Hey, Sam! You've become like a virtual buddy to me. I am so happy to see the people I am a part of smiling. It's that human warmth from the people around, which is so lacking in the society I'm living in. Greetings to you from Kiev, a city that always used to be Russian, regardless of the state in which it was located. Now people around here have forgotten who they are, what culture they were brought up on. They gave it up, bringing barbarism instead. But it has already happened in history, time has always restored the true spirit of The City (as Bulgakov called Kiev in his works), contrasting it symbolically with the khutor(check wiki for this term if you don't know the basic meaning) thereby contrasting civilization with barbarism and savagery.
It's nice to see how many friends you have in the city, you've literally integrated yourself into the local community. I knew that before, but it's still nice to notice it every time. Staying yourself, you have already understood quite well what is called "the mysterious Russian soul", it's not so hard to understand if you open your heart, isn't it? Your Swiss buddy Neils (if I'm not mistaken) looks pretty happy, I see that he also feels absolutely natural in Russia. The holiday itself is a great event for the people of Vladimir - this city with the great history. In general, I wish you and your viewers from all corners of the Earth all the best, heart warmth and mutual understanding. We are all very different at first glance, but at the same time, as long as humanity is present in us, we are very similar.😉

Great video Sam! This is exactly what I love about the Russian people. America used to be like this in the 60s and 70s, but sadly it's not that way anymore. I would love to visit Russia and stumble upon one of these festivals. I would just wander around all evening hoping to talk to as many Russians as I could. I'm very much in love with Russian culture and history.

Actually, what you see here is very new for Russia. I spent the first 10 years of my life (1989-99) in small town Russia and I remember Russians as serious, introverted, and oriented at private life. Here I see a Russia that's completely new and alien to me.

Bonfire singing made me tear up a little bit - it reminded me about my teenage years, its a very Russian thing to do, dunno about other countries

@@advaitsharma2743 yeah, it was like a completely normal thing in my teens and in my early 20's to hang out for a weekend at somebody's dacha - at lake or at river, make a bonfire - drink, make shashlyks, hook up with girls (or boys) and sing songs together. It was like every weekend in the summer and sometimes even in other seasons of the year - with banya, walks in the forest and bunch of other goofy activities. In my last two years in school we had a very good bond in class and almost entire class was participating in it (like 20+ ppl)
Quite a few people said this! I think they do it in America and Canada too.

Живу в Нидерландах, бывал здесь на подобных фестивалях, здесь упиваются пивом, вином, все в мерзких татухах, море коров-толстух и корявых женских особей, и после на полянах или площадях остаются горы мусора в виде пластиковых стаканчиков, обёрток, палочек, трубочек, всё зас..ано, а тут смотрю --- чисто на поляне.
Молодцы организаторы, молодцы отдыхающие, худые, стройные, весёлые, улыбчивые....
Нет бухлу, нет наркоте, солнце, воздух и вода --- это Русская среда!!!

Yes! I get crazy hate! They even try to make us UA-camrs argue! Some will ask me a question about other UA-camrs and then tell them that I said things about them!!! It’s all a bit sad.
If you see a negative under a positive comment about Russia, there is a 90% chance that it was written by a Ukrainian. And they don’t care that everything is bad at home, the main thing for them is to make it appear that everything is worse at their neighbor (Russia). It's quite ironic i think, but there were times in 90s when Russia was heavily influenced by western and especially American culture and American way of life. So Russia was aspired to become what can essentially be described as a blueprint of everything best about USA from 90s to 2000s that came to life in a form of modern Russia. The irony is, that USA of today is no longer what it used to be. It's a different country, different society. Modern Russia is everything that USA once was. Films, and culture, even fantasy about service economy.. All these things were actually a lie to which Russians believed and as such were aspired to make it real. And so mad lads actually did just that. Russians created everything that western culture lied to them about.. with help of influence from films and music and media propaganda. Russians believed it's all real so they made it all real. That's why Russia's service system is so advanced, internet is extremely cheap and available to everyone and bank system is so far ahead of most western countries while economy is mostly cashless and digitized in so many intricate ways.

One of the many things I like about Russia, there are next to no obese people waddling around like ducks in fact on my several visits to Russia I never saw one.
