I am 41 and this sums up exactly how I am got bullied at school knowone taught me how to deal with it or deal with women or money or how to deal with conflict and setting boundaries. Dad was there but passive.

Wow you pretty much described my situation to the T. I'm 30 and still feel so lost, in a weird way I chose my mother over my partner (couldn't explain why, it just happened ) and it destroyed our relationship completely and I hate myself for it. Hope you make a more detailed follow up video on how to fix this dynamic

I will most certainly follow this up. It's a tough one but it's necessary.

You talk a lot of sense and really know your stuff. I find all this so fascinating.
A friend of mine just got divorced from a ‘man’ who’s almost fifty. He was a great example of what you talk about and had not cut the cord from his mum at any point. Not long after they married, he agreed to go abroad with his mother for Christmas not even thinking to talk to his wife about this. It amazes me how she stuck with him for three further years after he did this.

Omg those are totally my parents , my mom is like a boss and my dad is like a free being, he tells me to do things to move out if I want to and my mom cries and says no to move out she needs me and she’s super controlling.
I’m 34 yeah but in my mind and my parents eyes I’m 19

Bro my parents are exactly like that, i used to always think my mum acted way to much like a man/masculine around me while my dad was always absent>working

Thank you for the video. This is almost correct in my life apart from the fact that my mother is an obvious cold hearted witch (not one person has ever said so). Apart from that everything else fits. Also, I do not think that the author of this video has children. It seems obvious to me.

Wow! Oliver, you EXACTLY described my parents, my life, and my relationship with my mother. There is just a difference with my mother. She is not overbearing, she is overcaring and she has always been too worried for me. She didn't let me experience the world because it was too dangerous. You have no idea how I'm glad I found you. For the past 2 months, I have been relentlessly working on myself. Made a list of my problems and started to research about them one by one. One day I came across Peter Pan Syndrome and I searched and found your videos and I'm so thankful for that. Because everything I did in the past 2 months (like taking care of my health, eating healthy food, better sleep pattern) has been very fragile and unstable. I'm getting back to my old self recently and I had no idea why but I know there is something very deep wrong with me. I knew there was a core in me that was not fixed. All the fixes I did in these 2 months were superficial but the root cause of my problems is untouched and thanks to you, now I've found the root. This is now my first priority.

I left home at 17yo. I am now 59yo. My mother has refused to understand that I have an independent person. Every time I have set boundaries with her the push back has been horrendous with horrendous accusations of what a horrible person I am. 6 months ago I told her it's best that we don't have anything to do with each other. Apart from feeling a bit guilty because societal norms say you should not do this to your mother. Sometimes, it's necessary. Adult children are not responsible for whatever mental health issues their parents have. That's the parent's responsibility as is any adult

What if BOTH parents are overbearing ("The whole world is dangerous and everybody is out to get you!") and were always fighting in front of the children?
