I Want to tell you that I subscribed after the 1st episode!!! I have a 72 cCB350 sitting in my garage that i bought about 7 years ago for $200 as a non-running bike. it had Sat in a shed for at least a decade and mice ate the harness...owner tried to rewire but didn't know how. unfortunately it has no compression so i am afraid to see what kind of damage awaits inside. Watching you has given me the confidence to finally tackle this project and i am really looking forward to it!! Thank you so much for sharing these videos and inspiring others. looking forward to watching all the episodes as you bring your bike to completion.
Don Bouton jr. That's awesome man!! Thanks for the support. I'm glad that I inspired you to get out there and wrench on your old bike. I feel like it's intimidating at first but with a little bit of passion, hard work, research and determination you can get it running again! (maybe a little money too! haha).. Anyway best of luck and thanks for the comment, I really appreciate it.
it's been just about 5 years since you split that case. I just got mine finished about an hour ago. Like you said, now the hard part begins.....putting it back together from bottom to top. I needed cam and rocker arm rebuilds, new cam chain, tensioner, pistons, bored cylinders. Your videos are great and have helped tremendously. Thanks.
Please keep up the videos! It's fantastic to have this here as reference and follow through the step by step and any mistakes or ideas you have. I'm looking to start a CB350 build soon (as a complete amateur) and these videos will be invaluable when i do :)
Felix Eves-cowell Haha it's sort of a funny thing you compliment someone for making mistakes but you are right! I know I've made a bunch already and I think that was a point to all this, that someone would benifit from my mistakes.. I just wish I wasn't the test subject sometimes haha but someone got to do it. Thanks for the support man.
+Felix Eves-cowell Did you start the rebuild? Don't let being 'a complete amatuer' put you off, am doing the and have just put the engine back in a freshly powdercoated frame as a complete amateur and it is a great feeling.
+GTs Garage I have to say I am in the same boat. I just got my hands on an old 76' CB360 and I can't wait to sink my teeth into it. These videos are amazing! completely invaluable! Thank you!
Great Job again. Love your enthusiasm. I cannot wait to take apart my spare engine. Love your descriptions of everything how it fits all together or in this case comes apart.
Brian Badovin Thanks! I'm glad I could be of help. It's a lot of fun getting these things apart and once you do you will feel a lot more comfortable about everything. I am debating on buying another cheaper 350 engine just for spare parts and practice before I get mine back together. Good luck with your engine though man!
Hey man, thanks for doing this vid. I finally got my cb350 cases split after working at it for two days and this video helped greatly. I'm really glad I stuck with it and didn’t give up, too, because I found some fragments of broken piston rings which would have certainly put a damper on this project if I didn't discover them...
+Pinch&Roll Nice man.. ya it's like, once you crack them open you realize that yhey were actually built to be tinkered with and it's not such a big deal. Anyway congrats on sticking with it and I'm glad you got your engine cleaned up.
Wyotech go home...you said you cannot help me because I cannot be in class full time. Well, I'm in one now and it's called youtube. Thank you "Saturdays Wrench" and UA-cam!
Joey Dahmus What you see in the video (in fast motion) is pretty much the time it took to get it apart. I was pretty lucky. Some cases take longer but the main thing you want to make sure is that you don't smash or crack any of the cooling fins. Just take your time with it and keep tapping with the rubber mallet and it will give eventually.
Your videos are my bible right now for my rebuild. Thank you for giving me a preview of everything I do. Question for you, I see your cases in later videos looking incredible, how did you clean them? Tips would be appreciated!
Thanks for these vids! They're such a great find. So much easier than straining my eyes at the grainy photos in the Honda shop manual. I'm in the middle of a top-end rebuild on my '72 and this is exactly the kind of encouragement I needed. I was stoked to see how easily the piston heads come off, as people had scared me into thinking it would need special tools and was worried that was why you didn't pull them off in ep.11. I'm gonna go take mine off right now! What a shame that I found you doing this in real time, and I can't just skip ahead to the end of the project. Now I have to wait for each week to drop. Why couldn't you have just done this a year ago or something?
Another great vid! Glad your engine is looking good. I sadly found a crack on my lower case and now looking for another engine. Looking forward to the next vid!👍👍
yeah. not going according to planed. I purchased a SL motor from CL for cheap hoping it would work. But its a no go. I'm asking a lot of questions on the forum and have been getting good feedback! www.hondatwins.net/forums/48-engine-discussion/37680-bad-crack-block-3.html
sang huynh Sorry for the late reply.. been taking a little wrenching break over summer just to regroup and enjoy my other bike. Glad you got it sorted.. those guys on the forum are gold man!
+Kevin Bumgarner not too much trouble to be honest. I used a long pick tool and mistakenly a magnet. I would not suggest the magnet bc it could magnetize the parts and cause metal pieces to stick to it and build up. I feel like if you gave it a good poke with a pick tool and held the shift fork upside down they will just fall out.
+Phobos Chicago something like 33,000 miles I believe. It was up there. Engine was in pretty great shape considering! The PO really took care of the bike.

+Don Bouton jr. How are you getting on with the build, you turfed the mice out yet?
Excellent job man. This is really helping me with my 1970 gal! Kick start came apart on me!

Thanks for your work bro! Amazing videos

K Capstan haha I know man.. I want to see it come together also. I wanted it to be a live process. Good luck with your top end!
+K Capstan How did the top end rebuild go, and not wrong, much easier than grainy photo :)
There's only 12 bolts on the bottom, not 13. 14 in total if you count the top 2 you have to remove.
awesome vid. what's your camera and mic setup?
Andy Luong Thanks! I use a Hero 3+ GoPro with a BOYA external mic. You can find them on ebay for like $15-$20. They plug into the side of the GoPro.
How long were you hitting it before it cracked?
Another great vid! Glad your engine is looking good. I sadly found a crack on my lower case and now looking for another engine.
Looking forward to the next vid!👍👍
sang huynh Oh no!! that really sucks man. I hope you can find a reasonably priced solution.
Cheers!

Looks like I'm going the same route you are plus welding.

How much trouble did you have getting the shift fork guide pins out? Mine seem to be stuck. Any suggestions?

Just curious, what was the mileage on the odometer before you started this project?
