- This is my attempt at re-creating Danny Carey’s iconic performance on Tool’s “Pneuma”.
The performance starts at 00:04:49
This is an incredibly challenging piece to cover for so many reasons You’ve got crazy compound odd-meters, tons of specific cues, unique electronic sounds, independence, endurance, precision- this song has it all.
I gave myself five takes to get this one and posted the best I could muster. Make no mistake: this took several weeks of practicing to even get it to this point. I suppose I should give myself a bit of a break though since it does take to years to write and rehearse these songs!
Please let me know how I did in the comments.

Thank you so much! Danny is incredible & trying to do justice to this song was a major challenge
Brave
Treading that fine line between bravery & foolishness is my jam
Damn boss. Super commendable job on that.
Thank you so much! This song is a bear
@@HandsomeFuture Oh yeah it is. You no doubt put in a lot of work to pull this off.
Fuck yeah
Thanks!!
Great work Mr. White! I can tell you put the time in to get this dialed! Some day I will have the technology to try and tackle this one and I will def be coming to you for advice. Cheers!
You know I’ve got your back!!
Great try! There's just no one that can play like Danny. #Toolforever
Couldn’t agree more! Danny, Billy Cobham, John Bonham… these folks (& others) are all the absolute best drummers ever, partially because no one sounds quite like them, even they can’t sound like each other exactly
