Well Sam. I'm a Canadian. And I've lived in a few diverse places in my own country and our country is pretty much the same way . Old Canada to new Canada. Rich Canada to poor Canada. Frequently Im told I live in the greatest country in the world but I can show poverty and crime ridden places here too. Down east we have fishing villages that look alot like what you're showing here. Then we have the nations capital Ottawa where they make it as modern and hip as possible for political reasons. At least in Ottawas downtown core where the government and embassies are. And then there's Toronto where a ten minute walk can take you from poverty and crime ridden regents park to a rich part of the city full of million dollar homes and bmw's. Oh and then there's the gated communities in Oakville. Well Sam it looks like your country has a rich tapestry of new and old rich and poor like mine does. I guess that makes Russia an ordinary country just like mine. Ps on the street I currently live its just a gravel road like one you're walking on. Keep up the good work.
I love Ladas, I wouldn't mind seeing more of them, maby even a video from Soviet retro car festival or something:)👍
Stop paying attention on haters. Do what u do no matter what haters says. Every country has poor and rich places. Its not what makes Russia best country in Universe.
BTW those haters may even not be Russians. Or they may be liberals. And those liberals are the worst.
Hi, Sam! I say all this "real Russia" thing is a complete misconception. The point is that not only is Russia so big, but also it is incredibly diverse in terms of life standard, culture, climate, you name it. Therefore, when you say that a shabby building in Vladimir suburb is "real Russia", I will say "yes" to that. It is real and unique two-storey Russia. Yet it is merely one of its sides. If you say that your friend's gorgeous house is "real Russia", of course it is! Moscow city is real Russia, and Optina monastery is real Russia.
To sum up, real Russia is the spirit and our tradition, our values, and, unfortunately, our flaws, expressed in a great variety of ways. Those who say that only cool Moscow is real Russia, they do not know my country and cannot rightly love it. And only those who accept it entirely can boast that love.
Totally agree.
I totally agree with you. This is the case with every country!

Small minds cannot grasp the big picture. There are poor areas middle income places, and rich areas in America and perhaps in all countries.
In Russia you will rarely find areas. Mostly people with different incomes are living in the same area except filthy rich gated communities around Moscow
@@spacewalrus909in USA the mentally ill, drug addicts are found in tents in the downtowns, children parks and subways of cities and towns, the real normal poor people lives in trailer parks, the projects (very old decaying buildings- like your Soviet buildings), well the inner cities and hoods are also poor areas but also very rich people can be found there problem is high crime, it's also smelly... But going to any of these poorer places and recording like this dude is doing you better do it under cover or you're looking for trouble, especially our blacks alot are okay but the majority is very hateful towards whites and Asians, there's a lot of attacks on Whites and Asians especially here in New York, the police doesn't really care or do something about it, it's getting very bad!!! Dear Sam, my wife is Polish, I've been there many times over the last 16 years, there are still parts in Silesia that are appalling, crumbling flats, holes in the roads, awful communal areas, communist era stagnation still to this day, however go to the big towns, it's all glamour and modern shopping malls. I could do exactly what you are filming, the difference between the big provincial towns where European money has been spent on transport infrastructure and the new mall's, just a few tram stops away, it looks like a coloured WW2 setting.
If you travel east, you will come across the old single storey wooden houses built in the 1890's or earlier, often seen burning in WW2 films as the Germans went east. These ancient dwellings should be retained as part of the historic architecture of the region, not seen as 'poor' housing.
I can show posh and very poor housing in the Black Country in the Midlands of old industrial England side by side, very new and very old, but here the very old is seen as heritage.
Just do what you honestly do, I find it very interesting and informative, best greetings from Wales 🏴
Do Russian get irony, youve been dishing out in spades.

100 years later Sam will be known as a chronicler of Russia. Thank you, Sam.
Even old houses are very picturesque with surrounding green. Looks peaceful and sweet
It'll change in autumn and winter. The dreary months with the lead like skies and clouds and some muddy pathways can really be...depressing...

Privyet, Sam. I watch your videos because you are genuine. What convinced me you were real is when I first watched one of your videos and you described Russia as a "land of contrasts," and that's what you loved about it. BTW, the older "dacha-like" houses are the best. You have a YT channel and struggle to make people happy. Imagine running a town, city, or country? Superb job, Sam. Blagosloveniya.
Just keep telling the truth.
Sam, I love your videos. Yes, Russia is a country of contrasts, this is manifested in literally everything.
Our family has a house in the village. We didn’t come there for a long time and it fell into disrepair, the fence was rickety, the barn had collapsed, the area was overgrown with grass. If someone took a photograph of our house, he could sign it as “real poor Russia.” But then my parents retired and decided to live in the village. The whole family built a new, large, beautiful house with all the amenities, and put up a new fence. Now my parents live in this house in winter. Perhaps someone will say about our house that oligarchs live in it. 😂
When I was little, my parents had 3 country houses in different villages, which they inherited. They sold 2 houses.
My friend lives in a typical village house, which from the outside looks old. But inside it has a shower, toilet and good repair. Appearances are deceiving.
I would also like to note for those who don’t know: many Russians live in cities, and only come to their dachas (individual houses) in the summer for a few days or don’t come there for several years. It makes no sense for them to invest heavily financially in a house in which they spend 2 weeks a year.
I have never understood people, especially Westerners, who judge the well-being of Russian citizens by the appearance of their country house.
Hi Sam, I don't usually leave a comment on your Video's but I like watching some of your videos. I like how you show Russia where you live. I like seeing all different types of Russia. I'm a Black American woman and I always thoght Russia is a very interesting country. Keep up the Good Work Sam.
So real Russia is just like any country but bigger ❤️🇷🇺
No! Western countries have better roads and infrastructure across the whole country and not just in specific towns/ cities.
not really, goverments usually don't steal from people and citizens doesen't have to live without water supply and electricity.

The funny thing is that such housing is most likely PRIVATIZED, which means there is a chance to get a normal apartment thanks to the state program. I myself live in a new apartment, in a 3-story building, Tver region. And in the 90s, I, together with a family of 4 people, lived for several years in just such an old two-story house, built by German prisoners after the Second World War (by the way, the house was very warm, it had a toilet with a bath, but the gas was imported). Since 2017, I have been living in my own apartment, which I privatized; at that time it cost several thousand rubles. I received it from the state for free.
Would like to see 😊
Bet you, it's not as bad as where I live in Lowestoft 😂
Sam, these comfortable houses were built on the site of shacks similar to those that stand nearby. So with your video you show that Russia is developing and the welfare of the people is growing. Unevenly, but growing. I am sure that new beautiful houses will be built in the near future on the site of the old houses surrounded by cottages.

Very good point.!
In my opinion the “poor” parts look nicer and more natural than the large new homes.
There was a standard project for these old houses, small but good in esthetics.
In “poor” areas, people live much more peacefully. At least they are not tormented by their conscience because of the origin of their wealth. 😁💯
Hanno il senso della comunità... verissimo!
Sometimes people buy such old rustic wooden houses for recreation outside the city limits. They are cheap and there is a piece of land where you can plant flowers or greens for the kitchen. Sometimes people don't care what they look like, the main thing is fresh air and silence. But some restore them or demolish them and then build brick cottages for the summer and weekends.
More atmosphere and character ❤️

It's not really "contrasts", it's freedom (for exercising almost anything one wants to/needs, at the same time not being fined 100500 for some unmowed lawn). Most, if not all, of those differences like the "red square" and "half abandoned datcha", as if the "opposits" or "contrasts" exist only in very limited fragmentary minds, while in reality belong to one the same family, close relatives or even one the same individual. There's no "segregation" of any sort in terms of comparable to anything in the West or anywhere else. I personally own 3 datchas and "am in charge of" the fourth, two of them I got from my grandparents, one is my mother's, yet most of the time and things there I do, and the fourth I bought myself, they range from a basically totally abandoned one with basically nothing done there since around 30 years ago to the one with an all-year-round habitat of three floors (+ the fourth is the underground garage suitable for living in two separate rooms as well). How and why could that be different? Some people, especially when getting old but far from limited by this reason only, move to "simpler living" / "downshifting" (for savings, for less of noise, for renting out their main habitats, for living in the nature or close to, like a lake or a forest, for whatever other reason), some spend there summers or weekends even, some retain housing in their place of birth that might be "in decline" due to various objective reasons and they moved long ago, yet they retain that in hope, or real known prospects, of revival of that, at the same time investing currently 0 in upkeeping that. And countless other possible cases there as well.
No one will understand what real Russia is unless they go there to visit and go somewhere other then Moscow and St Petersburg. I remember my first time going to Kursk what a culture shock. Keep up the good videos Sam.

Just hate the haters and do you thing, Sam. It's your channel and show what you want us to see. I sure enjoy watching your videos.
This was hilarious. Good job
Just returned from a Russian provincial city. It is booming with supermarkets and restaurants full all week.
Hi Sam, one of your best videos yet! You should drive around in a Lada, like a Soviet. You should have asked the guy in the garage what he was working on. I would rather live the old dasha style house. Keep the videos coming 😸
Yes, I’m a fan of real Russia! I’ve been there many times and have always enjoyed the real bit. What stands out in your backstreet videos is the virtual lack of litter! Keep it going mate. Show us everything. No need to apologise. Your angst is hilarious! No need to even mention Bald. He didn’t mention you. In his own way his vlogs are entertaining and he is charismatic when interacting with locals. But your approach is priceless. As you are able to speak Russian, I would enjoy a few more encounters with the friendly local people, subtitled. And more zhigulis and volgas would be fine. Thank you so much!
That’s because the people find a use for everything.
The most valuable and not mentioned part in the comment section. Mansions and houses of relatively poor people are located all together without any gated communities for the rich. What does it mean? It means no crime or crazy people on the streets and no need in gated secured areas.
Sam was not explained or did not understand. Rich and poor houses nearby mean nothing to safety and crime. If you live in a posh house and your neighbor is in a shack... this does not mean that he is a drug addict and a criminal. And that he will listen to loud music and climb to steal from you. This is not the case in Russia.
There are cheap old houses in this village. They are bought by wealthy people. They demolish bad houses and build new ones. Wealthy people like this village. And nothing else.
There were 2 little girls walking somewhere. It's very safe there.
Actually, the real perspective like you give us is very valuable, because we see the reality - we don't see only one of the extremes. So, it's good 👍
My wife is originally from Stary Oskol, Russia, 13 hour overnight train ride from Kursky Station in Moscow. The people in Stary Oskol have a totally different mindset than the people in Moscow. Very friendly. I really like Stary Oskol. We've been married 28 years and on our trips back to Russia, we've seen a lot of changes. All of her living family are here in the US with us now and my wife has no interest in returning. I made friends there and miss seeing them. All we have now are text messages. Personally, I'll take the old Russian architecture over the modern.
Sam, I live in Alabama , USA and I could show the same here - contrasts. We have 12 Counties that are 3rd world- then we have Huntsville area and other wealthy areas.
Keep doing what you do, Sam. I recommend not worrying about what people think of your content.
Take no notice Sam i love your content. What i see is no litter , the people that live in the houses are probably very happy where they live.
Many people hate if I show a run down house!!!!
I don't know, I find the wooden houses like the one at 6:50 quite charming. I love the ones with carved and decorated features.
haters gona hate. the topic is hilarious :) you do great videos, keep going
The best thing about all of your videos are how genuine and honest you are. No agendas, just facts and the truth. Life as it is.
Sam, I am just like you.
And I am even married to a Russian lady.
Sam you are doing great. Wonderful video.
The Queen of England, remember her the old queen .
Never explain, never complain.
Be Sam.
You don’t need to ask us what we want to see, no
Surprises us. With your life. Your Russia.
Show us your world, that’s what we want to see.
Great channel,
Myself, and my wife are returning to SBP next week.
I hope to see you in Russia. 😅
Well well, Sam, you're definitely the watershed youtuber 😅 It's the energy or the profusion of green, even the less glamorous or ugly areas are not at all depressing. I like it all! ❤

I live in the main street in the capital of west Java island. Besides me an empty house, watched by a kind house keeping family who sells rice porridge to compensate free stay as there is no payment, the owner stays abroad and pays the tax otherwise the property will be taken over by the local government. Thanks for sharing your village environment.
Sam, you are doing great! Keeping everything real and true for what you do. Just keep doing what your doing.
Everyone has opinion like everyone has an ass hole.
Difference is good/ contrast.
You have my support.
Good 👍 video Sam you are always objective and honest I appreciate that…
Just keep showing what you want to show. It is interesting and unique. I like your videos.
Love your content Sam. Keep the faith and keep making great videos!
I appreciate that! Thank you 🙏
I would love some of those old houses if fixed up. Some nice charming character to them.
Thank you for your honesty, there is NO COUNTRY without faults. They all have beautiful areas that everyone loves to see and areas that nobody wants to see or deal with. I am from the USA and we have our fair share of embarrassing places and situations, but at the same time we have a wonderful bounty of beauty!! Thank you again for sharing! God bless Russia and God bless the USA!!👍💯

😂😂😂😂😂😂 the talking 🐻 bear.😂😂 I love the videos I like to see it all. You know you just can't please everybody all the time. I love your sense of humor brother keep it up 🤙
It’s all what I know and expect… and I love it…
Thanks for the video.
great video idea
I love how you call out the assholes Sam. The world is full of'm.
I used to think that there were only people who thought I’m a Russian propagandist! But lately I’ve been getting hate from people who somehow consider me an anti Russian propagandist!!!! 🤦🏻♂️
@@SamsRussianAdventures Yep...assholes.
Thanks for your videos, Sam. You never miss a chance to show something odd and quirky like the swan or the garage with plates on the door. It is always good to get the real picture as opposed to what you hear in the media. To me this video shows a Russia that has had a difficult history but judging by the amount of new construction, is on the up and up.
You can find neighborhoods in the Chicago area that look worse and that look better. We are also a country of contrasts.
I wish we could all live in peace. All the best.
We get the same thing about the the United States. According to the internet, the only "real" America is either a trailer park in Idaho or Beverly Hills, California. 🤣 Keep up the good work! Continue being yourself! Make the videos that seem right to you.
Idaho, try Mississippi. Although CA is a shit show. Many are moving to Idaho.
According to the internet CA is a lot closer to trailer park in Idaho nowdays haha. But yeah, everywhere is real X, contrasts are everywhere and in every country.
I say show it all, every country has the good the bad and the ugly. because often there is much beauty in the ugly and ugly in the beauty.,,It shows the soul of a country.I love seeing the many different sides its what makes it a rich and diverse country.
Hi Sam!!Now you told exactly what i have always been thinking about. Some youtubers want to make some lala land and they want us to buy it. My deepest respect to you for speaking out. Yes every society has pros and cons, An honest youtuber shows it all. You just did that. Thank you and keep it up! 🥰
Nice video Sam, thank you. We all know that Russia is not all cotton candy, there's nothing wrong showing rural Russia and what life is like outside of the big cities. I would love to travel and see Russia from one end to the other. UA-cam vlogger "Bald and Bankrupted" traveled all over Russia and showed its true beauty, unfortunately he got in trouble with the authorities, but in my opinion he was a great ambassador for the Russian people. He clearly showed that Russians are not the boogieman, and that the common people are just like any of us. Please keep making videos of your home town, I love to see them.
Just keep doing what you do Sam. Anyone who has travelled, knows that there are good and bad/ old and new in just about every country you can think of.
From what I've seen of Russia it looks a lovely place to live, it's vastness and it's diversity is something to be admired.
Sam.....alot of folk refuse to accept reality. Good on ya, we aren't all biased one way or the other......facts are facts, like it or not.
Sam, keep up the great work. Love seeing all the aspects of life and the people in Russia. Those Buhankas are really amazing. Would love to see a video just about them. Cheers!
If you want my opinion, I'd say don't worry what people think & just ignore negative comments. Just carry on filming real life & if old & new happen to mix, then so be it.
It’s just surprising how many foreigners only want to see red square
In California cities, people poop in the streets, drug needles are strewn everywhere, and the population is largely crazy! Russia looks pretty good to me!

That’s awful!
Thank you Sam. You are the best.
Greetings Sam! From Uruguay. My congrats on the love you feel for a society that is not in decline as it is here in the West.
