How to Play Chords an Easier Way

- When first learning how to play chords, we learn to play them in root position. But, that becomes awkward.
There's a better way. Instead, we play chords in inversions to make it easier to find the next chord.
My student was having a difficult time with playing the inversions, so here's a video to illustrate.
* Finding the common note is key.
Illustrated in the video: C E G --- C F A --- C E G --- B D F G --- C E G

Happy Learning! 🎶
Perfect teaching.
Thank you Amber, I am an adult piano learner. Left hand and moving around the keyboard for the chords have been my challenge. Now I can speed up changing chords. Thank you,
Art
That's great Art! I made this one because my adult piano student was having a hard time with her left hand chords also. Let me know if you have any suggestions on what you'd like to see.
Thank you very much. Learnt something today.

Thank you…I’m teaching myself piano (69 yo) and trying hard not to look down at my finger placement. Your instructions were very helpful!
Thanks Ruth! It's great you're learning piano! Have you ever taken lessons or starting from scratch now?
I offer private lessons as pay-as-you-go, meaning you can book one lesson to get feedback on your playing as opposed to regular weekly lessons.
Please show us more on the keys directly on the piano, so that we can see which keys belongs to C major.
Hi Kristin, here are the chord notes, and I added it to the description. Also, put a link to chord inversions.
C E G > C F A > C E G > B (D) F G > C E G
The camera is a bit too far, but I appreciate it
You're right, but I hope I explained it well enough for you. Thanks!
Maam, Would appreciate if the camera position is placed to see the piano chords more closely than face, despite well explanation.. !!
I cant follow you. You are a lefty and you never mention that you are playing with left hand. Come on on "Teacher"
I'm not a lefty. It should be obvious I'm playing with my left hand. I'm using my left hand because usually we play chords with the left hand and the melody in the right hand. I should do another video with playing chords in the right hand and bass notes in the left hand. I hope that helps!
