      That same basket of food would cost well over $200. If not more. The inflation t ion in the USA 🇺🇸 is through the roof. The people don't make much money there. And pensioners are on fixed income so it's cheap for a reason.🤔

    Sam, you're a saint.. My mother was bringing up the family during WW-2 and she used to tell me the shelves were almost bear of food all the time ( I was a post war arrival). She became a hoarder because of the fear mongering put about threatening another war in the 1950's and 60's. That lovely lady you've helped probably had some bad experiences that made her hoard stuff, but she's a real character and your kindness and generosity has made her life better in so many ways.

    Hello Sam! Here in Colorado, USA, a full shopping cart would cost $250 to $300 of food. Other things that Grandma’s really like, or at least I think they do, is: warm socks for winter, underwear, hairbrushes or hair ties, clips, shoes, and pajamas. We kind of had a similar situation with a babushka in France. We found her living with cats, no food, and the house smelled horrible. When we bought her those things mentioned above and cleaned up her house, she was very happy. Her favorite things were the winter socks, like the thick kind you can walk with, pajamas, and kinder Bueno!! Thank you for helping this babushka!! Yes, hoarding might be a slight problem, but maybe she doesn’t know how to throw things away? Like the broken buckets?

      It's called purchasing power parity - RUBLE is the most undervalued currency in the world right now, so you can imagine that if some people in Vladimir get the monthly salary of $600 they are considered wealthy. Everything is relative in this world.

    • @gerrelldrawhorn8975
      @gerrelldrawhorn8975 Місяць тому +1

      Exactly. The reason she needs that food is because she is surviving on about $200/month. Average salary is $600. She could never afford that fridge. The ruble was once 20 to the dollar not so long ago. The currency was supported extensively after the sanctions, with banks and money lenders being shut down and the dollar only being exchanged with a large transaction fee- when the ruble lost half it's value, but there was a recovery to 100 rubles/dollar. The director of the Russian Treasury said that the measures taken were unsustainable and submitted her resignation. Putin refused to allow her exit.
      Now the Ruble is trading at 200/dollars on the foreign black market in Thailand, Vietnam, India. So since the war the Ruble is about 1/5th the value. The greatest impact is in foreign produced goods and imported foods.

Many of my staple purchases have just vanished altogether. But about calling on us elderly. It is common for us to have medical events / falls and not being able to answer doors. So I suggest that in such cases a "Wellness-check" might be worth considering. The door was open . . .

      Half of all Russians spend more than 60 per cent of their income on food. As a result, they spend their summers growing food in the country in order to survive. Russia is a land of poverty, despair and oppression. Highest suicide rate in the world, average male life expectancy of 64 years, they live in tiny dilapidated tenements. Great video. Please don’t move her. In my experience when the elderly get moved after living forever in one place, even if it is a nicer apartment, they will have a sudden health event and die shortly after moving. That move, is incredibly stressful on them, whether anyone knows that or not, it is. I’m 61, and 3 yrs ago my wife and I built and moved into our final home. It’s in a 55+ community. I see new neighbors move in from all corners of the US, and the elderly, say 75+, usually pass away within a few months. It’s that move that does it, and the shock of change. I think what you’ve done for her is already over the top. I suppose you can rinse and repeat and find another babushka to ultimately help support with these mitzvahs and kind acts. Again, great video, keep em coming

    God bless you Sam, grandma deserves a helping hand, that's what living in a community is all about. In Virginia USA $60 will get you a fraction of what you got.

    You really have such a big 💗 Sam. You have your own problems and still you are there for others. You trying to fix a new home for her while you can't move in to your house (yet).
    I just watched Russell's visit to your house and it was nice to see you two together. It is a really beautiful area. Tranquil and nature so close.
    30 eggs for 3.09 USD, I am in chock here. In Sweden they would cost twice as much, 9 USD and before the "sanctions" 4.50 USD.

    Вога нет, but if there were, she would grant you a thousand blessings. I enjoy your channel and even though I've been to Russia (including Vladimir and Suzdal) many times, I always learn something from your videos. Thanks for that. Peace & Love ✌️

    Я жил и в Южной Африке, и на Маврикии, и для большинства семей это мечта - иметь возможность потратить 100 долларов и купить столько еды, и, насколько я понимаю, в России качество намного выше, а химикатов меньше, чем во многих странах.

    Get a lot for your $59.41. Would say that shopping haul would be 3-4 times the price in Australia. At least. Very kind of you to support the wellbeing of your elderly neighbour. Well done Sam.
