates, along with my other RDA classes. Now as a DA, im going to become an RDA soon for under $1,500. I also went at my own pace
Nice! I had a coeworker who got trained while she was a patient at a dental office 😆 but unfortunately not everyone can do that :c that’s great that you were able to do that though!! 😁

I just got a call a couple days ago to come in for an interview for a dental assistant. I have no experience and didn’t actually think I would get the interview! But I’m super excited and I think they will train me also
I did a 1 year program at a community college. Before the program starts you must have taken your CPR certification and medical form done by your physician. The benefit of doing a One year program is you graduate w/ 1. Radiology certification 2. SPICE certification 3. Expanded functions DA 4. DA diploma 5. Better preparation for DANB (national board certification). Most students graduate w/ their certification depending on scheduling from DANB) 6. you do clinical rotations for 2 semesters to do all the hands on you’ve learned in class/labs which you treat as a working interview bc they may end up hiring you. 7. You graduate as a DA II Regardless of which route you take to become a DA, you will gain your experience on the job! Every office/dentist work differently. The con of a 1 year program is the cost and that it takes longer but the pro is you graduate w/ all these certifications and you’re better prepared for the certification exam & you do not have to take different certifications at different times compared to the fast track programs. Most importantly you can request more pay fresh out of school bc you have all the qualifications needed. But like like she mentioned, do your research and pick the route that best suits you! 🙌🏻
DA II, what is that? I guess it depends on the program the community college has. And what certifications do you graduate with? But yes totally agree with you!!! People have to chose the best path for them. And thanks for this info!! I’m sure people will find it very helpful :)
@@MelanieLunaDiaz A DAII description/requirements varies from state to state. But you’re considered a second year DA. A DA II performs more task delegated by a licensed Dentist based on the laws in your state. The best way to find this information is by going to the DANB website in the state you live in to see the requirements to become a DA II. A 1 year ADA-accredited dental assisting program already has the requirements within the program which helps you graduate as a DA II.
I know here in NC if you go the “trade school” route, you come out a DA1 or a certified dental assistant! You then have to complete 3000 hrs before going to DANBE which is out st board to become a RDA (registered dental assistant) the biggest difference in DA1 and RDA or DA11 is the ability to do cornel polishing! RDA’s make more!
Thank you so much for this info in your opinion which is better I live in Charlotte and I’m trying to determine which is better college or a 12 week program the goal is RDA
I’m so excited for my first class in August and your video was super helpful and will be binge watching all your videos. At my high school district they offer a 1 year RDA class which also includes 6 certifications tests and for a semester we will get to train and work on actual patients at a nearby school of dentistry and their clinic for free and I also get 50 credits, meaning I will graduate with over 300 credits when we need 230 to graduate and on top of that the class will also count as an a-g requirement for all college and university in CA.
thank you so much really helped me since I’m a senior in high school and wanted to be a dental assistant after high school very appreciate this video much love 💗
i became a DA through the military. then, i just went and got a few dental board approved licences and i was able to continue doing it as a civilian. i mean thats how i went about it. on a side note: whatever route you take, find a doctor that will let you intern for them. do this while you are going through your trade school or class. it will but you miles ahead by the time you are done.
Here in germany you NEED to do a 3 year trainee and after 3 years you have like final exams and you need to pass them before you can work as a dental assistant. In this Trainee, you have school and work in a dental office at the same time. For example, you work 3 days a week and on 2 days you have school. You earn as a newbie around ~17$ (hour). BUT!!!! in this whole 3 year trainee you earn ~6$ per hour, from the first day and you don't need to pay anything for the trainee. Instead, you even get some money.
I’d opt for a dental assisting program at a community college rather than a “trade school”. For the amount that you’re paying might as well get more for what you’re paying
You’re right… honestly… I think I would have learned more through college. BUT I wouldn’t have been able to get a job as fast. It all depends on your situation I guess

Hello! I live in Georgetown, Texas. I moved to America from South Korea last March. Finally I got my green card few days ago!! So I was googling what I wanna do in America and then I decided to become a dental assistant!! I have questions about dental assistant program. When do you have to take a national board test(did I say right?)?! And X-ray test too? Do you take a test in school or somewhere by yourself? And also which traid shcool did you go? Sorry I'm so new about everything haha. Thank you so much!!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️
I applied to work as a dental assistant with no experience I got hired right away. I was very happy. However, They say with the experience you earn your certificate and the dental office will pay for it. some how do you recommend me to keep this job or do you recommend me to go to school? I will call this the trade school form . However I’m not sure. What advice can I get from you?
If your office will pay for your schooling, I say go for it! Because in some places it is illegal for you to work as a dental assistant without being registered.
hey, I was wondering how you applied? I'm applying and im not getting any call backs :/ I've only worked in retail places so I really have no experience. Did you call them and ask if they were hiring or how'd you go about it?
Watched all of your videos from the bottom up to here and really excited to be a DA in Texas but I don’t know yet the requirements for foreign dentist that would want to study and work there.
I’ll just give you that info right now! :) so it depends on the state you are in. But you go to your official state dental website and there should be a tab that says renew dental license. And that should tell you how many ce credits you need and it should show you your renewal application. You can take free ce credits on colgates website :) it will show you a video and then you answer questions at the end. After that it will give you a ce certificate and you print and mail off your ce certificates with the application to your dental board. Hope this helps :)
