Of all the amazing OSU drum majors -- all amazing -- you are The Best!!! We are all very admiring and very impressed by your kindness, humility, exceptional talent, hard work, team play, persistence, highest standards, and very positive impact. Thank you for all you do, and best wishes throughout your future.
This man has come so far from his origins, he was the first baton twirling drum major for my local high school’s marching band, mentor of last year’s Ohio State drum major Braden Deemer, and friend of my cousin. Hope he is doing great! Greeting from an alumni from his high school band from Howland township Warren, Ohio
There’s a tremendous guy who was DM there. He’s a doctor now and recently got married. It was fun to follow his path. He made a great impact during his tenure.
What he does looks more physical than what the football players do (not regarding the part where you get slammed or stomped on or tackled or pushed or struck in any way).
Im watching from Australia and only discovered this type of marching band a few days ago and now Im addicted. I dont understand the meaning of touching the ground with his head and also the "prancing" ???? Can somebody please enlighten me. thanks.
It’s part of the pre game good luck ritual I think? The drum major has to do a back bend and touch the ground with his hat or it’s bad luck. I think he also tosses his baton over the goalpost and catches it as well but nobody ever sees that because he’s way ahead of the band at that point.
You have no idea how lucky you are in the US, simply because of the huge population you have, loads of money etc. It's normal for you to have such things as these wonderful people events; no such thing in Australia; no people, no money.
Well, if you consider the demographics of Ohio (mostly white) and Alabama (mostly African American), it makes sense. Not to say notherners don't go to Auburn or southerners don't go to OSU
Who else is on a John LaVange binge?
Boss
Tardisin221B can someone explain why he’s so popular?
@@TheElloatmatt Because he is John LaVange.
I'm not ashamed.
@@TheElloatmatt because he’s so good at what he does. Attention to detail. Height of the kicks, pointed toes, depth of back bend.

John you are a genuine example of hard work and discipline. Much respect!
John LaVange:
Changing the World. One Baton at a Time.
John LaVange was born to be the drum major of TBDBITL. He's my favorite followed closely by another.
I want to be in the band. And I'm 53. Well done John :-D
John! Your amazing athleticism, devotion to your college and inspirational presence are unmatched! I hope life is treating you well as you did us!
Thanks for all the great entrances, always good to see you!!
Good Luck

HBCU style of marching and drum major/band showmanship... true life "Bring It On"
I feel useless. I can't catch a ball and there he is being interviewed and the baton never stopped moving. 😏

Incredible!
An example of a fine young American. He is the best band leader. What a talent.
Love watch John Lavange twirl that baton while talkin.
Where is John now?
I'm definitely on a JL binge.
John is a Legend

John talks as fast and fluently as he twirls the baton. Godspeed in your endeavors, young man.
Damn. Konner can be assistant drum major and edit.

Love me my T B D B I T L !!!
What a neat fellow!
The best of American youth
Further proof: football is 100% ghey
He is the Greatest, Konner is next top!
Cute boy :P
Why is it whenever they catch the baton they have a look on their own face like they can't believe they just caught it?
Imagine being criticized for years as being non traditional and having the exact same people mimic you.
#blackculture
His style is nothing new! All the HBCU bands been doing these moves for decades. The fanfare, backbends, the baton twirling, high steppin...etc. 🤷♀️
@@mstarry exactly what I’m saying
I support John LaVange wholeheartedly, but not fox! #JohnLaVangeRocks
wow.. the honor to be immortalized in a Simpsons episode.. now thats sick
okay, so only showed him practicing not performing in a game?
Ram
Michael Knowles Anthony Ranch
I think he looks like Captain America
Smart will smoke in Mann
Ohio rulz!
John Lavange Rules. I've watched UA-cam video a hundred times.
What is the deal with the back bend? Obviously it’s a “thing” for OSU, but what’s the significance and history of the move?

It's an "O" for Ohio
how ignurt,,, dudes probably working at 7-11 now
That's a lie.
Lol. Not that working at 7-11 is bad… I’m sure he is successful in all his endeavors! Little Jimbo sounds jealous!
Twirling is fun, huh?
Nope, not stating the obvious.

British students at Universities here would not have time for any of that malarky, they are out drinking and looking for rumpy pumpy
4 dead in Ohio...
Gay?
goofy
Why do I only see white folks marching in OSU and only see black folks marching in Auburn?

Gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Mai big: stop it! Lol
Are you dumb? Gay has only 1 y!
GAY!!!!!!
Juhuuu! I would love it!
Drum Major looks like a Russian Cossack Dancer.....The band marching is like a bunch of sissy's............
I hope this sissy"s will visit you for some.....playing!
If you can’t say something good, why say anything at all.
@@donabbott3707 His mouth would seal shut and he couldn't eat his Wings and Beer!
