Cold Water Fishing at Whinwhistle Fishery

- On this trip I headed out after the mother of all Perch. Whinwhistle holds some truly huge specimens, so they were one target, the other was Pike.
Fishing a lake called “the rail”, I must admit I was not feeling hopeful. With the weather barely above freezing it was looking awful. And with limited time it was not looking good.
And I was right……. It wasn’t……. Nothing to do with the fishery it was just incredibly difficult, although I did catch……just not the intended species.
But a great few hours fishing was had, and a cracking bacon and sausage sarnie from the onsite Cafe.
Have a watch. Give it a like and follow the channel and, as always, enjoy.

Just found your channel. I fish whinwhistle fairly often and never fished that lake I've always been told that there wasn't anything in there great to see there is.
It was hard going that’s for sure. But may have another go when it’s warmer
I'm new to fishing and found your channel after UA-cam searching Whinwhistle as I had gone there a couple times in the past 2 weeks. I tried the Rail last Sunday and yeah its definitely a lake that you have to get right.
Glad you found me. I was not sure if I just fished it at the wrong time, it was very cold, but very surprised there was till fish feeding, wrong species but couldn’t complain. I hope to get down there again when it’s a little warmer for a go on the main lake.
Some good cold water angling there mate, I’ve recently stumbled across your channel, and saw you fishing at the Badshot Lea fishery & I’m thinking of possibly joining FAS. If you don’t mind me asking for your opinion, Do you think it’s worth joining? - I’ve just heard that there fishery’s can be very busy and unfriendly, especially Badshot. Cheers!
I loved the Farnham waters. And Badshot for me was my favourite, but others like Stockbridge lake are also excellent. To be honest when I was looking at joining everyone said it was really busy and getting a swim will be an issue. I didn’t find that. I mainly fished weekend and always had space. Especially Badshot big lake, the lake is so big with so many swims I think it would be hard to fill it. I can only assume the busy bit will be the Yately waters, I didn’t really fish them. I’m only not joining this year as wanted to mix it up a bit so trying Hartley Whitney. Any questions just fire away mate.
