This swarm of 10 autonomous drones can manoeuvre through a bamboo forest in China. They are the first to successfully fly outdoors and navigate unprogrammed obstacles, according to researchers at Zhejiang University who led the experiment.

That is both amazing and terrifying at the same time.
Yeah, imagine these drones with explosives attached, destroying targets kamikaze-style. You run into a dense forest, and they slowly advance on you, and all you hear behind you is the howling of their motors. That would be pretty plausible even with today's technology.
It's like one of the probe droid from star wars
@@johnnysun6495 I am just about to say that ..
Are they waterproof ???
Of course, it's terrifying when it's not from the US
1:09 "In theory, the technology can help with aerial mapping for disaster relief". In theory, it can also be used in warfare to seek out and destroy an enemy at ground level.
Not with that noisy as# propeller
That's what I was thinking lol
I guess so.. scary i think. War in the future only robot vs robot.
An improved fast flying drone will be deadly and the propeller sound alone could inflict terror.
@@Al-sl5sn it can work against slow targets
I have read this report somewhere else. These drones don't rely on internet connection, but process data on these drones themselves, which is why it made the front page of science magazines.
Slightly frightening
China has developed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that can fly both on land and in the air, which are being trained using AI technology
Why would they rely on an Internet connection?
That's false information. Also, it's not "internet connect" It's just simple high/lowband signals. Like radios. China hasn't been able to decentralize their drones. This video is a "concept" cgi of their centralized systems they are working on. It's not actually real and was debunked a few times in the past. This video is about 5 years old.
This looks like something out of a sci-fi movie
I'll be back....
The game - Ghost Recon Breakpoint .
The game is full with AI Killer drones
It is for Military purpose in the future for sure to track enemies rather than aerial mapping for disaster !
Agree. All I see is how can this be use to tracks enemies in dense vegetation forest. Arm with heat seeking sensor camera you can scan for enemies hidden in the jungle.
You should also see another innovation by Shanghai Jiatong University. Drones can fly in the air and dive into the water and hunt for enemy's submarine. ua-cam.com/video/EBMwjdXWjHk/v-deo.html
The test was carried out in the Hainan Island . Information can be sent back to the Chinese military on those militarised islands and fire one topedo or even the aircraft carrier. Kaboom!
This is 100% going to be used in warfare. They can already autonomously map and navigate through a forest, it won’t take long before they can detect and follow heat signatures and explode when in proximity. They will be floating claymore swarms in no time and research will be accelerated even further with military $$$
@@Linkwii64 sadly. the Video is fake. China tends to fake a lot of their "tech" developments. Also, they have no capacity to decentralize these systems. Their military drone systems they use in the South China seas are always a fun target for signal intel guys to take over. They literally jokea bout it all the time, they can take over their drone signal with a button and fly it right back where they came from and crash it right in front of the Chinese.
Hope this can be use for future search as rescue mission, I believe it’ll help a lot!
Yeah, if there is someone missing or a escaped prisoner you can just get these drones to help locate them

So many applications for this amazing technology. These drones can be the next gardeners for agricultural and food preparation. Orchards as far as the eye could see. This is sensational outcome.

They are definently going to militarize this
Heeeelp an authoritarian regime control its populace?
Looks like the chase on Endor in Return of the Jedi.
I suppose this technology can be used to explore and map caves, terrians, and if made waterproof, can be used to map underground rivers, streams, sea floors.
There are also algorithmns for cave navigation like prim jarnik or djikstras algorithmns
Or a killing machine
They can also quickly localize targets hiding in buildings in urban environments
To map underwater, they would need to be far more than just waterproof. They would need different propulsion systems, but the guidance system could surely be retrofitted to avoid underwater obstacles.
This is going to be weaponised
Make no mistake, disaster relief, search & rescue potential aside, police and military ARE taking VERY vested interest in these developments.

@昨日阿富汗,今日烏克蘭,明日台灣島,靠美國,得滅亡 C’mon China is telling everyone it’s either going to take Taiwan peacefully or by force. China launched wars in India, remember? And now we both have a border conflict, China used microwave weapons on our soldiers and now this is the perfect tech for scouting the difficult terrain to make the mountains accessible for warfare and cartography.
Pretty sure ai will get the same regulation as biological, nuclear and chemical warfare. There will be limits that nations will all wish to keep to. Terrorism and intelligence service uses are another matter all together.
@昨日阿富汗,今日烏克蘭,明日台灣島,靠美國,得滅亡 Youre right. The western regime is evil and the aggressor. But just answer my question: How many of those wars started were from Jewish influence?
just strap explosive to the drone swarm and send them to enemy fortification or ruins in urban warfare. Instant win.
Few things strike me as futuristic as much as a swarm of hovering, buzzing robots deftly scanning through a forest.
Well, it also looks like future military hardware.

"An algorithm guides the robots to avoid collision, fly efficiently and coordinate as a team".
Militaries around the world:
according to publication on this project, these drones rely only on wireless communiction between themselves and depth cameras for collision avoidance and navigation. so there is no cellular coverage (3/4/5/6G, etc) , no prior knowledge of the enrionment, for instance, maps and so on.
