Dear god. I've watched more drum covers than I should. I don't play but have always loved watching a good drummer. Danny is god. You freaking nailed that. Best cover on here.
Drums sound phenomenal!! Snare was a touch too loud and although it never drowned out everything else, it was still a touch too loud in my opinion (which I was never asked my opinion so it doesn’t even matter). But the tone, pitch, and tune of the drums were just phenomenal. I find sometimes people build kits and never make sure their cymbals sound good not only together but sound good with the kit itself. Whether they get muddy sounding cymbals or crisp or studio cymbals or stage or whatever, they don’t mesh with the whole kit and sound outta place. Your cymbals are spot on for your kit. Great setup. The mic system for this video has top quality sound! Crystal clear with no muddying of the kit components. Highs of the snare and cymbals were perfect and crisp, mids of the snare and toms were perfect, and low end and resonation of the toms and kick drum gave me wood. Great sound. I noticed your left beater laid against the head when not used so I’d say I’d like to have seen two kick drums, but we all know the trouble (uuhhh I mean fun) of perfecting two kick drums to sound like one drum and then micing them up perfectly to sound like one drum is. Great work on your chops from one of the greatest drummers in music history. He’s not an easy act to mimic. I wish I could mimic him at this level. Having just watched it 3 times in a row I can say I thoroughly enjoyed this video!! Easily a twelve out of ten stars type of video. I’ll definitely be looking into more of your stuff.
@Ryandal Gilmore well, I’m a subscriber for reason. You’re a superbly capable drummer and love your Danny Carey covers both drums only and the play-alongs. You got the snare right without the snares engaged like Danny does. I love that attention to details. I’ve watched and liked a bunch of your videos and plan on watching more in the future. Keep up the great work.
Wow that looks so much fun! Not to mention a bit hard eh? Thanks for for sharing. This is my fav from Tool, I love to break down their songs and enjoy one instrument at a time, and combining some. Anyway I'm infatuated with this drum track in particular, such a work work of art!

nice, nailed it! gorgeous sounding drums, especially the snare and cymbals!
Incredible work as always man. I listen to your drum only tracks and can hear the rest of the song in my head. I've started using your tracks to learn the songs on guitar so thank you.. Great testament to how much you nail it, although I got a little lost on the long silence in the middle.
robvancram Glad to hear it, and yeah, trying to follow through that middle part without the original track would be impossible. I think it's amazing that Tool recorded these incredible complex songs without any click tracks. They just sat together in the studio and played the songs straight through.
WOW! You absolutely crushed it man! Fucking stellar work, I've been working on this tune for a couple years now and couldn't get it quite right until I watched this video. Thanks!!
Thank you so so much for this, really great job man. So happy I found this, it's so much fun to play guitar along to this! It takes me to good place! Keep at it brotha!!!
Thumbs up! Nice job brother. The only cover I learned from TOOL is Parabola and that, while being relatively simple for TOOL was the most difficult thing I've done on drums.
This following statement isn’t intended to be a slight to your talents, because you’re good, but more of a praise to Danny. When I watch your drum covers it’s looks like you’re working your ass off. When I watch a Danny it appears effortless. To me that’s testament to how good Danny really is.
Interesting I was thinking how calm he is remembering every little tiny nuance of something someone else created.... you maybe should watch the stick flips...not sure if it's in this one or another
Dude aside from the very unique ability to play these insane pararhythms the drums should like the stem track. What an amazing mix. I sit and watch you play these songs a bit too often, feels kinda creepy! I forget you're covering a track. Danny doesn't look as fluid as you do. I'd love to see you do Godsmack "Straight Out Of Line." Not cause it's a challenge but it's a fun song to play
I’d like to ask a question in how to master the kick drum part of the groove that one is really tricky and having trouble what’s the best practice for that
In matter of dificulty,is this song on top 10? It looks very technic and fast. As a mere admire, not a drummer, seems to be very hard to play. I really apreciate your job. Congratulations.
Nah, it's actually one of the easier tool songs to play. Although yes, the rhythms are fast and complicated, they're pretty straightforward. Carey likes to incorporate a lot of "pizazz" to his rhythms, making them incredibly varied, so it almost sounds like he is improvising. That's why he's so well known for being a remarkable drummer.
+Erick Hetfield Not a drummer, but if I were to guess it'd be Rosetta Stoned. It's 10+ mins long and the drumming sounds like it's constantly changing. The live versions of Triad they do is pretty much the same. Carey did an awesome drums sequence with Tomas Haake on the song 'Triad, btw. Worth finding it on UA-cam.
I heard an interview a long time ago in which Danny Carey was asked which of the tool songs are the most physically demanding to play live and he said it was this song because of the intensity and because also they don't play it live as often as other songs.
Is there a certain sticking pattern used during the tom grove, or is it just single strokes with accents? BTW, your right floor tom (16"?) sound amazing.
Poisonjam7 I'm just playing single strokes, but after recording, I watched the live versions of Danny playing more closely, and he uses a flam on the second group of accents. I'm bummed that I missed that detail before recording it. But overall, I'm happy with the recording.
+johnkew don't beat yourself up over missing that flam, it doesn't detract from the performance as a whole. I thought maybe it was paradiddles he was doing, but I'm relieved to know it's just singles.
What are you using to record audio. We've tried to record my son with multiple devices, but of course, it's just too loud to get quality from it. Yours sounds amazing!
I once rubbed my stomach and patted my head at the same time so I know exactly how it feels to be this coordinated with your art.
Matt Neumeyer haha, that’s fucking champagne comedy mate.
comedy wow
while chewing gum ...I know Broo. playing my air drums since years ...same
That thing where you do your fists in opposite directions? I can do it... not a big deal. (sniff)

I would like to hear a cover of this song from you, on drums
By far the most accurate Tool cover ever! Keep shredding brother!
RW FourFour have you seen Jon Hill’s cover?
What SpongeMaster said. Jon Hill's is actually more accurate and is, in fact, one of the only playings of this song with the intro pattern correct.
I thought shredding was a guitar thing
This is what I wanted.
Was it what you had in mind?
This what I had on mind.
Thankfully, this is what I'm getting
Lol
Dear god. I've watched more drum covers than I should. I don't play but have always loved watching a good drummer.
Danny is god. You freaking nailed that. Best cover on here.
haha I am the same...never played drums but these videos floor me!!
No he's not
Nick Mason is god
The tuning on the bass drum oh my gosh it is PERFECT
DC is one of the hardest drummers to cover and you did it with total badassery. Kudos to you, sir.
takes balls to try this.
I'll be jamming the bass along to this!!
Fuck yeah
Hahah literally said this, then i saw your reply hahah@@BloomsProductions
Legend has it that kit elajaculated 3 times after this video...
IS THIS WHAT YOU WANTED?! IS THIS WHAT YOU HAD IN MIND?!
I KNOW THE PIECES FIT!
CAUSE IVE WATCHED THEM FALL AWAY
@@terraria7042 Into A 'SCHISM'
CAUSE THIS IS WHAT YOUR GETTING!!!!
M Gonzalez I know, schism is my favorite tool song so I was singing it, the guy I was replying to was singing ticks and leeches. I know it wasn't...

Even only drums so beautiful. Music is really one of the wonders of the world.
His recordings sound so fking good. Digging the panning especially.
Considering the complexity and the sheer difficulty of these songs, I’ll go out on a limb and say this guy is one of the top 3 drummers on UA-cam
Wow that looks so much fun! Not to mention a bit hard eh? Thanks for for sharing. This is my fav from Tool, I love to break down their songs and enjoy one instrument at a time, and combining some. Anyway I'm infatuated with this drum track in particular, such a work work of art!

I'd Love to hear more of your Drums Only Covers!
Oh man, you just acted out what I do in my head when I listen to Danny and daydream!
Well done sir!
Incredible work as always man. I listen to your drum only tracks and can hear the rest of the song in my head. I've started using your tracks to learn the songs on guitar so thank you.. Great testament to how much you nail it, although I got a little lost on the long silence in the middle.

Oh my. This is the best cover I've heard and seen. You nailed it.
danny carey are to me the most impressive drummers. i love em both.
That fill @6:33 gets me every time. Sounds just like the recording. You kill it 🤘
This is the best cover I've seen. Nailed it
awesome work man! Your drums only tracks help me tremendously with my guitar playing. thanks and keep jammin!
I can play a part of this song perfectly from 3:24 to 4:40.
Dang
me 2
Justin on drums? lol
I was thinking the same thing at first.
You know it's a good drum cover when you can "hear" / follow along in your head with the other instruments
in my head, i can hear all of the other instruments slowly introducing themselves in the beginning haha
WOW! You absolutely crushed it man! Fucking stellar work, I've been working on this tune for a couple years now and couldn't get it quite right until I watched this video. Thanks!!
wow awesome, great skill and what a song, not many songs where you can here the entire song by just the drum beat.
Awesome job dude, you nailed it and killed it.
Thank you so so much for this, really great job man. So happy I found this, it's so much fun to play guitar along to this! It takes me to good place! Keep at it brotha!!!

very proud to say i can play all of 3:23 to 5:12 without missing a beat.
Dude this is crazy! Great job.
You are the MAN!!!

In the song when the intro drums come in for the second time it's so epic
That was simply amazing!

Great video.
Amazing effort!!!!!!
Impressive. Love it.
Please do opiate by tool!!!!!!!
I like the ending the best, you do Mr. Carrey much justice my friend.
I’d like to ask a question in how to master the kick drum part of the groove that one is really tricky and having trouble what’s the best practice for that
Great job. Love your videos. Keep it up.

This video is sick
NICELY DONE!
God damn nailed it man
I think I like the drums only version more
Theres no sick screams tho
Agreed, although the interlude is a little boring in the drums only version 😂
Awesome job.
Really amazing!
Best part starts at 3:23 . Danny Carey really shows off his drumming genius with this part

Class stuff
Phenomenal!
Danny probably wrote that arrangement in his sleep. No big deal.
sounds great dude!

5:56 Full Band after silent part.
Can you drop the tabs you used for this? I have the video at .25 speed and I still cant pick up everything being done in the intro
Great job man!
Awesome! I wish your snare had more crack tho
Is this SABIAN HH Raw Bell ride (polished) that you use ? Sounds great.
Nailed it
Good job buddy
