Love your videos, so tired of the click bait channels. "90% of anglers get this wrong". "The pros don't want you to know this". Nice to hear about techniques instead of spam.
Thank you, Matt; looking forward to watching this one later when I return from my foray to some Local Pond to have a go at the bass. Good luck to those heading out today, and I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend!
Man I completely skunked for 3.5 hours and was about to go on to the house and take my tail kicking; decided to try another 2 waypoints on way back to the ramp--> 1st 1 they started schooling 5 mins later and smashed em for 15 mins straight. Went to last one and was kinda dead too, like usual when you say last cast get a bite. Stayed and caught em there for 15-25 mins there as well. Ended with a 4.52, 3.07, 3.01 and several several cookie cutters. Hoping you wrecked em!
These last few videos have been the best because you’ve mixed in a little teaching to go along with the gear. We all could have boxes of gear and totally unable to fish them correctly because we don’t know quite how we’re supposed to. I’ve picked up on small things I’ve missed thanks to these videos. 👍
Best thing I did going into winter last year was watch your metal baits video.....50+ fish days multiple times on the Axe Blade and Vault. As always thanks!
Matt I caught my 11.4 lb PB after watching a video of you have an epic day crushing them on a blade bait. I bought a few Damiki blades and the first time I threw it I wore them out. They had never seen a bait like it. Within 2 weeks of using them I caught my PB. It’s been game on ever since. They are very effective and underused lures.
Matt I have to say, one of TB most epic videos is you throwing a blade bait in that small cove (you may have took Tim this year) . But that’s not an Expride 7-2ml, that massive bite is the 6-10 m. One of TB best videos
I watched your blade bait videos years ago and implemented them into my cold water arsenal… I have to say, I have caught bass in the middle of winter in god awful conditions on blade baits when absolutely nothing else could catch fish. I’m all in on Damiki Vault’s! If I could have only 2 baits all winter long they would be a jerkbait and a blade bait!
Up here in the north...water temps in the 40s but a nice day yesterday in the 60s, shore fishing I was catching fish right off the bottom hopping the blade, then catching other bass at the end of the retrieve holding to the rip rap. Blade baits are a great option this time of year, thanks for the video!
Great job Matt!!! You do these type videos better than anyone! I have not fished any of these baits on a regular basis. This video will give me the confidence that I am doing it right. Once I know the technique, it’s all up to me and the fish!
I got turned on to blade baits a few years back after a couple videos of TB. And it works absolutely fantastic in cold water (and I even mean…cold as in Chicagoland land area cold-before ice fully covers the lake). I’d definitely throw a few BB’s this winter if you have any open water where you live.
Oh…and I should have clarified-I should have said ‘lakes’. I didn’t specifically only mean Lake Michigan. (Though it kills it there as well. And USUALLY…no matter how cold it gets…you can find open water on Lake Michigan from the shore.)
In the winter where im at water get brutal cold high 30s low 40. In maine further north people will ice fish. Sertain parts where i live is great for ice fishing sometimes in the river. Football head Jigs are great for winter fish. Get a chunk and some procure trophy bass game on. 😊❤
my favorite tails spin and most productive on my body of water has been the 10,000 fish deathstalker. I never see anyone talk about them and they are more affordable and to me a sleeper bait.
Matt is That Saint Croix 7'4" heavy, The best spooning rod if you are just using flutter spoons. If not what would be the best dedicated flutterspoon rod?
Blade bait bite rocks in the fall on erie and conesus in new york once the water temps drop to low 50s and it gets even better as the temps dip into the 40s. Short hops on the bottom with an occasional longer rip. Fast tip is a must, fluoro is a must (i use 12# invisx or red label), fast reel is a must to keep up with smallies as they dart to the surface. Make your own all the parts are on jannsnetcraft (ss splits #2, ss snaps for line tie, 5/32 holographic eyes (silver, gold, chart), die cut holo tape (silver, gold, chart) for bodies, vmc BN 1X short shanks #4. If you aren’t a smelter and don’t wanna pour the lead on the brass or nickel blanks you get from janns, you can buy the already weighted blanks brass or nickel in a cariety of weights from Barlow’s tackle. Lose too many in the zebras and rocks to buy fancy ones and the homemade ones work just fine. Nice little winter project i have 100 nickel blanks arriving today that i will assemble and give to friends who like to use em!
So far here in Colorado ponds. The fish have completely stopped biting everything no matter what I throw. In some of these ponds, you can fish the entirety of the water because they are small enough. So they're either all schooling together in one little area that I can't find or they're not eating anymore.
I fished Colorado for 30+ years...what you're experiencing is the fall turn over, although it's a bit late in November. You can jig a small metal blade bait in the deepest depressions in the small bodies of water, or even still slow roll a lipless or drag a small jig...it's all about being on top of where the fish are congregated. I used to catch largemouth and smallmouth when half a pond was still covered in ice at South Platte ponds, bottom jigging a 1/2 oz gold Binsky blade bait...it works in the coldest water so long as you are on top of the fish. Good luck.
i use a tailspin year round in the south, i burn 1/4 OZ tailspins in ponds and its effective as hell, i use a Shimano Clarus 7'2 ML fast paired with a Shimano curado 70 MGL with 10lb invisx and it slays 365 days of the year. dont underestimate these baits, i catch hundreds of bass using them.
Have you tried the 6th Sense tail spinner, the Gyro Tail Spinner? I use it alot and do really well with it. I was surprise to hear you say you use a medium light rod. I throw mine on a 7”2’ MH mod fast. I will try using a lighter rod though after hearing what you use.
@tacticalbassin yall need to find an old cicada blade bait and try out the bait finesse metal blade crossover. No-one makes a good cicada anymore so probably not a widespread tip. But it's wintertime bait finesse gold.
Hello Matt. Thanks for the video. In your 2020 video where you listed your "Favorite Rods by Technique", you listed the Expride 6"10" Medium as your favorite for Blade baits. Is that no longer the case?
Hey Matt. Just a Quick Question. At 9:15, You Say That You "Own a Good Lure Retriever" etc. and That You Go In And Get The Lure If Needed. But The Actual Lure Retriever Wasn't Mentioned In The Video Or Description. What Do You Use For a "Good Lure Retriever"?? Thank You For Doing What Y'all Do. Y'all Are Much Appreciated!!! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Matt, I have the same Frabill lure retriever. It rusted after use in brackish water. Since I will probably be able to fish from the shore, Do you ever use or can you recommend a lure retriever that slides down your line? Thanks, Guy
Anyone looking at expensive blade baits, I'll save you a little $.....two words: Silver. Buddy. Old school & proven. The original blade bait. (I say a little because even they've gone up in cost too!)
If you buy one lipless crank you might as well buy 3 because you will be losing some. I use mine on straight braid to minimize the lost baits. Fish don't seem to mind.
I have the Nichols and every single time I use it the hook hooks itself on the spoon. I can drop it down 1 time and it's hooked itself. What am I doing wrong?
Cracks me up when he says budget friendly combo and it's 500 dollars+ 🙄🙄🙄 Not sure if he knows what budget friendly is or doesn't realize how much they are without sponsors and everything else
Anybody ever fish these metal baits in crystal clear water, or is it not as productive as it is in murkier conditions? I'd be fishing deeper, 20+ feet...

We've seen those same click bait titles so many times, they are now unsubscribe bait 😅
@@dant8213same here. Just unsubscribed from Randy’s channels. It’s the same repetitive stuff anyways.
@@jamesbarron1202SAME. Randy is senile.
@jamesbarron1202 yea I ditched Randy's channel about a month or 2 ago as well...couldn't stand the notifications, let alone the videos 😆
Randy loves to cry about livescope. That is like 80% of these videos.
watching this during my pre work dump, thank you tactical bassin.
Always poop at work. You get paid for it
@ one before one during time and a half at end of day

Lol, I love it. He says I can’t take it. A true bass head.

Dang Matt, that vault box is impressive 👏
Great stuff. Glad you talked about barotrauma..
Thanks!

They work fantastic in even the coldest of water right before ice starts showing up

On a boat of on a bridge or something. Fished have moved on to deeper water so my usual spots aren’t producing.
The Damiki Vault was my best performing bait last winter.
👏👏 Awesome job Matt, those little baits are deadly 🔥🔥

A whole box of Damiki Vaults 😮..you are a tackle junkie Matt..awesome!! They do catch em though.
Probably great to use when it's hot outside as well. 🙂

im all into the lecture then he grabs a rod and says i cant take it. lmao 😂😂😂 like a shivering dog waiting for a bone.
Dead on, used Damiki white blade and was slaying smallies in NE Ohio. Lake Milton. 3 fast cranks with a rod pump. 3-4'.
What is the best lure retriever?? Tried a bunch, still lookin
Anyone looking at expensive blade baits, I'll save you a little $.....two words: Silver. Buddy. Old school & proven. The original blade bait. (I say a little because even they've gone up in cost too!)

I am surprised bfs sized blade damiki isn't talked yet. 1/4 oz damiki vault is micro!
